Was listening to Norm today, he was talking about the impending demise of the Big East leading to a possible combination of CUSA and the Remnant of the Big East. Don't know what that would mean for teir 1 / Tier 2, but That would be an interesting development.

I haven't been able to pay much attention to actual games yet this season but I know that there was alot of noise around here about the substitution habbits of our new HC. Now that we have 3 wins in a row do we still have the same complaint? Is his substituting making any more sense, or has he slowed his role a little bit and let the guys play more? I was reading all those threads early last week and it have to say it made me a bit nervous...

Petraeus resigns
hickoryhouse replied to H-towngreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I don't think that the discussion here is about the Party of family values, or any other Party for that matter.. What was the generals declared Party affiliation anyway? The discussion here is about the political expediency involved with the timing if this information being released. -

From a certain perspective the government conspiracy sword dropping angle makes sense. No one had ever trusted the government. When bush was in office how many random conspiracy theories did we sift through? If memory serves it was way to freaking many. were all of those just bs rhetoric? Same song different verse I don't think that the current president and administration is evil, i don't think the previous one was either. I do think that the government as a whole is dishonest and i don't put the thought of manipulating this situation, among others, outside of the realm of possibility. I know it can be awkward to evaluate yourself, but were the bush haters any different? Were their points less valid? Does Rick and others not have the right, nay responsibility, to look into these things? It would be irresponsible to let a government of any stripe get away with something due to lack of public scrutiny. The people that should understand that the most should be those that tore bush apart whenever possible, that was a big group. What us wrong with looking onto a possibility that circumstantially (sp) is quite possible? -

Well of course, everyone knows that free basing or"plugging" bath salts is the same as smoking pot. I also heard that they both lead to murder! Scientific proof delivered here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54xWo7ITFbg&feature=youtube_gdata_player -

Pepsico really appreciates you, you will be investing in Lays and Doritos among others. (NYSE: PEP) You should also look into YUM! Foods, KFC and Taco Bell really look to benefit also. NYSE: YUM (edit) -

From the Houston chronicle... Doesn't advance the abortion discussion, but Interesting none the less.... "Asked how he'd answer the question Mourdock faced, Cruz said, "I'm not going to engage in hypotheticals. It seems the media is never asking Democrats what their view is, of say, partial-birth abortion. ... Instead, you see reporters engaging sometimes in 'gotcha' games where they try to get Republicans to make ill-considered comments.""

I think it is humorous and cute that we can take less than 100 years of actual climate data and think that we after 0.000000025% of earths history (assuming a 4 billion year old planet and a generous 100 years of data) that we are qualified to lump that minuscule amount of time into massive assumptions regarding the climate of the planet. Somebody said this before on this board ... We are not that important.... Ice ages on this planet have lasted thousands of years, there have been thousands of years of warmer climates as well.... We don't know what the average temp changes were year over year, decade over decade, or day over day back then like we do for the last 75years or so. To assume differently than that is arrogant at best and irresponsible and dangerous at worst. I am not saying that man doesn't have an effect on it all, we very well might. I just don't buy that such a small sample size gives us knowledge that insurmountable that we don't even consider that there might be cycles to the earths climate based on things much bigger than ourselves. That percentage of time that we have been recording this stuff is equivalent to auditing the flora and fauna of 0.004 sq mi of California and saying that we know all there is to know in this place, arrogance.

Awsome place to watch a game, I have been out there a couple times too, they support us with banners on the front door and beer specials throughout the game! Not too mention the bbq is pretty dang good too!

I was there for that as well, one of my fondest memories of college football, I was a freshman I think... So much fun carrying that thing around the field and then to the admin building to light the tower. Then on to Fry St. Lou was particularly generous that evening if memory serves.... Anyway, rushing the field is awesome, but it should be done only for a great reason otherwise it loses its emphasis.

So I have been having lots of conversations at work about the Mean Green over the summer. 1 of the conversations that came up was about our basketball team, that seems to be a very interesting topic at the office. I have a lot of dollars over there of course, we all expect that, at least a little bit. What the question was raised what are the odds of the Mean Green achieving a top 25 ranking this season? I thought about it for a minute and thought that I would ask the experts here at gmg and see what y'all thought. I'm a definite Homer, and I don't make any apologies about that. So I told the guys at work that I'm giving it better than 50 50 ipods that would be in the top 25 this season. I told them to mark that down. Makes me wonder though, are we putting too much pressure on the team? Is this something that actually achievable? I feel like it is, and I can't wait for the season to start.
