  1. Wish I could have been there brother! Thank cake is awesome!
  2. My brother used to be the coach of the ARMY Golden Knights! They are a talented group of Cadets and very fun to watch. I had the privilege of jumping with them once as well. An intense crew to say the least. As for the trip definitely well worth it! a great stadium atmosphere, great tradition and a beautiful campus. Be careful on that train though... I picked it up once in NYC and at the station I got the special opportunity to witness what can only be described as a rumble... followed quickly by the police coming in and all 8-10 of the guys involved hauling ass out the other door of the station. entertaining to say the least!
  3. I was there from 2000-2005 and Nickle Natty's on Tuesdays was awesome... $5 to get in the door then $5 more got you and your buddies taken care of.... always had to tip the bartender though. I forget what bar that was but they had darts upstairs... We found 18 packs of Milwakee's Best Light at the race track on teasley once for $3.95 we bought all of them and filled the fridge. I can't even look at that stuff with out getting queezy.... in 2000, where the garage is I think.... there used to be a bar that did .75 shiners on Wednesday that was good... But as a Jim Beam fan, that city is the best. $2 jim beam shots all over town, cant beat that.
  4. That means to me that the new coach was willing to whore himself out just to get the title of Hc. Sounds like a great hire. .... "Yes ad of nutsack, I will do anything you ask just to be a hc! I know I'm not qualified so thanks for telling me what to do so I can finally be more than a position coach"
  5. so when do we update the commitment / transfer list? I have been waiting for that thing to get longer for a while now!
  6. Sitting in the end zone at FOUTS in 00, 01, 02, 03. Those were great, not entirely wholesome times with friends that I won't forget. The 4 Bourbon bowls in NO. At one of them I thought I had won the lottery, I went to NO with 4 girls and me... That's it! What could go wrong? Well for starters that arrangement is a trap.... And my room mate and best friend totaled my car while I was gone. I will never forget that voicemail. The beer guy at the game was so concerned about me that game that he gave me two beers! And we beat cinci so there's that! beating NMSU and tearing down the goal post with that same friend who wrecked my car. We carried that thing to the admin building and sang loud and then to fry and drank Jim from the bottle thanks to Lucky Lou! I think that was the night I realized that I really loved this team and I have been a die hard ever since. Jamario vs colorado stomping baylor beating the hell out of smut THESTAND!!! Made some great friends in the end zone that night. My hands hurt from beating up the wall, I had no voice and I witnessed something that I will never ever see again. What a series! Never seen anything like it from any level of play. Was a season ticket holder for the next year the next week . The Tip drill the HOd bowl was amazing. The game was awesome, but Dallas dressing up for us touched me. Friends and tailgating, vodka filled oranges, bonding with lifelong friends over a struggling team. Bonding with lifelong friends over the nations longest conference winning streak and one of the best defenses I have ever seen was probably more fun though! this exercise made me realize something. Being a fan is fun, it's emotional and it's rewarding. We are all here because we feel these same things and that's wonderful! I have more good feelings and great memories from this school and this team than I do bad ones and I guess that's what keeps me coming back. And you know what... All the trials and tribulations is just going to make it that much sweeter when we finally get back! Go Mean Green! fire rv
  7. I remember that... Wow. What a block!!!!
  8. Are we so bitter that we are actually wishing bad things upon our former coach?!?! That's shameful. He wasn't great here and there are many reasons for that. But at some point don't we have to get over it?
  9. yes we do. But i am enjoying the excitement and am allowing myself to have some fun while being a UNT fan. We already have a hard enough time why must we make it harder on ourselves? still.... Fire rv
  10. That's kinda the point. Some have been awesome and some have sucked. But every time a new one comes out the masses explode with optimism and excitement. I would be I would be amiss if I did not say... fire Rv. That is the next step to us having a good department. We cannot overlook that critical element even with the new hires and excitement. Fire Rv.
  11. I think truth be told... We are all somewhat concerned about these things. As a bit of a skeptic of the Harrell hire I understand that so does everyone else around here. But to the counter, there is nothing wrong with getting excited about the dramatic and long awaited change that is happening in front of our eyes. No, nothing has been proven yet, but that doesn't stop people from being excited about the new star wars movies, we don't know if they are going to be any good so what makes our coach situation any different?
