  1. Good article, thanks for posting to the site. Very interesting to look at that and how it works.
  2. I envy the day when there are no more money games, and we get home and home or neutral site agreements with the big boys and can play right there with or even beat them. But, that being said, we aren't close to that yet, thus we need the money games. There's a lot you can do for the program with an extra $1,000,000 cash.
  3. None of the above. Though the helmet(s) look good, those uniforms pictured are no bueno.
  4. Boy that article doesn't do anything but make the conference look terrible. Honestly, I think when the league was formed it was extremely weak, and included several schools who just had 'start-up' football programs. However, I believe this league today is formidable and continously improving. Yeah, since the footprint of the conference is geographically located in SEC country, and most of the schools need to play 'money' games to improve their financial situations within the athletic program; the out of conference results look bad. But when you're playing Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Florida, etc, there's just not a whole lot of teams within their own or from other big boy conferences beating those programs either.
  5. Book 'Em Whorns!
  6. The WAC is not the answer. Why not stay pat, and look at the long term? What about building this thing into a team that contends for Sun Belt championships and bowl games? Winning cures a lot of ills. Build the school, build the brand, add baseball, and make North Texas an irresistable add for C-USA, Mountain West, etc. (the second tier conferences).
  7. No, the initial ones are prototypes. Meaning they finish one out, and adjust the rest. They fix the prototype to match the others.
  8. Not UNT, because this is not all about football. Look at the entire scope of the athletics program. Does this benefit UNT?
  9. My guesses on low, low attendance numbers would be (regardless of conference) : Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Idaho, Kent State, Louisiana-Monroe, Miami of Ohio, Northern Illinois, Rice, San Jose State Those schools are located in markets that do not allow for a ton of support for a variety of reasons.
  10. Very neat deal that HKS does in all of their facilities. They build 1 "prototype" restroom and concession stand for review very early in the process, so that they build them to your liking as they advance in the process, and the remainder of the restrooms and concessions are to your liking.
  11. Cole is gone. Article has some good points, but I wouldn't look for many of the HS kids to have an immediate impact on a team with depth and 17 starters returning. Zach Orr would be my Freshman to watch as far as getting on the field early, and as mentioned in the article, Brandin Byrd coming in early and going through spring ball certainly can't hurt his cause. We have to groom one to fill the void when Dunbar leaves down the road.
  12. Derek Thompson, no questions asked, no if's, and's, or but's about it. Without good QB play, you cannot win. With good QB play, you have a chance.
  13. Did you just make an inference that compared the WAC to the SEC? Please tell me no.
  14. Good points. It's nice to have Love Field too, as that's where our team flies out of.
  15. La Tech is a natural and of course North Texas (hopefully)!
  16. Good stuff. I have to say I am excited about Draylen going in motion and either demolishing some OLB on a kickout block for Dunbar, or catching a pass in the flat in the redzone and bowling over some halpless defender for a TD.
  17. Predictions/Bets on where NT falls in the Rivals countdown? I'll say 92nd
  18. 1) The SEC is a better league across the board, across the entire spectrum of men's and women's sports. 2) $$$ 3) TV 4) They'll kill everything and everyone in the Big XII North, and then run into Oklahoma or Texas which will send them from a potential BCS game (again $$$) to the Holiday Bowl or the Alamo Bowl (a lot less $$$).
  19. Arkansas would be foolish to leave the SEC.
  20. For all the public knows, this could could be "secretly committed".
  21. No question about it. Scary thing is that Houston has been good on the road under Sumlin. But that's okay. This is a good, geographically desirable game, and hopefully will be a sellout in the new place.
  22. There are and would be several viable candidates when the UNT Baseball program opens up. Some of the names would surprise people. Baseball can quickly be the most successful sport at North Texas, no question about it.
  23. If I were a betting man I'd place my bet on Arizona State as they're the most balanced team. But, you never know.
  24. We all know Jerry is a forward thinker!
