  1. another possible solution, and I know it is radical, DONT SPEND SO MUCH!!!! and that goes for both sides of the aisle.
  2. Thank goodness it is a late night, I am going to be pulling an almost all nighter and I am going to need something to listen to. You have to love Chris Davis is 1-30 then a long home run into straigh away center... Nice
  3. I agree that there will always be a way around over etc a wall, but the point of increasing the border security would be to slow the influx of illegals into the country. We cannot fix Mexico's problems and we shouldn't be required to, we can however try to reduce our own problems and I am of the opinion that tightening border security to the south would be a large step in alleviating some problems and tension on the north side of the border.
  4. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielowski, I don't know how to describe it, but it is an amazing read, about a house and a tattoo apprentice and an old, I can't describe it, but it is awesome. Has anyone ele read that thing that might do a better job of describing that thing for me? Also Freakanomics by Mark Levvitt. He basically takes interesting coincidences and puts them together to see why, for example the premise that legalizing abortion cut the crime rate in half, among others.
  5. I love seeing that guy pitch, I am also curious what he is going to do on Wednesday against the freaking yankees, That will be a great test.
  6. Semantics, and a very easy way to get around the point I was making.
  7. No crossing the oboundry does not make them less responsible, it is the drinking, smoking weed, partying and random sex that makes them less responsible. I don't know about your college experience but I was in no way responsible enough to be packing heat when I was at UNT, wether I was on campus or not. I recognize the right of the students to carry based upon the 2nd amendment and I own several weapons, but back then... probably not a good idea. Once again if the student wants to have a weapon at his place of residence then go for it, I just don't want jonny Sigma (greek letter greek letter) letter jacket, and any other stereotype you can think of, walking into Riprocks packing, have an extra beverage and get pissed off. That frightens me based upon my own experience. I know that is a possibility anywhere else as well, but the point is to minimize the risk without getting rid of the right. If saying that a college campus is an off limits area for someone to be carrying a 9mm in their pants, and that will minimize the risk of stupid and immature people doing stupid and immature things that have real consequences, I am ok with that.
  8. Most European countries offer a minimum of 3 weeks a year, I find that interesting.
  9. Obviously background checks and classes make people responsible, especially 18-22 year olds who, in my experience, are more concerned about chasing tail and parties than they are about responsible behavior and studying. I am not saying that those people don't exist, but to take page from the artist playbook, consider your audience.... College students, stereotypically, are not responsible enough to carry. If they want to exercise their right to own weapons, then go ahead, just keep it off the campus.
  10. Guns are good Guns on college campus is bad.... I rememb er how I was in college, far from a doped up hot head but still I do not think I was responsible enough to handle the power that a firearm provides. I remeber Nickel Natties at the Side Bar and when you combine that with weapons that are more powerful than darts you are in trouble...
  11. A bill as far reaching and important as the stimulous bill should have been read word for word. It is to important. And you cannot say that it doesn't look bad that the party in power took the single largest spending bill ever and pushed it through the system with out time for I telligent and I formed debate because they did not give anyone time to read it. What did they have to hide if evrything was on the up and up?
  12. people also forget that they did have them and had used them in the past. Sadam actually used them on his own people to commit mass murder in the 80's. It is not a stretch to say that if they had them, could make them, and had used them in the past that they could still. It ended up that they did not have any admittedly but to blame bush and accuse him of creating the entire contrversy in order to fulfil some disjointed family vendetta is ludicrous.
  13. I personally believe that the people who think that Bush started the war because of some unfulfilled vendetta against Sadam are misled and wrong. I suppose that I need to figure out how to type my poor attempt at sarcasm a little more sarcastically.
  14. Bush lied to all of those people in congress that is the only reason they voted for the war. They all got the same intelligence that the president did, in some cases congressmen received more in depth intelligence than the president did, but Bush lied and people died.... hey that rhymes!
  15. All that matters is that they are available. The Coprpoate Average Fuel Econoy or CAFE stands do not take into account what is selling, only what is available. This is a stupid move at an even more rediculous time but the market must adapt. It always has. I can imagine chevy with three 50+ mpg cars just so the avg mpg for the corporation is higher. Obama has essentially signed the death certificate of American car makers if they cannot cope. I have faith that they will. And the truck is not going anywhere. Besides how many prius's would it take to help someone move a sofa?
  16. I think it is crap that the government can tell us, essentially, what kind of vehicles we can drive. however the truck market makes too much money, the auto manufacturers are going to have to step their game up and figure out a way to make it work. Perhaps the biggest truck you will be able to buy will be a ranger or s-10 type, perhaps they will go to an all hybrid and active fuel management type of setup. But don't forget that CAFE standards reflect the average of the entire fleet of vehicles for any one brand. I am going to bet that there is going to be a huge increase in 40-50mpg cars and that the trucks are going to get better mileage perhaps even 28-30 or so. Trucks aren't going anywhere. That is the beauty of free market system, even if it is being lorded over by a increasingly overbearing federal government, the customers and the market dictate what the companies produce not the government. That is how money and wealth is created, leave it to the market!
  17. After watching that video I think the cop was acting like a jack ass, he probably was legally able to do what he did though. The girl was also acting like a jackass. I don't understand what they were trying to accomplish, i suppose they were trying to make a statement oon how americans waste so much time doing nothing.... Oh well, the cop got worked up over basicaly nothing, but the girl was acting like a "b" just goes to show you, just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it art.
  18. I was at a steakhouse on sunday night before the MNF Dallas vs Philly game last year game, Tony Korheiser was there too. Some blonde lady apparently had to much to drink and was trying to run across the dining room to make her way to the batheroom. Apparently she didnt get up fast enough because she stoped right next to him and when he turned to see what was the matter she threw up on his shoes! I laughed so hard, I have never been able to look at him again without the slightest hint of vomit smell. He annoyed me more than Madden.
  19. Then why not impose term limits that allow Senators two terms, and the house four terms. 12 years for the senate and 8 for the house. This way we get the best of both worlds, experience and voter accountability.
  20. John Lackey gets tossed after two pitches, I guess we have nothing to worry about from that guy!
  21. Thank god for our infield! Rangers win............. Finally
  22. Cj Wilson. Really? I am nervous. No need for a bunch of posts but do E on all we need I one out! Damn it cj! Go ahead run at the plate and we were up by 7 less than two innings ago!
  23. Spoke to soon o'day just gave up a homer. I have faith though. This is going to turn out well for us
