  1. What does this TonyJ-Assembly05 guy really know? Is he connected to RV / Smatresk / Brint Ryan?
  2. While recruiting DFW is absolutely paramount, it seems that Meacham being at TCU for the last 2 years is being overblown into Littrell can't recruit Texas. The guy grew up in Muskogee, and was on a staff at Texas Tech with plenty of Texas connections which have multiplied through the years. Having been coaching at this level for such a long time (for a younger guy), it is totally about relationships. You can bet that Littrell has them. Also, this concern about recruiting is more about who the head coach hires on his staff as they will conduct the majority of recruiting activities anyway.
  3. Littrell has an excellent track record coordinating the offense at multiple stops. It's interesting to see his impact specifically at his last two jobs (Indiana and UNC), which are historically teams at the bottom of their respective conferences. One thing that is great to see is how his offense adapts from season to season, game to game, and obviously to his players. He threw it all over at Arizona with Nick Foles. Averaged 508 yards per game at Indiana with 300+ passing and 200+ rushing. This year, Litrell's offense averaged 41.2 points per game and was very balanced with 230 yards per game rushing and 266 passing. One noticeable stat is his team's "yards per play" being 7.5 yards. Also, "points per play at .621 is the top in the country. So he's clearly not a guy trying to run 100 plays per game; rather is appears to be about maximizing efficiency.
  4. It seems somewhat realistic to understand the major "threat" of him leaving would be for the Oklahoma job. But, it's fair to say that "if" we got to that point, we'd all be happy anyways
  5. Littrell has 100% autonomy of the offense,as he did at Arizona and Indiana.
  6. Littrell is a no brainer!
  7. Guys...don't you think we need a little perspective here? If Meachum and Littrell are indeed the finalists, aren't you talking about two of the best offensive coordinators in America up for this job?
  8. Harry, do you think he can double the salary? Knowing a little bit of how things work over there, I'd venture to say Meachum is making at least $500k now.
  9. This should be our guy. Up and coming; yet tons of experience at a high level. He will know how to recruit, and should be able to form a solid staff having been around in these big conferences for a long time.
  10. Impressive credentials. Repeated success at multiple stops calling plays.
  11. Well put GMG24. It's mind-boggling how horrific the lack of recruiting prowess under McCarney's watch has been. Sickening really. Surely a young, energetic offensive coach will come with an aggressive recruiting philosophy to stop the nonsense and get back to getting the best talent possible in Denton.
  12. Seems to meet all of the criteria. Great track record and a lot of experience as an offensive coach. Out of the Leach tree. Spent plenty of time in Oklahoma and Texas. http://www.goheels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209385752 http://www.scout.com/college/north-carolina/story/1576644-offense-making-strides http://www.landgrantholyland.com/2014/12/15/7394469/ohio-state-2014-offensive-coordinator-coaching-targets http://keepingitheel.com/2014/01/21/closer-look-uncs-new-oc-seth-littrell/ http://www.goheels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209385434 http://www.si.com/college-football/campus-union/2014/04/10/unc-tar-heels-seth-littrell-spring-football http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/9251/qa-arizona-co-offensive-coordinator-seth-littrell-part-i http://www.southernpigskin.com/sec/top-five-candidates-to-replace-brent-pease/ Thoughts?

