Great post. And great perspective. We haven't fixed anything yet but there is a palpable difference in the team, the energy, the enthusiasm and the fort. I couldn't be more stoked about this team and this department. I only hope that they can keep it up !

For those that were there to ride the rollercoaster
hickoryhouse replied to untcampbell's topic in Mean Green Football
I followed along in Twitter and ESPN game cast at work. What a ride. My employees thought I was crazy when we won. They didn't know what I was watching and I think I might have been a bit loud! great game! Great win! We have a coach, a team, a defense and what looks like a quarterback! I couldn't be more excited! -
I can't watch or listen here at work but it seems from everything I see that the 2nd quarter is a totally different ballgame. Mason hooking up with Kenny for a 75 yd strike!! I can't wait to watch this game on replay.

Nope. No rivalry at all. nothing to see here. move along. -
Getting the $ is a step in getting to a place where we can get more wins... Why not just try to start with the wins and the $ will come with the subsequent attendance.

Mason Fine post game presser tonight
hickoryhouse replied to UNT 90 Grad's topic in Mean Green Football
I thought the fact that we were his ONLY fbs offer meant that he was supposed to fail, or stink, or not be ready, or suck..... None of that seems to be the case and everyone that spoke about this kid who knew him has been telling us that since day one. Our coaching staff has been telling us that since day one. He has some growing and maturing and learning to do but WHO CARES who else offered him, we did. IF he is as good as he seems so far both on and off the field will that prove the "only one offer" crowd wrong? -
Good for him! I know we might not like him as an AD anymore but I am more than happy to have him as a fan!

The strangest place I have ever found UNT gear is at a beer store in Carrollton called Lone Star Beverages at Josey and Frankford. not only does it have one of the best craft beer selections in all of DFW, no exaggeration, the owner just opened up a second shop in Denton. Every time I talk to the man, Sam, he tells me how both of his children went to UNT and how much his family loves the school. He says he sells Mean Green coolers to try and get some of that money back! great guy, great business adn great UNT fan. If you ever need a UNT foam cooler or random UNT coozie when you buy your craft beer, Lone Star is your spot!

Chuck Landon: Fees for exiting C-USA not cheap
hickoryhouse replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I like where we are in the cusa. Higher profile than the belt and still a place where we can go through all these growing pains. The fact that it is cos prohibitive to leave is great for us at this point. Hopefully it will add some stability in an otherwise shaky ncaaf landscape. -
Wren Baker Press Conference at 10 a.m(CT)
hickoryhouse replied to MGNation92's topic in Mean Green Football
That makes perfect sense to me. I assume that there will be internal goals and quotas to hit. I don't necessarily want that to be public. When we hit those goals make them public and celebrate. Don't give our competitors ammo to use against us -
I'm not saying criticism isn't deserved. Of course we should scrutinize the methods that our university choose to expose the brand and endorse the product. I don't disagree with that at all and honest feedback should be treasured. My frustration lies in the fact that our first reaction is negative, punitive and critical. Those base negatives seem to be our starting point for everything. We can't get past the bad enough to even recognize the nugget of good. What happens if your only interaction with your employees is to tell them what they are doing wrong and never what they are doing right? i guess my main beef is why is it so difficult to be constructively critical as opposed to, "this sucks"?

i like that as a group we have been clambering and shouting for something... anything that makes us appear that we are making an effort. "PLEASE UNT AD MAKE AN EFFORT!!!!!" seems to have been the rallying cry around here for as long as I can remember... Then when we get something that shows they are starting to make that effort we shit on it... We are a good group! Of course there are mistakes and room for improvement. But is it so hard to enjoy some growth... even for just for a minute before we decide to blow it up and proclaim it as a failure?
