  1. If you know Littrell and his staff at all, this group is the opposite of "good ole boy system". They are clearly offering Kuehne on projection, and I have heard nothing other than "this kids going to be the real deal".
  2. Don't see the negative here. The reality is that, no matter how you cut it, Morris and Shanbour are unproven commodities, and the guys below them on the depth chart cannot cut the mustard. There's no doubt that we need to upgrade the QB position talent, and that's why O'Hara is a smart late pickup. As we know, the full court press on Ryan Finley from Boise couldn't overcome his ties to his old offensive coordinator and P5 environment in Raleigh, and we had to have another capable QB addition heading into fall camp. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get another late one as well.
  3. This is a nice late qualifier. Glad to see the staff turning over every rock in order to upgrade the talent on a roster that won one game.
  4. Good background...Sounds like the Liberty staff needs to figure out a way to get both of these kids on the field. One would think that Littrell and staff have seen enough of Kuehne to project this one.
  5. Absolutely! Defensive front will look a lot different this fall with the addition of these long, fast juco kids. Let's hope they can play!
  6. Congratulations to Will on this offer! Good job by the staff to get this one out there early. Will has had a lot of success / accolades at a young age, and comes from a tremendous athletic background from his parents and family.
  7. Major physical upgrade with these kids. Great job by the staff to go and find these kids.
  8. Absolutely. Ekeler killing it! Defense to be the strong suit this fall. Size / speed of new players with this scheme (it's tough to prepare for), will lead to a substantial improvement on D.
  9. Yes. And he was in Denton this past weekend. Fingers crossed!
  10. Was anyone able to recognize some of the recruits at the Spring Game? Here are are a couple that my party identified: Ryan Finley - QB, Paradise Valley (Boise State) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/boise-state-qb-ryan-finley-to-pursue-graduate-transfer-155509439.html?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed Deondre Carter - DE, Cedar Hill http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4288868/highlights/298304383 Riko Jeffers - LB, Sachse http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3510234/riko-jeffers Calvin Clater - WR, South Hills http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4953410/calvin-clater Dan Moore - OL, Beaumont West Brook http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2981683/dan-moore-jr Malik Ellis - OL, Cisco College http://www.hudl.com/athlete/5403615/malik-ellis Chris Hawkins - OL, Nassau College http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1035219/christopher-hawkins Quentin Brown - LB, Sachse
  11. Exactly. The university is very fortunate to have a leader like Ryan, who is also financially vested in a number of avenues in and around North Texas. He, along with these 2 others are very intelligent people, who - while they may be personal friends with RV and other officers at the university - have a great desire to capitalize on all of this university's potential and start performing on the fields and courts of play like we "should be". It's fair for people to be skeptical of any hire by the athletic department given the track record; but it's a fact that, in the case of Littrell - this hire was selected from the top (Chairman of BoR, President...) down involving intelligent people, and people who frankly, we as fans should be grateful were involved in this process.
  12. Yes, the same person was counted in the count of 3 who were deeply involved with the Littrell hire.
  13. This is likely the case. Anyone on here who wants to criticize the proclaimed "17" because of their accepting / endorsing the hires and track record are simply missing the boat. As far as I know, the only athletics hire that has involved the "17", was Littrell where 3 of the "17" were highly involved in the decision and the hiring process with and including the President and Chairman of the Board. This is customary practice at universities across the country. I will certainly not mention any of those names, but they are 3 highly influential business leaders who have a keen eye for identifying and hiring the best talent; and know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to college athletics.
  14. 5 looked good. 26 had another good day. at WR 3 and 80 stood out. 87 and 31 made some nice plays from inside. On defense 95 and 7 were good.
  15. Awesome to get a local kid!
  16. Ekler and Reffett are awesome. Impressive hires by Littrell!
  17. 19 was active in the secondary. Reffett and Ekler seem to like him. Secondary has the most quality and depth. Once Baulkman and Turner arrive, it gets better. Nickel appeared to rotate between 19 and 41; and this defense does a lot of pre snap movement so it can be hard to tell. 81 went unnoticed. WR is scary thin right now. 1, 2, 3, 11, 80 are it as far as having any talent. Need help here in a hurry. Topline analysis is that our first team will be solid come Sept 3, but the depth is horrendous. This walk on "system" touted under McCarney is becoming abundantly clear that it's nothing more than clear evidence that the staff was poor at evaluating and developing FBS talent.
  18. Observations ENVIRONMENT: lots of energy from the staff, music playing the entire time, periods seem to be clearly mapped out, it appears players are settling into the new practice regimen QB: 5 is good, somewhat similar to Jeff Driskel; 19 is a good backup; after these two, it's clear that Means and Chumly are there for merely enough arms to practice RB: 26 is the best player on the field, and has a chance to have a big year in this offense; 29 is a solid complimentary back who can help in the passing game; not much depth after this; look for the freshman from Arlington Martin to provide immediate depth WR: 1 has a cast and was not effective; 2 had a good day, seems to be maturing; 3 is probably the best one of the bunch currently, looks similar to Josh Doctson of TCU, had several TD catches ; 11 looked solid inside catching several drag, slants, flats; 80 has upside; after this there's nothing in terms of quality; young recruits (Griffin, Bussey, Wilson) will easily make two deep OL: first group today is okay with exception of C; 64 plays hard; 67 is decent; 54 and 76 look completely overwhelmed and out of place; no depth here; signing of Cody Hayes is huge and may need another immediate impact guy to help this fall TE: while it looks like this staff wants use the TE, there's a lot of development needed to have any effectiveness; 86 is the best athlete but looks lost DE: 7 looked very good, dominating 67 routinely; 30 was solid; didn't notice 56; 94 is quick; 95 appears to have a chance to be best of group; 99 plays with a high intensity DT: 15 was okay; 34 is a difference maker; 44 wasn't good; 49 was solid; 98 was good LB: 10 was active; 17 seemed to make plays here and there; 32 was strong; 36 was okay; 37 made some plays; very thin position group that will benefit from addition of top recruits DB: this is the best group on the team; 16 and 19 made a lot of plays; 21 and 23 were solid; 31 was solid; 34 was good; 41 was a step slow
  19. Alec Morris
  20. Absolutely agree on this Harry. The writing is on the wall. It'll be: Morris, Shanbour, Means, Fine, and "player TBD" (who is probably at another FBS program going through spring practice now...)
  21. Wouldnt one think this is expected with a new staff and, consequently, a new culture? Be on the lookout for the addition of players who have graduated and still have years of eligibility to join the team after the completion of the "spring semester".
  22. It's highly likely that these players were unable to meet the demands of the current staff. Beginning with work ethic. One thing people may forget with this flashy offense, is that our head coach was a blue-collar, National Champion team captain Fullback; and in that Littrell and his staff are going to be incredible demanding of requiring a relentless work ethic from the players.
  23. Very impressive resume's on this staff. Love the Reffett addition to work closely with Ekler.
