  1. Check out their endowment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_University It is more than double any other SBC school and any State supported CUSA school. It is bigger than 5 SEC schools and just a few million shy of LSU.It is bigger than 4 Big 12 Schools and just a few million shy of Colorado. Imagine what UNT could do with that size of an endowment.
  2. I think that it would more likely be a North: BYU, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado State, and AFA. South: SDSU, UNLV, TCU, UNM, UNT. The first 5 schools formed the MWC and are likely to stick together in a division. You could add Fresno State to the North and UTEP to the South and play a championship game in the Sun Bowl.

  4. I just checked your source and it is for a more recent year. You fail to point out that UNT had a net excess revenue of $1.2 million, whereas WKU and MUTS revenues equal expenses.
  5. http://www2.indystar.com/NCAA_financial_reports/ My source has WKU at 14,700,000. It is "the most detailed, publicly available database of college athletic department financial information ever assembled." It cannot verify your MTSU figures.
  6. Fear this mascot. http://www.collegehumor.com/picture:1715679/
  7. Michael was one of the few basketball players listed on the AD academic honor roll as I recall. That being said, I think it will benefit him personaly to transfer to a private religous school that far from home where he should be able to start.
  8. I would like to see the new stadium be built and Fouts surface and track turned into an indoor facility.
  9. I am not sure I would put the Poets on the list. Remember that the "Pen is mightier than the Sword." If one of those Poets composed a biting limerick that included any or all of the following- North Texas State, Commuter School, Albino Squirrel alternate mascot, criticism of Hayden Fry, praise of Darrell Dickey, praise of the great sightlines at Fouts, etc.- some posters on this board would stroke out (no pun intended).
  10. As a general rule I always vote against BCS schools in polls.

  12. Todd Dodge has already made a big difference.
  13. That is 1869-2006.
  14. We are number 3 in Texas behind UT and A$M.
  15. And if you throw a newspaper through the rim from half court you should win $100.
  16. Painting the Albino Squirrel green would be an act of compassion in that it would blend with the environment and thus not be spotted as easily by predators.
  17. The Albino Squirrel Preservation Society is seeking a name for the new one on campus. Perhaps Hawk Bait would be a good moniker.
  18. A statement that compares travel budgets from two different schools is irrelevant and does not rebut the assertion. However, having located the budget amounts, you are correct. The majority of expenses are Salaries and Student Aid. The amount you list is the team travel expense. Their recruiting expenses are more than twice as high as ours and I again believe that a large amount of that budget is travel. I do find it interesting that our contributions were 2.6 million and theirs were 2.9 million given that they are the only Division 1 school in the State of Hawaii. http://www2.indystar.com/NCAA_financial_reports/
  19. I am sure that the lions share of their budget is travel.

  21. The commissioner that preceded Wright Waters got Denver voted in. He had a plan to move toward a Metro type conference with teams in large cities. The Sun Belt (not Sunbelt) Conference was still primarily a basketball conference at the time. Clearly the Sun Belt has moved in a differnt direction since their admission (i.e. the addition of football).
  22. Michigan was 5500. I wonder what CMU did to promote their game.
