MGB: Five thoughts on UNT's loss to Louisiana Tech
UNT Mean Green replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
With all due respect, I'm not certain that we have anyone on our roster who can cover (or tackle) Henderson. That kid was the best player on the field, and given his YPC of 20+, I would expect that he gets a nice chance to play on a Sunday's. -
Skip is a dang good coach. But that foundation was established before him under Sonny Dkyes. Tech has been good for 6+ Years with the lone down year being 2013 which was a Skip's first year. By contrast, we haven't had any consistent string of success in over a decade, and must give Littrell time to establish a strong foundation like Dykes did in Ruston prior to his departure to Cal.

The Back Judge and Side Judge were clearly on a mission to issue their quotas of flags. How many can you confidently throw from 15-20 yards? This was the second week in a row that we were trounced by the officials, and this week clearly represented an agenda by this crew. Hopefully (doubtful) C-USA will take action against this crew, and in particular the Back Judge and Side Judge.

Exactly. The kid has to meet the NCAA academic eligibility requirements first.

Congratulations on Eric. -
Yes. This was a definite horse collar (despite an incredible effort by the UTSA defender), and it definitely appeared that our sideline was extremely upset with the no call. Our C-USA officiating has been a joke this season.
-
That was a huge call, and I was hopeful to see it "side x side" with their first TD on the slant (where they clearly "rubbed" our defender to free 7 open).
-
Is there any video of the offensive PI call late in the 4th?
-
Don't you think this has to do with the abilities of the offensive line? It's pretty obvious that we are very hamstrung by what we can and cannot run due to the guys up front.
-
It was on Fox SW yesterday and was another outstanding episode.

Basing off of the USA Today is not 100% accurate (but you can get directionally an idea) in what the compensation is. They base off of tax returns which may include a whole host of different factors including bonuses or stipends. Hud at Lafayette is certainly "up there" (and totally out of balance with Sun Belt) in income.

Head coach can only visit a player or his school once during season. -
Interesting that there are some outstanding coaches who make <$1,000,000 annually in the MAC, MWC, CUSA, and Sun Belt. One would have to think that if our success continues in the coming weeks, we (University and Athletics leadership) would re-do Littrell's deal and "up" the assistant pool to be higher on that list. We should have full confidence in Wren Baker and his team's ability to take care of these coaches in this fashion.
-
Agreed. A $400,000 / school TV deal is a tremendously disappointing arrangement for C-USA.
-
Perfect. We need to be able to win Head to Head battles against AAC and MWC schools.
-
Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Maryland - any of those middle of the pack Big10 teams would be a great matchup. The intrigue of Iowa with the history between institutions or Indiana with Littrell versus his old boss would both be outstanding right there in the Cotton Bowl.
-
This is probably due to the apparel deal with Nike as much as anything.
-
Just hopeful that the Mean Green Nation shows up by the thousands and fills our side of the Alamodome to support this team.
-
Wilson had rushes for 3 yards, 4 yards (so it took two attempts for 7 yards in the first half) Mason Fine had rushes of 1 yard, -2 yards, -10 yards, 1 yard Ivery had a rush of 1 yard
-
Our ex Quarterback, Giovanni Vizza happens to be the Offensive Quality Control coach at UTSA. http://goutsa.com/coaches.aspx?rc=682&path=football
-
The negative yards in the first half were from two QB sacks and one or two attempted QB sweeps around the edge. Wilson had 7 yards in the first half.
