MGB: UNT regents to discuss Littrell's contract
hickoryhouse replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Getting picked apart by P5 schools tells me that we have been doing a better job identifying talent in the coaching world and that gives me much trust in Littrell. I would like to see a bigger salary pool for those coaches, however that might require the program to bring in a bit more money... sell tickets and such... -

It is sad that Benford is the 4th most tenured coach on that list... -
MGB: UNT targeting former OU lineman for assistant job

So would hiring a fired P5 OL coach put that person on an upward trajectory? Or a downward one.... -

I don't see the problem with this at all! In fact I am a bit excited about this development and hope he can get onto campus! http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/125421/ellis-jefferson The kid has great size, 6'4", and speed, 4.5 40 coming out of high school (as a 3* recruit) and was noted for his hands and ability to catch in traffic. Both things that we need. He was highly recruited, even UNT offered him! He has shown that he can finish what he started by graduated college in a respectable amount of time, and his leadership and example could be good for the youngsters and the rest of the team. We don't exactly have a slew of experienced receivers on this team and I don't see where people can think that something like this is a bad thing. We constantly bitch about the city not supporting the team and then when something like this shows up we find a way to make it a bad thing... How do we do that!!!??? Talented player, local product with family friends and fans in the city.... He has the potential to bring the local crowd to Apogee exposing our product to new people who have ignored us. what is there to bitch about?!?!?!? He even has a highly talented brother coming down the pipe! All things that we should be excited about, all things that we have been clamoring for! Ye, somehow we find a way to make this a bad thing... unbelievable. I for one say bring him on!- 79 replies

Because this place is so damned dead recently.... what would it it take for you to be ok with keeping Benford? Hypotheticals welcome. Disclaimer........ Question, no info....

MGB: UNT targeting former OU lineman for assistant job
hickoryhouse replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Some of the things that people have been wanting in this candidate were TX High School ties for recruiting and tremendous success at ta lower level from an ambitious coach. I see both of those.... I don't like the baggage of the NCAA issues, no one should.... but .5 sacks a game.... that is pretty dang salty.- 34 replies

Perhaps I am just impatient.... But i am so very curious about the status of our coaching vacancies. Great new Grad Assistant which is wonderful. But what is happening with our assistant coach searches? Spring ball is almost here and we haven't heard anything yet, not even a rumor! Just curious.

That's awesome!

BTG Bowl Episode - Thursday Jan 5 @ 4:00 pm
hickoryhouse replied to BeyondTheGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
It is one of my favorite ways to keep up with the program. You can go back and watch previous episodes, relive The Stand, the first HOD, remember some of the characters that have been here in the past. It is so well produced and polished. It does differentiate us from other universities and allows a creative and fresh perspective into our fine institution. I truly hope that BTG is something that we can keep going for years to come. -
That Riley dodge clip is great!

That was. Hell of a game and our players fought all the way to the end. Couldn't ask for much more out of them. Can't wait for next year! -
Today is going to be a good day!

Could the rumors be true? Has UNT actually sold out our allotment from UTSA for the game?!?! I sthe President really orchestrating charter buses to haul our fans down there? What is happening, This is a stark contrast to a previous administration in the university and the AD who were content to do nothing, ever, to promote our teams. exciting times! But seriously, are those actually happening?

I have to agree. I stream the broadcast from the KNTU website and I am always a bit disappointed when the post game is over. it is so short and doesn't really go into depth at all. We have good personalities on the air for the pregame show, the kids doa great job, and we have great professionals doing the broadcasts. Can't we find at least an hour of content in there somewhere?
