  1. Did I see that right.... a High School coach? Interesting... That seems familiar
  2. And if we win 7 games this upcoming season and Canales is scooped up as a HC someplace else then perhaps we would have set the precedent of paying decent wages for good assistant coaches and one of taking coordinators and giving them the ability to showcase their abilities as play callers and decision makers on a national stage. Perhaps then we would be able to go out a grab another quality OC. But who is to say any of that wil transpire, perhaps we win 7 and Canales decides to stay, or perhaps we lose 9 and we are all clamoring for all of them to be fired. who knows
  3. Sometimes a bit of levity is needed A car guy and his environmental theories explained above.
  4. I would say that the issue of global warming by itself is not the political catalyst. That comes from different parties perspectives on how to deal with the problem. Cap and Trade vs. Market based solutions. those are the arguments the science being debated here is not political but the solutions are. I think that people get tired of being told whats right when they disagree with the assumption, on either side.
  5. Posting fro the phone means I can't imbed the link but copy and paste will do you well http://m.nbcsports.com/s/3240/2;jsessionid=60C68F454E89A24963F555387F9AA5C2?itemUriVal=feed%23lxpKBs6bZXnoK1yBd%2FFotPTru3llqP6U8b&view=hdl&itemTitle=Canales:%20From%20Bulls'%20Green%20to%20Mean%20Green
  6. Old HC got fired and the new HC did not retain any of the previous staff.
  7. I wonder if you coul have scrappy as the HC on EA Sports 2011? That would be awesome!
  8. Just an interesting comparison of Brion, hopeful here at UNT and Riley, already here and UNT: Brion Carnes: ESPN College Football Recruiting Profile Riley Dodge: ESPN College Football Recruiting Profile I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin... EDIT: This is in no way saying I don't want this kid here at UNT, if he wants to come bring him on he looks like a great QB!
  9. perhaps he will be less distracted this year and be able to focus better on things like that!
  10. TFLF, I'm not going to lie, your optimism is palpable especially when compared to the dark stinky pessimistic hole of the essay you wrote (not that I blame you for the pessimism, at least a little bit)... It is also infections! I haven't been able to do any real work here at the office for the past hour or so since I heard the news! Great hire, experienced coaches all around and what we think are going to be great players all about to explode on the field for the final year of Fouts! What a great spring this is going to be!
  11. I like the open QB competition. Canales is going to come in and be able to objectively say who he thinks, with his 24 years of college + experience, the besr QB on the roster is to run his offense. We won't be able to bitch about pappa Dodge showing favortism to his son any more, we won't be able to question if the right guys are playing or anything else in the vein of QB! I wonder if this means that all of the other positions on Canales' offense are up for grabs by the best player too?! Now that would be spectacular!
  12. Way to go Dodge and Co.! What a great hire and it looks like Dodge might be putting ego aside and being the CEO type that we all seem to want him to be!
  13. Awesome game, great fun to watch, great win and a fantastic defensive play by white to win the game! Totop it all off we might just have a new fan in my dad who I watched the game with. He is excited about hitting up one or two of the final home games! Great job UNT!
  14. Thats very fair and very logical. I do remember hearing, but don't have time to look up, that the founding fathers specifically penned the Congressional rules so that progress would be slow and so that one administration,or congress etc couldn't do to much damage to quickly. That definitely makes sense if that is the case. However there are issues in the country that do need to be looked at such as health care, over regulation (or lack thereof) of business both small and large, intentional deficit spending in the budget, the national debt and energy policy. These things, especially energy, budget deficits and the debt , are issues that we can't afford to slow play for to much longer. At some point these guys are going to have to do something together and accomplish something so we don't drown in our debt to China and others, so we can continue to have ample energy at rates American's can afford and so we don't end up saddling future generations with bills that they will never be able to pay. Perhaps the difference in party numbers is to great to overcome currently and leaves one party thinking they have a public mandate mandate so they are inflexible and the other party constantly on the defensive. That sort of atmosphere would not be a good incubator for cooperation or open minded thinking from leadership. Everything reaches a tipping point though, hopefully when it does we will have logical and patriotic individuals in legislative positions that can make decisions for the betterment of the entire union.
