Gotta ask, what is his connection with UNT?
-
I for one believe that if these become verifiable this will be the next death penalty. there is just way too much systemic crap going on to justify allowing this school to continue to participate in athletic programs as they are.

Shanbour Apparently on Scholarship Now
hickoryhouse replied to MGNation92's topic in Mean Green Football
The kid is talented and deserves a shot. I have enjoyed watching him these past few years and am very happy to see this! It is going to be a great year and GMG! -
Question, no info...

As did I. At least fund raising requests or something when I bought my season ticket. But nothing, radio silence, crickets... you would think that something as big as an IPF would have garnered some attention.

New Multimedia Deal DENTON – The North Texas Athletics Department will outsource its comprehensive multimedia rights for the first time in school history, selecting Learfield as its exclusive athletics rights partner for the next 10 years. The joint announcement was made Friday by UNT Vice President and director of athletics Wren Baker and Learfield President and CEO Greg Brown.

Green Chrome helmet over a mostly black uni with green accents and white numbers with green trim.... and the alternative of the mostly white uniform with the green accents and green numbers with black trim. That would be a modern up to date look and I for one like that! Seems like the recruits like modern too. In all honety though, i could care less about the uniforms if we could, and i know they are singular players here, find the next Brelan, Zach Orr or Booger Kennedy. If the play on the field is killer no one will give a sh*t what the uniforms look like.

DRC: Anthony Johnson talks about committing to UNT
hickoryhouse replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I say welcome aboard Mr. Johnson! I am stoked to have an elusive back who can catch coming into this offence. Moving a back out into the slot where he can do some damage seems to be a big part of the scheme here and this young man fits that bill. I am looking forward to following his senior year and seeing just how dangerous of a weapon he can become! -
Black and Green with white trim. what a great combination.

Hate to sayit but I agree. The UA unis I liked much better than the Nike ones.... although i I love the new helmets with the sow.... especially the chrome one. However I do not think that they would go well with the ua uniforms.

That is a very very tall team. The hope is that there is some athleticism as well. Nothing worse than a floor filled with tall clumsy guys...

seems to me that if they want to have more concerts at Appogee than this one better be a success.... I hope that they promoted it enough to the students.... I am looking forward to hearing about the turnout.

Message from Wren Baker regarding new basketball hire
hickoryhouse replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This is a great hire. It sounds to me like Wren had something like this in mind the day he said that we could hire a acting D1 head coach. Shows me that he had something planned for months now and that letting TB's contract run its course was a good plan, not the actions of a lame duck AD as some would have us think. financially, strategically and PR wise this hire shows that the AD is not willing to just "go along to get along" anymore and I for one couldn't be more pumped! My old man played D1 ball in the 60's and taking him up to denton to catch a game these past few years has been less than entertaining. I am looking forward to GM changing that and quickly! -
DRC: Reffett talks about plans for future
hickoryhouse replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Keep it coming Brett! -
Gagree. I enjoyed the communication from WB and despite the grumblings of some I am still in the camp of of giving the new look AD a chance to right the ship before I cry foul then take my ball and go home. I still expect results from this department and I expect WB and NS to place a premium on establishing a winning culture here at UNT. From what I am seeing it sounds like we are taking steps to promote just that kind of a culture. As it has been said here in the hallowed halls of GMG.com, we have suffered through a culture that accepts and perpetuates losing for years and years, driving off fans and donors alike. Turning that around doesn't happen overnight though, and in the grand scheme of college athletics I would say that expecting a massive seismic shift in culture and performance 150 days into the tenure of the new Athletic Director would count as overnight. To me this thread indicates a competition between dreams / wishes vs. actual realistic and achievable expectations. We can have both, but we need to be able to know the difference between the two. there is nothing wrong with seeing the positive changes happening at UNT, recognizing then appreciating them while still maintaining an eye towards the future and holding the new AD accountable for the expectations that they are setting and the expectations that we as a fan base of this great university should have. This isn't a 0 sum game.

MGB: Spring practice opens tomorrow -- News and notes
hickoryhouse replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe I missed something.... but did I see Vito mention an increase in assistant coach money? Amy details there?
