Regarding conference membership, I don't see the WAC as an "opportunity". We turned them down before and certainly should again. I would love to be TCU's travel partner for the MWC and have AFA come here every other year.

We were the second choice behind UTEP for CUSA last time as I posted on the Mean Green Athletics site previously. I attached NT80's response to my post. SMU is not the stumbling block.

They are also the students that are least likely to support UNT in the future. In their world it is all about them.

According to Top Coog on the NCAA BBS Forum we were 1st runner up last time. "Tallgrass and the guys on the cusa board will tell you the same thing. Banowsky brought in a consultant and LT began to slip over a facilities issue. UTEP draws substantial crowds and owns the Sun Bowl, not to mention that it has a good size market. Before it was over LTU actually slipped to third place behind UTEP and UNT."

East Central is in Ada, OK probably not more than 100 miles from Denton near I-35. Richard Rafes, former UNT VP was named their President about a year ago.

SMU had Don Meredith and Roger Staubach at the coin flip for their game against Navy. Since it is Veterans Day weekend perhaps another branch of the armed forces would be willing to salute another with a flyover.

How would you compare Justin Howerton to Justin Barnett? JB was redshirted and played a lot more his first two seasons, but I think Howerton if he continues to improve can be better.

I think Hillary will run a play right out of the Denton High School Playbook called the Time Warp. It is just a jump to the Left (to secure her base), Then a step to the Right (To prove she is no left wing radical), She will put her hands on her Hip (to show she is tough), Then bring her knees in tight (to prove she is no Bill), Then a pelvic thrust (to divert attention from her real agenda). Then she will do it all over again.

Did anyone else notice that Jean-Jacques Taylor of the DMN referred to CUSA as a "bad conference" today in his aricle on the front page of the sports section. If they are making changes I would recommend that they move the Courtyard Couch to the floor by the student section. It would be a greater reward for the winners and would be more aesthetically pleasing.

Notice that he played 26 minutes against Tech and 17 minutes against Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament this year.

I played Golf at Tour 18 today and one of the employees noted my NT cap. He said they had some folks from NT play earlier in the day. He said that they were affiliated with the University and he asked when we would get a new staduim. He stated that one of the persons identified himself as the guy in charge of getting it built and that person said it would be ready in 2009. I asked if the guy was Rick Villareal and he said he didn't recall the guys name.

I don't believe he ever started or saw much playing time.

I saw it. It was one of the best stories done on UNT sports I have ever seen. I was going to try to link it from their website, but it appears that it is unavailable.

Channel 5 was also there and spoke with Dodge and also played film clips from practice.

They do own Mrs. Bairds bread and Vernon Baird is a UNT Alum. So there is a connection. Imagine "Welcome to Bimbo Stadium in Denton Texas." It has a unique ring to it.

According to a post on the Sun Belt message board the CBS Evening News will have a story on Rich Young and his military service.

MUTS beat a team that has already made the tournament (Belmont). They are a good basketball team, but if we play to our potential we will win. I hope that KD finds his shot tommorow night.

He looked physically like he belonged on the Jr. High B team. He is only a freshman and scored 16 points and grabbed two rebounds in the last two minutes right under the basket.

Everyone has different tastes. Siam at Carriage Square if you like Thai food. Green House on North Locust. Hannah's just south of the square. Three Finns just off of I35 and the Loop for seafood. Frilly's on Denison just north of University for Cajun. Chinatown Cafe on West University is popular for Chinese Buffet. Sweet Basil is also popular for Thai and is located at Denton Crossing. Burgundy's ($$$) for Steaks is just west of the square on Hickory. Bari's is near campus on Oak for Italian.
