  1. Keep the Linemen coming! That gives us these linemen in the '07 & '08 recruiting class thus far: Eloy Atkinson 6'4" 280 Troy Franklin 6'5" 270 J.J. Johnson 6'2" 280 Jacob Kaiser 6'7" 290 Nic Leppo 6'3" 265 Matt Tomlinson 6'5" 270
  2. Ford is a great place to watch a game, is practical, and is very nice looking. It would be awesome if we could build close to the exact same stadium with a few exceptions: 1) 2 Tunnels for teams entering/leaving the field. 2) a Wider concourse between the lower & upper level. 3) steeper pitch, making it easier to see above the people sitting below. 4) Green chairback seats all on the home side. 5) instead of the red brick, build the exterior exactly the same as the Athletic Center.
  3. OU= too much speed! I don't think we were out-schemed or anything like that...we were simply out-athleted. When you can run a bubble route 3 plays in a row on the first drive and score, you know its bad. Not to mention, Defense was on the field way too much, and without fresh legs it was a track meet.
  4. Coach Stoops comments on the upcoming game against our beloved Mean Green... http://www.soonersports.com/sports/..&.../082807aaj.html
  5. Each year it would be great to play: TCU SMU Baylor Rice Houston And have extended contracts on 'BCS' games against Texas, Texas A&M, and/or Oklahoma where we could play them at their place and in our new stadium!
  6. T...E...X...A...S...!!!
  7. Those are terrible!
  8. Coach Dodge was quoted as saying, "If we had the full time to recruit a QB in our first class, Vizza would be our guy no matter what. He fits our system very well, and is exactly who we need to run our offense." Sure there are probably more talented QB prospects out there, however, NT is in a unique situation where they have to recruit "System QB's" over the top prospects at the position. Dodge did ink the Texas 4A Player of the Year, and has the reigning Texas 5A Player of the Year committed for next year and both are Quarterbacks.
  9. You have no idea what you are talking about if you think the UNT Softball stadium is high schoolish, and definitely have not seen what else is out there. Why would they do an Under Armour commercial there during its 1st year in existence? Do you think Under Armour's marketing committee says, "We want to shoot this commercial at this piece of crap high schoolish softball stadium in Denton where North Texas plays its home games"? Heck no they don't. What other stadium does North Texas have where they have hosted OU in a game? The case with most college facilities is that they start somewhere, and continually improve that particular facility until it turns into something special. Especially with a new program. Look at our softball stadium. It's a very nice and functional facility to start a program in. Not to mention, the players have an indoor hitting facility, locker rooms, and academic center on the same piece of property. Add a brick facade and permanent restrooms/concessions to Lovelace Stadium (which are in the plans), and what do you have? Oh just a facility similar to LSU, or Texas. Don't cry and moan over the softball stadium. That's definitely one of least things you should worry about. As far as the baseball program, you definitely want to do it right the first time. Are you going to have golden sinks and faucets in the bathrooms with Eagles etched into them...no. Are you going to have a functional facility that benefits athletes and coaches, and gives your fans a nice place to watch a game....yes, and quite frankly, that's all you can ask for when beginning a program.
  10. Can't really say much at this point, but there is definitely a lot of work going on to get a program at this very moment. There's so much more to it than people think, but I firmly believe we will commence a baseball program soon.
  11. Baseball requires 11.7 scholarships...and NCAA Division 1 baseball is the 4th best sport for overall attendance. Please hold on for a few months...I believe we will see a first class baseball program here before everyone thinks.
  12. Baseball requires 11.7 scholarships
  13. ...believe that I recall a certain #5 for USC a few years back jumping/flipping over defenders and into the endzone several times......so you could definitely see something like that in a college or pro game.
  14. Definitely like the new coaching hats. They have a sharp look to them. However, they would look really good with Under Armour logos on the side or back of them.....
  15. Was impressed with the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd. Announced crowd of 5,194 which was a good turnout. Had several Carroll players down in the endzone including Riley, Chris Brainerd, Blake Cantu. Saw Jordan Scoggins, a UNT signee at Defensive Tackle, and Euless Trinity's Team MVP, standing down on the sidelines. Scrimmage was run very smoothly. Hardly any problems with guys knowing where to go, when they went on and off the field, etc. Very organized. Offense started slow. Dodge tried to get tempo going out of the gate with a bubble screen that was significantly underthrown. The play was there for a nice gain if the ball had been delivered from Meager. It was evident that he was trying to establish rhythm and consistency in his play calling, however it took a while to get going. Once that got going, I felt very positive about the play of the offense. Still very rusty and unsure, but there were certainly more bright spots than low points. Defense flew to the ball early on, and seemed to tire out towards the end, as there were some long plays, and they were trying to complete several deep balls. There was some good collisions out there. Kicking game looked very good. Was consistent all day. Punting game also looked good, until he had to punt into a 30 mph wind! All in all, thought it was a very successful day. Great turnout, energy in the stands, and a good product on the field. Can't ask for much else. I'll say we'll go about 7-4ish next year. Really feel like after the midpoint of the season, we will be tough to beat!
  16. Texas upheld their scholarship offer to Matt Nadar, offensive lineman from Austin Westlake, who had a heart problem in their game against A & M Consolidated that would prevent him from ever playing again.
  17. It's neat to see that there will be people traveling from all over the region to come see this event! We can't expect them to set the world on fire...yet...now come October....
  18. Yes, there's an Athletic Advisory Board, who works with the whole athletic department on several issues. I believe the board falls under "development" in the athletic department.
  19. SMU, must win, for recruiting purposes. Hopefully OU and Arkansas will be respectable. Navy could be a toss up since it occurs later in the year, and the team should have it figured out pretty well by then.
  20. It's still very early. I don't know if we need to worry about OU. We know they will be bigger and stronger than us, and can expect that to impact the outcome of the game. I know we want it to be respectable, which I believe it will be, however, there will still be early season miscues in that game. Give the O-Line about 3-4 games to figure it out, and they should be pretty salty when it really starts counting in SBC play. In watching Carroll under Coach Dodge, I felt like the 2 main strengths of their teams were their Defense, and the Offensive Line. Their line was undersized a lot of the time, and they got the job done. The players understood the system and simply executed. The Mean Green O-Line will most likely be somewhat rusty to start the year off in Norman, however over time, they will execute very well.
  21. There will be several letterman/ex coaches in attendance on Sunday! Everyone is very excited to see what the guys look like. Knowing that a ton of changes are taking place, we can't expect them to set the world on fire; however, it will be fun to see the changes in discipline, penalties, toughness, etc. that Dodge and his staff have instilled in this current team. Not to mention, it's always fun to armchair Quarterback, and in this case, to see where some of the new recruits could fill in during the fall.
  22. Nice pictures! Good work!
  23. Landscaping would definitely help the campus' image to those hundreds of thousands of travelers who drive by on 35 each day. I know on the athletics side that since RV showed up, there have been several facelifts/new facilities popping up and all are appealing to the eye. The new football stadium and a new baseball complex would definitely help this. No doubt Fouts is an eyesore, but how nice is it to think that in a short time, the Athletic Center will sit in the South Endzone of a new multimillion dollar football stadium!!! and hopefully have a beautiful baseball facility across Bonnie Brae!
