You gotta realize where we are coming from and who we are. We are not a big 10 or 12 caliber school in athletics at this time. Our future is surely bright as we rise the ladder one rung at a time. I'm interested to see how the running back position pans out. I think the young guys coming in will push Byrd and others. I like Byrd, but I am just not sold that he is an every down back. He has the build, but I do not think he has the speed to break the long one. It could be very interesting. GMG

Everything I read describes him as a player that is very gifted athletically for his size. I will be happy if he can score a bit around the hoop. This is bound to open up things outside for the other players. I hope he can scrape off the rust rather quickly. GMG

It is always good to add one QB a recruiting class at least. He would be a nice addition to say the least. GMG

I really like the possibilities for the offense for 2012. Derek Thompson and the qb's will be a year older and more mature. The receivers have come on strong the latter part of this year. I do think they will be able to plug in a running back amongst those who have been red shirted, or be brought in via new recruits. I do think if they can address the speed issue on the outside, it could be special. I especially like the opportunities for the OL. We have great holdovers, plus the Feldt brothers coming in. Does anyone else see the upside I do? GMG

I like the progress the D is making. I like the fact that most of the front 7 will be back next year. If you add in some of the recruits and transfers, we have the makings of a stout D next year. We will be quite young especially in the secondary, but our potential is great. GMG

I just emailed Conference USA on their site telling them of the merits of the Mean Green. We should all assist our university and flood their site with comments. It'll give them something to think about come the next realignment. GMG

I am married with three girls(two of which have special needs). My wife stays home with the kids, while I work two jobs. I just saw the prices for a new job I started for health insurance. The prices were $600 up a month for medical insurance. Are any of you aware of decent private insurance polices and prices? The players are closer to the situation, and they will just miss Canales. Once time has passed, they will get a chance to meet the new coach and build a bond. I think they just need some time to get through their anger. They will then see how exciting this new year will be in the new stadium. I am already stoked. GMG

I was wrong about Canales. I was overcome by his emotion for the team and community after the game. He clearly had both of them at heart. I will hate to see him have success elsewhere, and he was right under our noses to hire. I hope for great success for the Mean Green either way. GMG
