  1. I was thinking more along the lines of Luther Heggs.
  2. I was in the Walmart in Corinth today and in a prominent aisle in the middle of the store there was a 40+ foot long display consisting exclusively of OU junk. It practically jumps out at you. I did not look for NT items, I had the list to follow from my wife, but saw no display of items from any other University with the exception of a few UT items. It really offends me that a store less than 10 miles from UNT would have a display that large for an out of state school 200 miles away. The economic impact of UNT students and staff extends well beyond the city limits of Denton and certainly includes Corinth. I did not have time to fnd the manager and give him my opinion, although I shop there regularly I won't be going back.
  3. That would be my choice. Pohl has the recreation center named after him.
  4. Eric Russell update http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/russell_eric00.html
  5. If we get a home game with OU, I think we should play them anywhere they are willing, up to and including a Safeway parking lot.
  6. I have been told that 14 suites have been sold, which translates to at least $1.4 million in hand. Club seat sales are going reasonably well, and seats between the 35 yard lines require a $5000 a year contribution (for 2 seats) to the fund per year for 5 years. My conservative educated guess would be that so far we should have at least $250,000 in hand for Club Seats. Yes, we have a long way to go but that is not a bad start for a stadium that is 11 months from completion.
  7. I have a BBA from NT and a JD from Tech. When people ask me where I went to school, and I respond, they always say "So you are a Tech fan", and I always respond that I could care less about Tech sports and I am a Mean Green club member and season ticket holder of FB and BB at NT. What pisses me off is that many of these people have degrees from NT. If it is any consolation, I know two local lawyers who are Texas State and Texas A&M grads and both have already bought club seats for the new stadium.
  8. Perhaps not as remote as you think.
  9. I like the 1938 uniforms.
  10. This will also be the next game after our victory over KSU in football. Perhaps we could work some football team recognition in as well as our formal bowl invite if it doesn't come right after the football game.
  11. Shiner Black Shiner Bock Pyramid Hefeweitzen and since someone else has admitted it, I to like Bud Light with lime and occasionaly MGD.
  12. As mentioned earlier, Troy isn't going anywhere. I think that that the schools that are most attractive in the eastern part of the SBC are MUTS, WKU, and USA.
  13. Do you still have your radio show about beer? Are you still judging the Texas State Fair Home Brew contest?
  14. My List 1. Joe Green 2. Brian Waters 3. Abner Haynes 4. Cedric Hardman http://www.cedrickhardman.com/ 5. Ray Renfro 6. Carl "Spider" Lockhart 7. Ron Shanklin 8. Beasley Reese 9. Toby Gowin 10. Erric Pegram

  16. Maybe. Can you start a more interesting thread?
  17. The WAC had the chance to add NT,ULL, and ASU alltogether last time and would not do it. They only wanted one more team and reluctuncly settled for Idaho. A decision on the WAC should consider the financial situation of WAC schools (ex.SJSU and FSU), the possibility of Hawaii going indie, etc. As far as WAC expansion, consider that they are more likely to add western schools (ex. Montana, Portland State, etc) for budgetary reasons. With the Louisiana budget crisis I think that it is far more likely that La Tech will leave the WAC than it is that other schools will accomodate them. Nonetheless, if I ran the WAC I would try to add UNT, ASU, ULL, and TSU (a more compact grouping with LT and NMSU), add a Championship game between division winners at the home of the team with the best record and would break a tie with home average attendance numbers, and try to negotiate the best TV contract that I could.

  19. Perhaps we will get Gene Stallings as a consultant!
  20. 1. No 2.Yes
  21. The term "Cougar High" came from the fact that UH was started by the HISD as a JC in the twenties and first held classes at a local high school, became a 4 year institution in the 30's and wasn't seperated from the HISD until 1945. I believe that Houston High School graduates who went to other Universities nicknamed it "Cougar High". Every Aggie I know always refers to it as that, although I can't say that about graduates of other Universities. I have never used the term because I am afraid that people would think I am an A$M grad.
  22. I like. Known opponent. Winnable game. We should be able to fill up our own stadium. Great choice.
  23. No. Reality trumps percepton everytime. Reality in this case is in part that the SBC is less costly, better for student athletes, and in better time zones for media coverage.
