  1. You nailed it on the timing. AFCA Coaches Convention going on right now, and tons of jobs are shuffling as always around this time. Honest assessment that kick coverage units and punting game were solid. Return game was atrocious and FG's average-ish. This is likely a philosophical difference in style too between Perry and Littrell. Wonder if @SSP has any "inside" insights? Absolutely. You know the timing of this actually happening in the department and being announced in the media (with a simultaneous job posting) are weeks apart.
  2. Awesome video and what a great ambassadory tool for our university and football program! Turned down Big 12, ACC, etc. offers to stay close to home and had an outstanding career and experience at UNT.
  3. 1) It was communicated to the kid that he wouldn't play here 2) Quite the contrary, same thing as the kid received honest communication from the staff regarding foreseeable playing time, and help in getting him FCS offers across the state, hence the "decommitment"
  4. Wasn't it shown on a Beyond The Green Episode, that every morning at staff meeting, the entire coaching staff watches 5 prospects films at the beginning of each meeting?
  5. Absolutely, Mason (and all of our QB's and players) need to improve significantly. For an 18 year old playing small school HS football in Oklahoma, the kid played very admirably this past season. Look for a big improvement from Fine physically and mechanically. Also, being pushed by an uber-talented Isadore this spring, summer, and fall camp should inherently make Mason better, as it's evident that he's a very competitive kid.
  6. Yes, definitely Sonny Dykes and Berkeley were a very odd pairing. Absolutely. Sonny would (should) be a great fit in Lubbock.
  7. Hard to understand this one. Unless Cal has something up their sleeve with a big timer guy (like Chip Kelly). Sonny should surface somewhere in Texas.
  8. Yes. Only over 6'0" and 200+lbs.
  9. Evan Johnson? http://www.hudl.com/video/3/3551064/5721dfa864e96b63802ca4dc
  10. Likely a case where, at this point in the recruiting cycle, the staff determined that Lutz (for whatever reason) was not a good fit, or may not play here, etc. at which point, it appears at least based on Vito's blog, that was communicated open and honestly and the staff likely offered to help the kid find something else. No bridges burnt and likely a win-win for the player and UNT.
  11. UH staff offering several of our offered prospects.
  12. Exactly. Likely the later of those two reasons.
  13. Come on Vito. The $20,000,000 is revenue from Student Fees and the University. It is not a deficit. There's 100+ other FBS universities in the country with similar models. If you're going to report something, make certain that you have your facts straight.
  14. No question...this duo would be incredible.
  15. Yes, this is the true RB target in this class.
  16. They could add him as a blue shirt after it is determined that he qualifies (which may not be clear until May)
  17. Not 100% he is coming to UNT, but the situation would look like that if that were the case.
  18. Announced on signing day and enrolling in summer at UNT. Will attend a local JC for the spring semester.
  19. Don't think this will be a problem. Guyton is a high character kid who's always been a tremendous worker. He is a huge pickup for our program. He will be able to learn in the spring and develop alongside our other young WR's. Athletically, we should look A LOT different at receiver in 2017 in our ability to get open (create separation) and make competitive plays.
  20. Great post. This breakdown of the passing game performance in the HoD Bowl shows that when we improve the talent on offense (OL give QB adequate time; WR's more athletic, etc.) this "Let It Fly" theme will be very productive and entertaining to watch.
  21. You are correct, immediate impact OL.