  15. Love the new site on the iphone, that's fantastic! thanks!
  16. I don't really disagree with you there. The GOP response was very nebulous and seemingly more directed at the feelings of the audience than it was on direct policy and agenda. That isn't to say that there was none of that there but I don't think that was his goal in the probably 1-2 page speech. I don't mind that though, with the drastic minorities currently held by the GOP what kind of policy information do you really expect them to offer up during a 6 minute rebuttal? I like the fact that he appealed to the audiences emotions and pride. That seems to me like the most effective use of that limited air time, this way he leaves the audience with something that they can hold onto longer than inane details of policy agendas that were proposed without enough time to accurately explain them, or pointless attacks that, while good sound bites, do nothing to eliminate the overly partisan atmosphere currently in our national government. I did like the forum much better this year and I am much more pleased this year with the response that I was with Bobby Jindal last year.... wow....
  17. Whether I agree or disagree with Obama's opinion on the recent Supreme Court decision, his choice of venue and sense of timing was horrible, disrespectful and cowardly last night. The State of the Union was no place to bully the Supreme Court and put their decision on trial in the court of public opinion especially when they had no chance of rebuttal. Now granted he did say, "With all due deference to Separation of Powers." but that shouldn't give you the right, even as POTUS, to rhetorically give 'the bird' to the Supreme Court should it? If you are in the ARMY can you say anything you want to a general simply because you preface it by saying, "with all due respect sir"? Justice Alito's response
  18. Interesting, but short, article perhaps she has a point, but perhaps she is just nuts....
  19. We need to keep Carey in the Starting lineup over Outlaw, he is still very young and produced very well towards the end of the year last year. Lets keep him on the field and developing and if he keeps up this pace there is no telling where he will be by the end of the season, or his career.
  20. The spending freeze that Obama has been rumored to be promoting tonight is delivering very strage responses from the Democratic base. Quick article wiith several links Check out the little 'blurb' by the poster of the Rachel Maddow YouTube video... classic. I think that this shift center, no matter how small and how seemingly rhetorical in overall scope, is showing that despite Obama's tendencies of being quite liberal he may be moving center to try and stabilize his party in the months prior to the upcoming elections. This way the Democrats can say that we saw the issues in the economy and we cut spending. The "Tea Parties" have been screaming for a cut in government spending and Obama is hoping to capitalize on that, except for one thing, this is not a across the board cut in spending that has been clamored for by the " Tea Parties" this is a discretionary spending cut that doesn't take place until 2011, still allows his inflated 2010 budget to take effect and in the end according to some economists will only cut the deficit in the budget by $35 Billion by 2015. So the question is this if you lean left; Is this a good move for the president to be making or is pledging to cut spending in the middle of a recession a horrible idea that panders to voters on the other side of the political spectrum? To those of us that lean right; Is this too little too late and being used simply to redirect the focus off of the Republican victory in Mass, or can we look at a move like this and think that maybe, just maybe, the POTUS has looked at the economic situation and the mood of the people and perhaps is changing his tune? Personally I feel that, and I quote Al Gore, "A Zebra Doesn't change his spots."... but we will see
  21. I can't wait to see that building come down, not as much as Fouts but still! hopefully we can organize a tailgate to watch the hotel fall down!
  22. The fence thing is ridiculous...but would you rather him lie about Dodge's lack of success during his tenure or just ignore it?!? I have no problem with the guy or his writing, I really enjoy reading about our little school up north of Dallas in the DMN. Success is part of the game and so is failure, as long as he is equal in his praise you seem to think he is pessimistic of us due to our current failure then the guy is aces in my book.
  23. George is on a 2 game awesome streak and ET played fantastic for our last game which could be a great sign coming off of the injury finally. If both of the big guys can bring in double digit rebounds, or close to it and ET can get close to the 25 he just had I think that we will be in a good way. These big guys playing so well might just draw some attention away from the back court and give them some space to find a rhythm that they have been needing. I like the way that this team has been looking and I am hoping to be able to watch them at the pour house with the old man, its always more fun to watch a winner!
  24. I was just about to post this as well. Looks promising but I still can't find anything concrete.
  25. Maybe I missed it, which is very possible, but I didn't see any coaching position listed for football. The only Athletics position I found was for Volleyball.
