  1. To me article iv says that the states get to determine the way in which they are governed and in the case of dissenting opinions the federal government can step in and provide guidance. "Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other state" The second portions states that the congress can create legislation that determines the way in which other states must abide, or disregard that legislation that a particular state might disagree with " Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof" No where in the article does it say that the government can go against the will of the majority. We still live in a majority rules environment . That being the case, if we decide to use the full faith and credit clause of the constitution to determine the legallity of same sex marriage it would seen to me that the five states that have legalized it, Massachusetts, Iowa, Vermont, Connecticut, or Maine have little ground to stand on when it comes to the 30 statesthat have passed "mini - DOMA's" or amendments to the state constitution, or laws, that mirror the intent of the Defense of Marriage act signed by Bill Clinton in 1996. It is counter intuitive to say that the choice of five states gets to overcome the choice of the majority of states under the basis of an article of the constitution that seems to protect the decisions of the states in how they run their government against minority held positions. If more states decide to reverse their already established constitutional amendments and established laws then perhaps the situation will reverse itself and article iv can be interpreted a different way.
  2. It was the same with me when I was growing up, but that rarely happened at 12:30 pm.
  3. IMO Ceney is exactly right on this isue, the gay marriage issue is a perfect example of states rights, it should beup to the state to decide what is best for their state based upon the will of those governed by that state. The federal government has no reason to get involved such things, this is a states rights issue. As far as the otherthings are concerned in the article, I think that Cheney might have a good point with the FOIA requests that are being spurned by the administration. Lets let all of the information out and then have an intelligent discussion based on facts and not conjecture and biased information.
  4. Despite the intense difference in people's views, this is never an acceptable outcome. I hope the man responsible is convicted and receives the harshest punishment that the law allows. The idiots and activists that feel that actions such as this, clinic bombings, etc... need to think how counter intuitive it is to be a "pro-life" individual and then take life to prove their point. This is a truly sad event no matter where someone stands on the issue at hand.
  5. Mike is a tough guy but he better hope that Liddell isn't the jealous type
  6. So if I was offended by another fan's A-Rod Yankees jersey I could have that person removed?
  7. I have to agree, the guy should know about the intelligence agencies that are providing him, and the rest of the government, with information. He is not new to the government and not new to intelligence reports, I hope. I would be amiss if I didn't admit that of all the things that we can bitch about, we choose this? wow.
  8. It has cost $40-50 bucks for nose bleed seats in Texas stadium for a while now. I don't thin that the new one is going to be much different
  9. Who takes his place on a regular basis that has even close to the defense?
  10. That is exactly right, all of us Ranger fans have been excited only to be let down before. Thsi much excitement is pretty new however. If they can keep it up past the all star break then I will be the biggest post season cheerleader ever. But for right now we tend to struggle against good teams, eg. Yankees at home.... And we beat the crap out of bad teams, eg A's tonight! I am just very happy that we are no longer in that crappy team category! I love watching this but sadly I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop and hoping that it never does, this is WAY TO MUCH FUN! GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING FOR THE RANGERS, Bythe way what the hel is up with CJ Wilson getting the win in the first game and the save in the second?!?!?!? Way to go!
  11. If all they wantedt o do was to make sure that the fire lanes were clear and that emergency vehicles could get it, then why didn't they say that in the first place!?
  12. That is Kinda like the way I feel about Bill Maher (sp)
  13. Crap... It is going to happen throughout a season. Let's see how we bounce back against a division opponent with a doubleheader on Friday
  14. ding ding ding, we have a winner. That would have been a better choice.
  15. Biden predicted during the election? Biden predicts challenge for Obama "Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy." IS it a coincidence that the test was carried out on Memorial day? ANd with the strong words of N Korea, how far can this go? If this isn't the challenge, what will it be and from who? Or will Biden be proven wrong?
  16. perhaps I should have chosen a different lawsuit than McDonald's.... Facts make things more clear, but my point remains the same. despite the bad example
  17. I wonder what that guy, what as his name that was such a downer with his bad editorials, phillip young was it? I wonder what he has to say. Not that it matters!!!!!
  18. Man i hope so, but Joba struck him out on straight fast balls in the second and then went away from it... We shouldn't talk about this here, other teams could be scouting the rangers.... By the way it is great to have someone go 2-4, hopefully this is him coming out of this slump.
  19. Yes excet that Yanks threw him two weak breaking pitches which he turned on for Homers! Had they just stayed with fast balls he would have struck out four times.
  20. I don't view this as a left right thing, I view this as a PC thing. This is evidence that the PC crowd is harming the country. Displaying a US flag in the US should not, is not and IMO will never be offensive. The entire issue here IMO is a inane as the lady suing McDonald's for hot coffee.
  21. Fun game, i thought for sure that the yanks were going to come back again, thankfully they didn't. I am starting to believe more and more in this team but I guess after years of disapointment I am still a doubter, just less of one right now.
  22. 2 strike outs and 2 home runs... what a wierd line, at least it will help his average, and hopefully he can use this to get back on track offensively
