I believe this kids father is Brett Maxie, who coached for the Panthers, Falcons, Dolphins, and Cowboys.

This kid is a stud. A physical specimen who appears physically ready to contribute early in his career wherever he ends up. The only question is what position does he play? -

Dodge to Tempe? -
Puhleeaaasssseee!!!!

Wow, that puts it in perspective. I looked at a 2008 recruiting list recently specifically for QB's and Riley Dodge was ranked right behind Andrew Luck, 23 spots ahead of Robert Griffin and 45 spots ahead of Jordan Jefferson. Not to knock Riley, but we all know how that turned out. I think that shows you that those lists have limited merit.

Taylor Bible Leaving UT
UNT Mean Green replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
If there's anyone who could turn him into something by motivating him and guiding him it's Coach Mac. No doubt the talent is there for Taylor. You know that our staff will do their due diligence on this one. On another former longwhorn, any news on Traylon Shead? -
That scenario of getting those 3 would be unbelievable!

Grand, my comments about the physicality of players from that part of the South was not a shot at Texas high school kids. It was more that I don't think people from Texas are quite aware of the incredible talent pools in the less populated states of the South. Go look at FBS and NFL rosters. Louisiana (2.49 per 1000), Florida (2.27 per 1000), Alabama (2.14 per 1000), and Georgia (1.98 per 1000) constantly have more players on those rosters per capita than anyone else, including Texas (1.84 per 1000) and Ohio (1.78 per 1000) which are talent rich states. It's intersting because it seems that the kids from the south do not have the multi-million dollar facilities at their high schools and the organization/structure or coaching that the kids from Texas have; yet there is a ton of raw talent down there; and all of that being said I am glad that Coach Mac is tapping into it. And I really like the Southern Miss comparision---agree 100%.

What an outstanding leader! Coach Mac "gets it" for sure. Thanks for sharing

Coach Mac has obviously assigned a member of his staff to Louisiana and is apparently cleaning up pretty good down there. Royce LaFrance, Devante Davis, Mark Lewis, (apparently the other kid at the banquet from LA whom La Tech was after committed as well). Get the best 25 players you can possibly get. I don't care if they're all from Texas or not...and I believe Mac would say the same thing (while stating D/FW is a priority-as he has clearly made it). You and I both know that those kids from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida are just "different"...in a good way. They're bigger, thicker, stronger, faster, more tenacious, and seem to be "rougher around the edges" than Texas high school players. Hence the unparalleled success of the SEC and the physicality on the rosters down there. Shoot, look at Southern Miss versus Houston. They had different systems, but the way those Southern Miss kids "looked" from a physical standpoint was much more impressive than UH's kids. It looks like this is shaping up to be a very good class, and a very physical class of players. Bigger bodies at all positions is clearly an emphasis. Lewis is a good land, congratulations to our staff and I can't wait to see him wear the Green and White for the next few years.

Way to go Lance!

Outstanding win for North Texas tonight. It was great to see the Mean Green dominate from start to finish; and see #5 break multiple records tonight. What dedication from a fantastic player and young man who gave everything to this place for several years. It's great to see these kids go out and give their all for their university and this football program. Coach Mac definitely has this thing headed in the right direction! It's about to get very fun Mean Green nation!

That'd be a nice one for sure. There's still plenty of good ones out there!

Mean Green Football Banquet Dec. 9th 6pm

Good point.... -
Mac has said all along that building programs for the long-haul takes signing good high school players over and over. He wants to establish quality depth and get players familiar with the systems. From what we can see (I'd bet there's a few more commits than this) we have committed 14 HS players plus the 2 D1 Transfers for this class. Last year I believe we signed 23 HS kids and 2 JC players. I'd bet the ratio of this incoming class would be 20 HS, 3 JC, and the 2-maybe, hopefully more- D1 Transfers (Feldt, Trice).

I've always assumed he could make a nice CB tandem with Freddie Warner but there has been some discussion of him playing safety. Guess we will see in the spring...

Should be an interesting read!
