  1. Brooks physically looks great. Looks like those "big time" d lineman we play against from Alabama and Clemson most recently. Hopefully he can play like them as well. Shaw has a great frame and could end up being a 6'6" 310 type of guy. Ellard is tall but not real wide yet. Looks like a good athlete though. Whitfield is smaller, I'd guess 5'8" 180 or so (hard to tell in baggy clothes), and as we've seen from his recent track results he can fly; And Cooper Jones is tall and skinny, definitely 6'4"but needs to eat and hit the weights big time.
  2. Terrell and his father were out at practice today. They were VERY enthusiastic about things and followed the D-Line everywhere they went. We don't have many or any players who look like Terrell in a uniform. Also in attendance today were Grant Shaw from Forney, Travis Ellard from Deer Park, Cooper Jones from Lone Oak, Zach Whitfield from Sherman. There was an O-lineman from Corsicana and a massive one from Trinity Valley CC via McKinney Boyd watching practice.
  3. Awesome to see that Chris Jones, Trey Norris, and Jordan Williams all were District MVP's as well.
  4. And that was with the false step with his right foot at the start. That time should improve.
  5. They've flown out of Love Field for as long as I can remember. Normally get the same flight attendant on every flight.
  6. Great find there Flyer
  7. The switch to Nike will be great. They will take care of the athletic department as well as the fans, and our green will be consistent. Is anyone else (objectively speaking) a little nervous about this nonconference schedule? If you take a look at it, I am not so sure it's not the toughest one we've had in a while: Week 1 @ Florida International- the hottest program in the Sun Belt right now, experience returning, coming off a bowl victory, dominated us in Denton last year Week 2 Houston- a much improved program begninning to garner regional attention and some national attention, have their QB returning for his 10th year of eligibility; and clearly when he went down last year it cost that team tremendously, this game will test Bowen and McCarney to their wits end on defense Week 3 @ Alabama- preseason #1 or #2 on everyone's lists, 102,000 in Bryant Denny Stadium (though I look forward to seeing how Mac approaches this game and these type of games going forward versus this previous regime), Saban, enough said Week 4 Indiana- a Big 10 opponent, new coach and staff who's very hungry, and made that clear, I like this game after a week against the Sun Belt, but not after playing Rammer Jammer Week 5 @ Tulsa- the best offense in the country the last 4-5 years, constantly wining 8-10 ballgames recently
  8. Good point Eagle! Listen to a recording of the call in to the radio show and you get an idea of this guy.
  9. How is this particular case not being a "passionate fan"? The guy loves Alabama, went down to Auburn which is 30 minutes from his house, and poisoned the University's most recognized landmark because they (Auburn) beat his school (Alabama) in the Iron Bowl. I'm not writing any behavior off, but would this had happened if the guy were not a passionate Crimson Tide fan? I'll let you draw that conclusion.
  10. This is certainly a reprimandible act; but it's proof as to how serious SEC fans take their football. I attended the Florida-Bama game last year at Bryant-Denny and I was amazed at the behavior of fans from both sides; including vandalism, violence, and theft to name a few. I hate to say this, but the best conference in college football also has the most passionate fans; and sometimes thsoe fans will be idiots.
  11. Great article, great publicity. McCarney is going to do great things here at North Texas. Had dinner with some friends the other night, and their daughter dates Bryce Tennison who plays Offensive Line at SMUt. He said that the players and coaches down at SMUt are very impressed with the McCarney hire; and know that he will turn things around quickly in Denton.
  12. Big Andrew Power will look good in a single digit number.
  13. No question about this. Chico has just said a few times to me that Adepipe is a great athlete for his size; and he has a mean streak to boot.
  14. Anyone know if there is going to be a reception or any type of get together for the football signing class?
  15. My guess would go: LT: Adepipe LG: Feeley C: Johnson RG: Fortenberry RT: Tomlinson Chico really thinks Adepipe has something. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cyril Lemon in the mix as a youngster either.
  16. We have not played well since the long December layoff. Period.
  17. Seen both play and they Are both legitimate!
  18. Hopefully they'll have the highlights and assistant coaches speaking up there later. Really want to see these highlights!
  19. I'm with you TFLF! My power company is Conducting "rolling outages" today because of the recent weather. My plan was to get a nice shower and put on some green for today, but first off I cannot see in the bathroom and secondly there is no warm water. But nevertheless, I am excited about signing day! Go Mean Green!
  20. I would be cautious to jump the gun that quickly. Seen Liberty play and the only D1 kid on that team was their kicker who's going to Rice on baseball scholarship. This kid may look good on paper but hold off on saying " let's offer him now" please.
  21. Nooooo! Keep this event!
  22. You'll start to see this group of coaches offering sooner, and beginning the process for the next class immediately after singing day. Basically we'll trend that way.
  23. This is a an oustanding pickup! Premium talent in the trenches. This guy was offered on a trip to Missouri and is coming to Denton. Last time I checked, Missouri has a pretty good offense that starts in the trenches with their athletic linemen who do a great job protecting the QB and creating massive running lanes the few times they do run. Cyril will be an impact player here. This is great stuff!
