Spots available in this class
UNT Mean Green replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Billy - Apparently, we have several walk ons who Mac and a staff "pushed forward" meaning awarded them scholarships for next academic year, (however else that works). Not certain if you have heard this or not, but if this is the case, then this staff is working with a lesser amount than 25. At this point in the game, wouldn't you want to hold back a small handful of scholarships for whatever may happen (kids holding out for better offers, post spring roster casualties at P5 programs, late qualifiers, etc.) anyway despite lack of quality depth at most position groups. Advise... -

Perfect. Let's get DQ and Bryce to anchor the core of that defense! -
Littrell might be looking for a kicker

Oldroyd would be a nice addition. Carroll has an incredible tradition of outstanding kickers. -

Hope that we offer and are able to get this kid right here to go alongside Bryce English. That duo could absolutely wreak havoc in C-USA! -
Shane Elder to North Texas Football Scoop It appears that Littrell has a new member of the football staff in an "off the field" role (Football Operations) , in Shane Elder formerly of UTSA and Texas A&M football programs. Looks like an excellent candidate in an ever-important role.

MGB: Littrell adds three assistants
UNT Mean Green replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Nice staff coming together! Plenty of youth and experience at the same time. -
Littrell has been quoted as saying you adapt the offense to your personnel. Historically, it's easy to see that he does this. At Arizona they were pass happy. At UNC, more run focused. The system adjusts with different players, which is one of the beautiful things about Littrell and his offensive approach.

This kid demonstrates the ability to make all of the throws. Could be a real cornerstone in helping establish the exciting Littrell / Harrell offense in Denton! Let's get he and Justus Lee.

Only for Press Conference. Jeans and Boots the rest of the time.

With an exciting brand of football and winning - the gameday atmosphere can be very good!

Littrell on the ticket this morning
UNT Mean Green replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
Littrell is breath of fresh air. He's a genuine person and coach a.k.a. "what you see is what you get". Very energetic and hungry to build something extremely special here. -
It would seem that Littrell may choose to follow the route that Holtz and co. have followed in the last few years by getting FBS graduate transfer(s) who are eligible immediately. This on top of signing a couple of QB's (maybe as many as 1 juco and 2 high school kids) would solidify the position for years to come. I have zero doubt in Seth's (and his staff's) ability to identity, recruit, and develop bona fide QB talent. This will be a very welcome change that we haven't seen around here under McCarney.

UNC Football: Coach Littrell Post Practice - 12/1
UNT Mean Green replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Seth is a pure football coach who is (clearly based on his track record) all about substance and results. -
Good point. He will want complete continuity on offense. Naturally, the first place to look would be immediate potential candidates on Leach's staff at WazZu with Texas ties: Clay McGuire Graham Harrell Then expanding from there: James Patton - Indiana Dennis Simmons - OU Bill Bedenbaugh - OU Kerry Cooks - OU Brandon Jones - Cal Brian Mitchell - West Virginia Zach Spavital - Texas Tech Jeff Lebby - Baylor Joe John Finley - Baylor Drew Mehringer - UH Sterlin Gilbert - Tulsa Justin Hill - Tulsa

Absolutely. More than likely things are being finalized between North Texas and Littrell's agents on the details of a contract. Also, we want to respect the current situation at UNC, and not cause distractions or headaches over there while trying to gameplan and prepare for the #1 team in the country.

Since we have a week to formally announce Seth Littrell as our next Head Coach, who are some potential assistants that he may hire to fulfill his coaching staff?

UNC Message Board On Littrell Rumors
UNT Mean Green replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
This is well put. It would be nice if the media would lay off of trying to break the latest (most often not the greatest) news and be considerate of the UNC program who is trying to beat the #1 team in the country this week. -
Littrell is an absolute slam dunk!

It does seem pretty obvious that if it's Meacham it would be announced sooner than Littrell for this very fact. But, I would question the validity of this tweet. -
What do we have left for next season
UNT Mean Green replied to southsideguy's topic in Mean Green Football
This is well put. This is going to be a major overhaul for the next head coach. There's a lot of guys who do not belong on a FBS football field whatsoever and there are way too many walk-ons. It definitely starts at QB, and I do believe that either candidate is capable of identifying and signing multiple QB's. Todd Monken brought in Nick Mullens in his first year and has built a nice program at Southern Miss after they were completely in the dumps. Littrell or Meachum should be able to accomplish similar tasks. -
Tweet says UNT Hire is complete! Announcement tomorrow
UNT Mean Green replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Exactly. While everyone is excited, I would be reluctant to take anything to the bank yet.