  13. Don't you guys think that we are in a major "chicken or egg" situation here? With the current team (and subsequent QB situation), McCarney publicly gives the same rhetoric about McNulty (hard worker, overachiever, best camp by far and it's not even close, respect of his teammates, etc...) and the remainder of the depth chart at the position. It certainly appears that Mac is too stubborn to swallow his pride and his words after multiple embarrassments as a direct result of incompetent performances by McNulty at the QB position. Within this it causes extremely difficult circumstances for the defense as a game wears on, and it also causes the rest of the team to lose confidence in their chances to win with an offense led by McNulty. So McCarney chooses to play McNulty for NO GOOD REASON AT ALL and not give a kid who could GET ON THE FIELD AT A TOP 25 PROGRAM (UCF) a chance because "he doesn't know the playbook" or "he is behind because he failed a class"? I'm sorry - McNulty CAN'T PLAY and Greer CAN'T PLAY - so why is Mac so hellbent on the insane behavior of continuing to run these guys out there and let 10 stand on the sidelines with his red baseball hat while our offense is visibly an embarrassment and a consequential hazard to the rest of the football team? If you take a look at the offense Chico ran under Dodge and then as interim HC - and even up to 2013 - those offenses looked "different". They also had a much more capable player pulling the trigger and therefore it was easier to "open up the offense" since the QB could complete the basic passing tree routes and was talented and instinctual enough to make some plays. Is it fair to assume that the offense looked like it did Saturday (and in 2014) because of the lack of talent and ability at the QB position? In another fashion, McCarney has dismissed two highly talented players (Berglund and Williams) and chosen to live with McNulty and Greer (another QB who may look like Joe Montana in practice but cannot hack it under the bright lights of gameday) as his "bus-driver" QB's and quite honestly the results speak for themselves. Probably the worst offensive college football team in the state of Texas (including the Longhorns with Swoopes). You think that kids (recruits) are beating the door down to come play at North Texas? Their Junior High teams are running better offenses than this, and their friend who's their HS quarterback is probably a more talented player than what we have at North Texas (minus DeMarcus Smith). This insanity with McNulty and the QB position as a whole is an absolute joke!
  14. 1) How would you grade McNulty's performance against SMU? 2) Why 3 runs up the middle on the first possession after capitalizing on great field position from the botched SMU punt? 3) Will there be an open audition at QB this week? 4) Where was the Defensive End on the "Toss Sweep" play? 5) How do the players not lose confidence after a loss in a terribly sloppy game?
  15. Oh no, did not realize that was Rollins. Could not get see the number.
  16. Does anyone have any insight into the players who were injured last night at SMU? It seemed that we had a pretty serious one after the Davis QB run in the 4th quarter that required attention from North Texas and SMU medical and training staff's. Prayers for this young man.
  17. Dajon and Means each had nice games today. McNulty sucks. No arm strength, holds the ball forever, cant hit routine elementary passing tree throws that are being completed at junior high schools all around Denton County. If our staff is set on him, it'll be a terribly long season. Good news is that WR, TE, and RB are all looking solid. Let's hope we figure out how to get DeMarcus eligible
  18. I've seen this kid play several games. He certainly has the arm talent to play FBS football, there's no doubt about it.
  19. Saw some SMU coaches on the Euless Trinity sideline and bench area during the Allen v. Trinity playoff game at Apogee a few weekends ago (while the current staff was in Connecticut coaching their last game of the season).
  20. No; please no; not another QB from out-of-state. If we cannot successfully evaluate and recruit high school QB's in this state - like 120 other FBS schools can do successfully, we have significant problems.
  21. Amen. Younger, vibrant staff; a well recognized name who runs an offense that these kids are accustomed to and want to play in... We had better be prepared to lose the majority of the head to head battles with SMU for a while.
  22. Evans, Wilson, and Ivery can provide a nice speed accent to the running game - especially now with a true threat at QB. We can't expect to bang those guys up inside (a la Pegram and Jimmerson) and them stay healthy.
  23. Good chance that this is an effort to develop some chemistry with Dajon in the huddle and on the field in a game situation. The schedule is set up really well for a QB change. Nicholls State gives an opportunity for that in-game experience; bye week gives an opportunity to evaluate, correct, and implement more offense; and Indiana gives a good "tune-up" non-conference opportunity heading into C-USA play.
  24. Pray for Dajon that he's able to "force himself" to do all of the little things that this staff 'likes to see in QB's' this week in practice! We need him...hate to say it like this...this season is riding on him. The Greer experiment needs to be over. No matter how crazy the kidding around or huddle demeanor may make you; it's time to saddle up with Dajon and live or die with him.
  25. Good perspective. Did ya'll notice that Wilson came out with a "shoulder area" injury and the training staff took his pads off for the rest of the game?
