The old Sears never worried about Walmart analogy...very true!
-
Great! Any idea on if Trice and C. Feldt count toward that number?
-
And OSU should finish ahead of them.
-
Sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the insight.
-
I guess I didn't realize this, and I attended several practices...interesting though!
-
I believe that yesterday and today combines physicals, weigh-in, and media day. Pretty soon they should update the fall roster with the most up-to-date names, numbers, and heights/weights.
-
BBQ, cold beer, good sweet tea, and Coach Mac (who's AWESOME to listen to). this will be fun!
-
We have definitely moved up in the world if we have seperate practice and game helmets. But I like the framework of that helmet Marcus Trice is wearing (so excited he's here...going to be fun to watch in spring ball and next fall), and it does look like a Nike sort of concept.

Bad lighting or an odd green? Picture appears to be in locker room bathroom area

Yes, PLEASE move it to evenings!

Absolutely it's available for rental. In fact, according to the AD the club level is in high demand for event rental.

If you think A to B, B to C, etc... Last year we were decimated by the injury bug. We had below average coaching. We played in Fouts Field. We fire Todd and have Canales as the interim and everything looks like a new ballclub. Pull off 2 wins on the road and take Troy and Kansas State to the wire with a "Mash" unit for a roster. Okay, fast forward to this season: Starting out, everyone is healthy. We have the best coaching staff and most experieced by far in the league. Canales is hear as Offensive Coordinator now to provide continuity. We have a proven Defensive Coordinator, and a head coach who places an emphasis on defense. We have a Special Teams coach from Boise State and Colorado. We have an incredible new facility. Now, the schedule is very difficult out of the gate, but I think with all of these above factors into play that 4 of the first 5 games are winnable (at least we have a chance to compete with this staff) and then I believe as we saw in the last 5 games last year that we could have some wonderful success in conference play and end up with a solid record to end the 2011 campaign.

Cam does have to sit out this season, which is his RS Freshman year. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining with the 2012 season begins this time next year. Boone will obviously be here as a True Frosh; though I wouldn't be surprised if Boone did not graduate early in order to go through Spring Ball and get acquainted.
-
Just an FYI, but Boone is the #9 Center in the country by ESPN
-
Great news! Watched Boone at Pilot Point, and at FNL on Friday, he's a great looking prospect. His feet are incredible, and he's relentless. Love getting the two Feldt boys on board as they are top tier lineman. I believe Cam was the 8th best Tackle coming out, and now Boone the 11th best Center ( and dad was an undersized workhorse lineman for Tech back in the day). These are an entirely different echelon of player than we have been able to get. The first time I got to sit down with McCarney before he was introduced at the press conference he made no bones about it that there were a lot of things to fix, but that the offensive and defensive lines and fixing the defense all together would be top priorities.

UNT Commit #9: OL Boone Feldt, Buda Hays
UNT Mean Green replied to H-towngreen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Exactly what we needed coming out of the weekend! Wonderful news and glad to have Cam and Boone for the next 3 to 4 years, as well as the entire Feldt family! -
Good review Harry! Don't think they can pave lot across street as that is where baseball facilities will go

UNT Commit #8: LB Royce LeFrance, Helen Cox
UNT Mean Green replied to NT03's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I believe LeFrance was wearing red shorts with a black top last night and if that's indeed him, he was an absolute specimen. I was visiting with Coach Mac and pointed at that player, and Mac says "that's what they looked like in Gainesville." Huge get, and I'd believe those Rivals measurements to be accurate -
I must say that the prospects of Micah Thompson, Terrell Brooks, and Sir Calvin Wallace at DT in the future are very exciting. Micah excites me as being a country strong, physically gifted kid from a small town who, with the abundant resources and coaching he will receive, could turn into a really special player. Not to mention the frames of Micah and Terrell are physically imposing.
-
Yes, these would be two huge pickups. I believe we will get a QB out of this weekend. It appeared that Chico liked 5 or 6. And there were certainly some good looking ones out of what seemed like 40+ QB's. I did see some getting quite a bit of attention and they were the standouts physically for sure, be it 40 time or body/frame, etc. I do not know names other than Ballard and Feldt (and commit Rex Rollins who may have been best skill athlete there), but I'm sure there's a few kids with offers who were participating or kids who may get offers very soon.
-
Watched Rex last night at the Friday Night Lights and he certainly stood out amongst the crowd, oh and ran a smooth 4.4 something while just "gliding" . Great looking athlete, easy to see why he was regarded as one of the best athletes at the recent 7 on 7 State Tournament by Rivals.com. I'd say he's probably 6'1" 185 or so right now, and he's lean. He appears to be a guy who can gain 10-15 pounds and not lose a step as he is extremely light on his feet. This is a very good looking athlete, and I truly believe this staff knows how to identify true Division 1 talent. I'll say that seeing Rex and Malik Dilonga (did not participate but was in street clothes)made me realize times are changing in Denton. If we look 2-3 years down the road, the physical appearance of this team and team speed will be night and day from where it is today.

Boone was in attendance last night and is a great looking prospect. He had the best feet there in the OL group. Met his grandfather who was a great guy, and he was saying how much Cam already loved it, and the best thing to happen tomthe program was Dan McCarney. He said Boone loved it to and this is where he'd like to be. We'll see what happens this weekend. Also, Gerron Ballard is a specimen and we want him...trust me. He's in the Andrew Power category physically but is very fluid and effortless moving around, running, etc
-
Awesome news. This is big time stuff, coming from big time leadership of our football program. The investments (finally) this University has made in the entire program is going to pay dividends. This place has the ability to be big time, and will be in due time now that the pieces are in place. And I hope we get Boone Feldt, Gerron Ballard, and a good QB out of this weekend (there were over 40 there last night).

I'm sure the Green Gang guys will be "Inside the Iron" for practices this year, and "Inside the Stadium" for the scrimmages. I too loved the coaches mic'd up and hope they can do this again this year; except they may need a "Bleeper" for some of these coaches!
