Guys, We realize now how many people are 100% supportive of Coach Dodge and the way he runs this program. Let's visibly show him a ton of support at 6:30 on Monday night at Sweetwater! He needs it, and it will mean a ton to him! Plus it's always fun to hear the 'Dodgisms'! You know, to run such a modern offense, he's an old-school, fundamentals guy...gotta love that!

Unt's Dodge Denies Allegations Of Racism

KBJ, KBJ, KBJ...Always bitter, huh?!? -
haha, yes our offense did score 4 for them...kind of like making a basket on the wrong goal! OOPS! Maybe we should have blocked their flyers on punt so the ball would roll into the end zone instead of having the ball at the 6 inch line!

Lawton, Ok Is More Than Okay
UNT Mean Green replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Absolutely, blue collar is ok! Many of the best athletes come from those areas. -
Rick, Did Santaigo play under Dickey and Co? I think he certainly has some ability, and saw the same impressive display of talent on Jamario's run as you did.

It could mean that the Defense played very well considering the following: 1) Offensive turnovers put our defense in some field position holes. 2) We held MTSU to several 3 and outs. 3) Our defense was on the field for a long time with their backs against the wall and still played well. 4) Of those 48 points, 17 can be attributed to Special Teams miscues.

Lawton, Ok Is More Than Okay

Amen to that...Lawton does produce some great football talent! Sounds like some of those kids have an attitude to go along with their talent (ahem...DG...ahem) -
Agreed, Eulessismore! We need to sign the majority of those Trojan players! We got their Team MVP from last year in Scoggins, and arguably their best athlete in King. Wish we could have gotten Yenga, as he is doing great over at that school in Dallas who just fired their coach. I want us to get Samir Baker to be a return specialist! Not to mention, the Trojans defense is really good this year, and I'd like to see a few of those guys end up in Denton!

In knowing Coach Dodge, Coach Ford, Coach George, and Coach Gandy all well, I'll say this: They all have the same viewpoint on the 'team' mentality, and if a player is doing something to jeopardize team chemistry or is bumping his chest to draw attention to himself, these guys will be the first to chastise that player and let him know he is wrong. This group of coaches is a group of fair men, and for Coach George to get onto Dominique like that, there is plenty more to this story. Dominique obviously has some personal issues with this team/staff and theres definitely a reason why players and coaches alike are 'going after him'. Also, for a player to take something this minor to the NAACP, shows that DG has major issues!

Actually, the Minnesota Golden Gophers have the worst defense in the country. -

I thought the following: Oklahoma-loss SMU-win FAU-win Arkansas-loss Lafayette-win Monroe-win Troy-loss MTSU-loss Navy-loss Ark State-loss WKU-win FIU-win 6-6. Are we going to get there...nope. I'll say though, we should have beaten SMU and FAU, and definitely had a chance to beat Lafayette! And I am excited about the fact that we should have beaten those 3 teams. I think that's a good sign in of itself. -

Nothing against Jamario, but I believe there are a few players on the team other than Jamario that deserve the title 'best player on this team.'

Navy is a very good football team! Don't be mis-lead by a loss to the Blue Hens. Delaware is pretty darn good every year! Navy will come in here and give us all we want!

Geez...what are we all going to do on Monday night?!? I guess head home to the wife and do whatever she says! Damnit!

I agree the hamstring thing has hampered him in terms of speed. However, I think it is more inital speed than breakaway speed. He showed the other night that once he gets going, he's tough to catch. J-Mo is a guy who was recruited to run downhill from 7 yards deep and hit the hole running...and he was very good at it. It definitely makes him look different standing back there and getting a handoff without a head of steam. He's not the ideal spread back, but still flashed some ability the other night! That run was impressive. It's funny because his strides are so short. He's got some 'RPM's' going with those legs when he finally gets to full speed!
-
Navy is going to fire plenty of torpedos at us during that game! I'm worried about that. The Midshipmen are pretty stinkin' good!

D-End's covering receivers/backs out is either a Zone Blitz, or his assignment may have been if he saw a back out to his side, he covered him to let the LB's stay near the box to account for a running QB.

Trust me, as long as Tom Hicks owns the Rangers, they won't be anything. Baseball America just currently ranked them as having the 22nd most talented organization (even after the trade deadline) and being the 27th best overall organization in baseball. NOT GOOD! They just released the guy that SHOULD have been the manager, Don Wakamatsu. The guy that is the manager, should be the infield coach (though he's a great guy, Wash is a bad manager). One of the best pitching guys in baseball is available to at least help Mark Conner, yet he is coaching at Liberty Christian High School in Argyle...I am speaking of John Wetteland. Jon Daniels has a bunch of computer guru's in the front office instead of baseball people. We need to do what the Cincinnati Reds are doing, and that is start over! New owner, new GM, etc. Look at the Reds. They started over in February of 2006. They inherited the 30th ranked organization in terms of talent, and had the 29th ranked organization in baseball. 1 1/2 years later, they have the 12 ranked talent organization, and the 17th ranked overall organization....not bad! Texas needs to do something...but the problem is that it starts at the top, and I don't think Tom Hicks will fire himself!

A-rod Leaves Yankees
UNT Mean Green replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Alex would definitely hurt the chemistry of the Boston clubhouse. And quite honestly, Theo doesn't make moves that screw up that chemistry. They've got the best team chemistry in baseball, and it transfers (like it or not) to winning. 2 Titles in 4 years. Are the Red Sox in the 21st century going to be ldominant ike the Yankees were during the 20th century?!? -
Haha, nice job Greenjacket.

Anyone going tonight? Always funny to hear Dodge talk about those dang fireworks!

Where do ya'll think the majority of our penalties are coming from? I saw a couple of unusual personal fouls the other night against us...kind of weird. However, it was obvious that the MUTS guys were running their mouths pretty good. I think we've had several false starts this year due to the fact of calling plays at the LOS. We had a couple of questionable pass interference calls against the Blue Raiders, but it doesn't seem like we've had a ton of those. I think on Special Teams (which does SIGNIFICANTLY need to improve) we've had an abundance of dumb penalties. One the blatantly stands out in my head is the 12 men on the field against Arkansas after holding them 3 and out on their first offensive possession. STUPID! I am definitely on board with the fact that our special teams needs to greatly improve. You know what's funny too...if the SLC Special Teams didn't make a great play against Euless Trinity last year on their attempted fake punt, they are sitting at home watching Trinity win a state title. Our ST's are not to the point of being able to change games or even seasons yet. We definitely have some issues on BOTH sides of our punt teams that need to be fixed. We HAVE to recruit a kicker with a bigger leg who can get kickoffs to come down inside the 10 instead of at the 20-25 yard line and give the other team great field position. I know a lot of coaches hate to do this, but, Coach Drake may consider (here I am armchair Quarterbacking!) putting some more of the "1's" on the Punt and Punt Return teams instead of having a separate punt team and return team. Just a thought. I agree UNT Bowler, that you can't overlook the glaring mistakes, but at the same time I don't think you can expect us to be lighting it up this year either for a number of reasons.
