  1. None. My wife and I both have graduate degrees from TT so I suppose it should be Tech but it ain't. I root for teams in specific games and tend to pull for teams from Texas (except SMU) but have no second choice.
  2. Here is the man you are looking for. Native Texan, outstanding overall record, former Hayden Fry assistant, and has proven he can beat big time programs. http://www.goasu.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=104462&SPID=12811&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=21500&ATCLID=1548734&Q_SEASON=2010
  3. Kudos to Cynthia Izaguirre of Channel 8 News for wearing her green with a prominant UNT pin this morning.
  4. If SMU receives an invitation to the MWC and accepts then you will know that TCU is leaving for another conference.
  5. I think Waters has publicly stated that the SBC will no longer admit FCS teams unless they are already in the conference (i.e. USA,etc.)
  6. I spoke with a friend this evening who attended his first Mean Green football game on Saturday (he has lived in Denton since the late 90's). His wife (not much of a sports fan) recently took a job at NT and she suggested that they get season tickets available for the staff. He is a lifelong Husker fan and his family has owned 50 yardline seats in Lincoln since 1952. He has seen some great football games. I asked about his experience. He told me how difficult it was to find a place to park, he told me about a guy behind him in Section C who was yelling at the coaches saying they lost the game, he told me a guy on the sideline (later Identified as the AD) was looking in the stands trying to locate the guy and staring him down, he told me how awful special teams were and how the guy yelling made a good point. I then asked "So overall what did you think?". He said "I enjoyed it. We went in this week, upgraded our tickets, joined the Mean Green Club and now I have a parking pass. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season." He has a Husker golf bag, is almost never seen without his Husker red shirts, but on game day in Denton Texas he now wears Green.
  7. Let me clarify something, my friend (a two degree SMU grad and letterman who attends all home games and some away) was referring to the perception you get when you approach the exterior of the stadium on the press box side and not the aesthetics. In other words from the shell that we have built so far on the press box side our facility looks more imposing. I noticed this a few weeks ago while driving down Mockingbird in University Park.
  8. In an earlier post TodgeRodge stated that Ford Stadium was nice or nicer than our new digs (no pun intended). This morning I spoke with a friend who is an SMU Letterman. I asked about the attendance at SMU on Saturday and he expressed disappointment. Before I could ask about our new stadium he said "I have been watching y'alls stadium go up and even though the capacity is about the same as ours, unlike Ford it looks big time". He compared it to Vanderbilt which he described as having the look of a bigger stadium even though it had a smaller capacity (approx. 39000). So, TodgeRodge, if perhaps you thought that we were on an island getting intoxicated with mean green kool-aid, I offer you an objective opinion.
  9. Tie between Bob Tyler and Jerry Moore. Back to Back.
  10. The 28000 is from August 2009 and not from June 30,2010 as you try to imply from your limited ability to interpret a google search. The fact that winning increases attendance (as proven by SMU's numbers against UAB) isn't really arguable.
  11. I never said "because something is new" that "it is the nicest around". I said that I believe that it will be as nice or nicer than Ford in my opinion (yes I have been to Ford). As far as capacity, although the total seating capacity (i.e. specific number) will only be known at or near completion, I have been told by individuals in the athletic department that it will be between 32K and 34K with space for more fans on the grass in the South Endzone. I will take their word over yours.
  12. Wrong on both statements.
  13. So did I. I also believe we will win at least 7 games. The only time I ever considered giving up on a season was during a long bus ride back from ULM in 2001, and the next week we turned everything around. I always expect to win and don't want to miss out when it begins.
  14. Mark Davis also has a lot of political connections in the State. For years he has been the host for the Denton County Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, he is always the host for Senator Jane Nelsons biggest fund raiser (her annual 40th Birthday Party) and I have seen him host many other big political functions. He is a high profile Talk Show Host and his connection can only help.

  17. The pollsters, prognosticators, armchair QB's, etc. suggest we are DOA. FEAR NOT, we shall prevail. I predict VICTORY.
  18. He says Briles played at Houston but his alma mater is Tech, and yet fails to point out that Gill played at Nebraska but his alma mater is North Texas.
  19. I believe that was the Denton Chamber of Commerce mixer.
  20. Because in order to come up with $5 million they would have to take out a loan on the football stadium, sell band candy, have bake sales (probably in Shreveport and Monroe since Ruston is to small for a bake sale), and have their Women perform unprintable acts, etc.

  22. Looks like the family could have afforded a private school, that would have been the end of the story. The hype leading up to the story exceeded its value.
  23. He always spoke to me and always remembered my name when I saw him. He will definitely be missed.
  24. I think this rule would apply. NCAA Article 11: Conduct and Employment of Athletics Personnel: 11.7.2 Football Bowl Subdivision - There shall be a limit of one head coach, nine assistant coaches and two graduate assistant coaches who may be employed by an institution in bowl subdivision football. 11.7.2.1 Exceptions to Number Limits FBS - No individual other than coaches designated to fill the coaching categories set forth in Bylaw 11.7.2 may participate in any manner in the coaching of the intercollegiate team of a member institution during any football game, practice or other organized activity, with the following exceptions: 11.7.2.1.1 Weight or Strength Coach FBS - A weight (strength and conditioning) coach may conduct flexibility, warm-up and physical conditioning activities prior to any game and prior to or during any practice or other organized activities without being included in the limitations on number of coaches. 11.7.2.1.2 Undergraduate Coach FBS - The limits on the number of coaches in this section do not apply to undergraduate coaches.