  12. Honestly I was anti Harrell due to experience and name recognition blah blah blah. I have to say I am starting to like the way things are progressing. This could either be the dream team made of first timers or it could flame out epically and expensively. But I am starting to feel very good about the energy, enthusiasm and drive that these young up and comers have. They all want to come here and kick ass and take names so they can get a better job. That's perfect! If we make a lifer out of Littrell or Harrell or whoever then good on us, but personally I am warming up to the idea of young energy up and comers. If they succeed then next thing you know Unt is the place to be hired to as a high potential young coach and that changes everything around here.
  13. Throwing our hat in the ring for big time prospects, I love seeing this! It looks like we aren't afraid to compete with the big boys anymore and that says nothing but good things for our school!
  14. That's what I don't understand either. If he has already informed Georgia that he won't be staying there what is the hold up announcing that he would be joining our great institution? He looks like he would be a great hire as a DC, I just hope he is our hire as a DC.
  15. yeah... I'm bad at this
  16. If we end up in the top 100 we moved up 50 places and that's huge. It's a short period for our staff, I hope we can be in the ... Double... digits ranking and come away with a couple big pieces for the future, if that happens than it is a success. This year is the building block and the first step to big things to come.
  17. I wouldn't mind having that qb pack his things and move back for UNT
  18. so happy to have the man coordinating our offense having a great out. "The hc was really the guy, I was just here learning" i wish GH the most success! I do trust our new coach... Maybe I just have a problem with an inexperienced staff.... Maybe that's what we need .... My concerns are noted. But it doesn't matter anymore. Give coach Harrell the benefit of the doubt and let's take the next few years and kick some ass. GMG! fire RV
  19. that should be a job title. Grahm Harrell Coach's Eyes in the Sky
  20. I'm glad to know that name recognition is the biggest part of hiring an offensive coordinator. I never knew that before. So from a "first year OUTSIDE WIDE RECIEVERS COACH" to an Offensive Coordinator..... That's the progression, that's the experience, that's the ideal!!! Good to know that name recognition as the thing we hang our hat on!!!! now, 100% support to coach Harrell, welcome aboard and let's kick some ass!!!! I hope I am proven wrong and that coach Harrell, along with Littrell, really is the offensive guru we all want him to be. GMG. Fire RV
  21. rediculous discussion in general but I see it working out like a Troy McClure piece from the Simpsons. Vy: hi I'm Vince Young. You might remember me from such events as my UT football national championship, flaming out in the NFL and needing my university to bail me out of self induced tailspin with a figure head bullsh job. Now I'm loyal to another university and you should believe what I say about it. That ludicrous. Actually the entire discussion is by it is a fun exercise. Fire rv
  22. so v young is a recruiting prodigy all of a sudden? Well I'll be damned. Texas has been doing it wrong with him in a meaningless "thank you for your service" type of gig there. Just because he has name recognition doesn't mean that he is a good recruiter. And his super UT hero persona and pedigree would look beyond rediculous and two faced at our great institution. Not it that this is actually a possibility, just saying that 90 has a point. Name recognition doesn't mean dick when it comes to actually being an offensive genius or recruiting guru or even a herbal healer! At some point you have to prove it an VY hasn't done that. Similarly just because GH comes from Leach's system and has one year of coaching doesn't mean he is an offensive genius or guru or shaman or whatever descriptor you want to use. I am excited about the progress and think GH could be a good coach, if he is the hire he has 100% of my support.... But as a coach from these parts once said. Maybe we should "put away the anointing oils"
  23. why? Your statement makes no sense. Harrell might be coming but are you suggesting that getting a young guy like this as a WR coach can only be led by another young guy with the same amount of time under his belt? Or is it because they both hail from tech with littrell? That is silly. Nothing about this hire necessitates hiring Harrell. i like the idea of a young staff and I think this is a good start to that young staff, keeps it in the same philosophy and all, but Harrell is not the right guy for the full time OC here, qb coach and co oc sure.
  24. how many years was he something else before he became an oc? And he is still one of the youngest head coaches in the country. It just feels like jumping the gun to try and make a splashy hire.
  25. the guy has been a coach for 2 seasons and that's it? Yeah his history is impressive but I have to think that an OC would have a bit more under his belt than 2 whole seasons.... I like the qb coach. Maybe asst oc or co oc. But I don't think I trust handing the reins over to someone who has seen so little coaching experience so far.
