Can't wait to be there. thanks -
Last year I looked at the draft not as if the Cowboys didn't have a first round pick, but more as that first round pick was the now failing receiver known as Roy Williams. I think that in this years recruiting class, while looking pretty strong albeit small at this point, we should look at William Cole and Tyler Stradford as recruits this year. Perhaps use them in our 2010 recruiting class when we are looking around at the competitions recruits and comparing results. Neither guy played here last year, both have 2+ years of eligibility, isn't basically the same thing as bringing in a JuCo guy? I could be off base but when I look at our class so far, especially with these guys being considered as a part, I think that we are developing one hell of a class this year.

Mandy was neither rude, nor kind to me. I never met the lady.

Perhaps I am naive but I think that with the current state of athletics here, even with football being in as bad a way as it is, we have been making huge strides to improve all programs in facilities, coaches (BB mainly) competitiveness and market location we seem to be a great candidate for a conference trying to expand or not lose much if the big players are heading to greener pastures. Football is important of course but definitely not the only factor in the conference talks. We will all have to wait and see but I for one think the RV has done a good job getting us propped up and ready to compete for a new conference spot should that opportunity present it self soon.

If Coach Dodge does not manage to get it done this year, I say go for the 40 year old OC / DC at big name a.q. school. Name recognition is nice and if we could get a coach Fran or someone like that then good but there has to be better value and more drive out there though with a coach entering their first HC gig, but this time coming from the college ranks of course. Going after the lower level HC with success is a another route and you make a good point about his familiarity of the hurdles that he would face but I fear that is just looking at the last mistake, assuming Dodge fails this year, and taking it one step higher. Lets go from High School HC to Div II / Div III HC. Yeah one is college but I view that idea as a bit of same ole same ole.

Riley always had the option of throwing the ball away when his guy wass being double covered, when he was having a hard time getting his feeet set, when he was running for his life, etc...etc...etc... The O-Line can take a little responsibility, but Interceptions are mostly the fault of the QB. Sometimes he gets hit and that changes the ball flight, sometimes the WR runs the wrong route or doesn't knock the ball out of the DB's hands, but I wold say that is just splitting hairs. Let Riley take his shots and he will get better. No one gets better by being coddled. He will be much better next year, and if he is not then that will probably be his fault too.

Need A Good Salvage Yard
hickoryhouse replied to MDH's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I assume that these are the same salvage yards that sit north of town next door to the 1/8th mile drag strip? I used that place many times a few years ago to source arts for an old 66 Barracuda I was working on. They have a bucn of cars there, more than two acres of old cars. I would image you can find something there, though they seem to focus on significantly older cars. -
If you are not trying to be the morality police the what is you point?!?!?! I have been working in hospitality for over a decade in all different forms but mainly in hotels, and yes I did get my hospitality degree from the great U of NT... In my tenure in Guest Services (Bellman, Valet, Concierge, Management etc.) with major luxury hotels I have come across my share of "slime" strip club managers, pimps, women of the night, strippers, call girls, etc... etc... etc... Through out my experience with these individuals through the hotel and the hotel's guests I can tell you with a fair degree of certainty that you sir, are full of S on this topic. Of course strip club managers seek out attractive women, that is part of their job. But they do it everywhere and hooters or twin peaks etc. are not targeted as potential "career fairs" for lack of a better term. I think that you should spend a bit more time respecting these ladies opinions and choices and less time demonizing an organization that has nothing to do with it like Hooter's. These managers go to college campuses, beaches, malls, hotel front desks ... really anywhere you can find attractive women to find potential employees. But I think that you are forgetting, in your assumption that Hooter's is the almost equivalent to a den of iniquity, that these women make their own decisions and choose where they want to be employed on their own. Many of them decide to go directly to the club and apply, like any other job, due to the incredible monetary benefits that go with the job. Back to my original question, if you say that you are not trying to be the morality police the what is it that you are trying to accomplish? Many people here have said that this teacher made a bad decision, and I happen to agree. But you took that idea to a totally different level. Why?

Great to see help coming to the defensive side of the ball. Hopefully they can be utilized effectively and shore up this defense.

Best point I have heard all thread. If we gripe about Riley being to small to handle the College game, he's to frail or thin or small or whatever, then the same has to be said of Mr. Hall at this point as well. Despite his advantage in height.

Cowboys In December
hickoryhouse replied to KingDL1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I like Bob Sturm's take on the situation, let's just have Jerry Coach the team and perhaps he can get it out of his system and hire a real coach, and let that real coach do the freaking job! At least if Jerry is the coach I would feel better about the situation. Nothing is going to change because Jerry is the coach now any way but at least this way we don't have to wonder who is actually calling the shots anymore. -

I think you are right about the main point of contention being about Cap and Trade, not so much Global Warming. C&T is a bad idea that is aimed at increasing government revenues, not curbing harmful gas production. The truth is that no one knows why the earth is doing anything in relation to global temperature and that is really the only fact out there in the debate. Global warming is a theory, a hypothesis a guess, not proven fact. It is a politically expedient method of increasing tax revenue and controlling a population through fear for the government however. In my opinion creating massive changes to the tax structure, creating sweeping new regulations on industry and forcing unwanted change on people is the wrong thing to do to this economy and will serve no point but to drive the already dwindling manufacturing sector in our country to other country's shores in order to avoid those regulations and taxes. There are many many places on the planet that will not have these ridiculous regulations and will not tax a company to death to produce their products. C&T will do nothing but hurt the economy with a tax on energy production etc. that will not be paid by the company, it will get paid by the consumers. Ridiculous ideas at the wrong time, especially when there is no true consensus on Global Warming at this point. Just a thought, but if we really wanted to stop CO2 emissions then instead of hurting a bad economy, lets create jobs by building the alternative we already have!!! -
Only assuming that the glacier that you are speaking about are not in the water at all. The mass of the entire glacier, that happens to be on the water and otherwise know as icebergs, would be displaced regardless of how much of it is above the water. This is similar to the way a boat floats, Archimedes and all that. Now if you were speaking of glaciers that are on land, then you have a point, that water has to go somewhere. howstuffworks.com

It is time for us to get togetther and support the school and the coach. We sure as heck don't all agree on the decision but the fact of the matter is that we can all sit here and bitch and insult our own team, drive down our own expectations and our own pride. These things don't help, they on't make us as a fan base feel better about anything and they are not going to help the team, coach, other fans etc.etc.etc. What is done is done, weter we like it or not the coach is the coach. We have a couple weeks to watch other teams play in bowls and get pissed about the decisions of our athletic staff, or lack there of. But the fact of the matter is that when all of the bowls are done, and we have spent an entire month steaming and frustrating ourselves, the great U of NT still sits there waiting for our support, our fanhood, our attention. I am not going to beg anyone to give money, buy season tickets, join the NT exes (former) or anything else. But I do think that we are better than this. There are some things that we can change and others that we cant. At this point we should look forward to a new recruiting class, our incoming bad ass transfers, the return of Lance Dunbar and a winning season or else there will be actual consequences (theoretically). Come on Mean Green, this might very well be the start of something great after this year, or the continuation of a very slow greatness process that will lead us into a new stadium. Either way, GO MEAN GREEN!

When that happens what do we do for the grand opening of the stadium? Dodge loses another 10 games we open with a new coach and lose another 10 games.... how long do we have to sit and wait? I will support the TD next year, and whomever follows his inevitable demise, but this is getting ridiculous.
