  1. It looks like Dodge will look under every rock to find players who can help this program. Neither Kaiser nor Roman had UNT on their radar 6 months ago.
  2. Phillips should transfer to a 1AA. I think it would be in his best interest. He is good enough to start for many 1AA's and his talent would be wasted on the bench.
  3. In addition to Leonard Dunlap, I meant to include Beasley Reece who played in the NFL for 9 seasons, and Carl "Spider" Lockhart who played 11 seasons in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl twice.
  4. How about our only DB ever drafted in the first round? http://www.profootballhof.com/history/general/draft/1971.jsp
  5. I only saw Shanklin play in the NFL, but there is no question he should be at the top. I watched J.T. Smith play at NT and as an undrafted free agent he went on to play in the NFL for 12 seasons and made 2 Pro Bowls. Johnny Quinn, Marcus Camper, and Troy Redwine round out my top five.
  6. This mornings DRC said he "had scholarship offers from Hawaii and South Dakota State". The Honolulu Advertiser says he turned down a walk on at UH.
  7. Turned down U of H. http://blogs.honoluluadvertiser.com/index.php?blog=9
  8. The Big West football teams, between 1996 and 2000, consisted of Boise State, Idaho, Nevada, Utah State, New Mexico State, Arkansas State, and North Texas.
  9. I have attended about 100 games over the years and became a season ticket holder with the move back to D1. Have attended all four New Orleans Bowls and games at UT, OU, A$M, Baylor, TCU, and Colorado. I also took the bus trip to the infamous ULM loss back in 2001.
  10. All in all a good interview and he spoke well of Dickey. I don't understand why they are running A$M and UT clips during part of the interview.
  11. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=220761
  12. I graduated from NT in 1980 so I fondly remember the Flying Worm. Nonetheless, I am strangely attracted to the 1972 helmet.
  13. A USA poster says the $270,000,000 is part of the USA Foundation which is not part of the official endowment. That must be the same for Troy. Perhaps it is part of a Troy Foundation. http://www.tribalgrounds.com/belt/forum_en...&order=time
  14. And South Alabama at over $200 million. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_South_Alabama
  15. Here is a link to that has Troy's over $500,000,000 endowment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_University
  16. Kendall Briles was 4A offensive player of the year two years and also first team all-state quarterback. He went to UT and played Safety for two years and then transferred to Houston to play for his father his last two years. Of course he also played some safety in high school. In many ways he and Riley are very similar. It will be interesting to see if Riley stays at UT all four years.
  17. Toga party at Greenjoe's house on Friday night before the Oklahoma game!
  18. I believe that UNT was in fact considered as the next option and Tech was a distant third. I am not asking you to change your opinion about the matter, I am simply telling you that your statement is incorrect.
  19. Your WAC 12 with UNT, ASU, ULL, La Tech, and NMSU in an eastern division would have been a good option for us.
  20. Fort Collins, Colorado.
  21. I think many fans see Major Applewhite as the heir apparant at UT. He is much more likely to take a coordinators job for Mack Brown. If Dodge wants to succeed Brown then he will need to prove himself as a head coach somewhere else and then seek the top job when it becomes available. That somewhere else is the University of North Texas, and I predict that his tenure will be much longer than the 3-4 years that many people on this board predict.
  22. Check out their endowment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_University It is more than double any other SBC school and any State supported CUSA school. It is bigger than 5 SEC schools and just a few million shy of LSU.It is bigger than 4 Big 12 Schools and just a few million shy of Colorado. Imagine what UNT could do with that size of an endowment.
  23. I think that it would more likely be a North: BYU, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado State, and AFA. South: SDSU, UNLV, TCU, UNM, UNT. The first 5 schools formed the MWC and are likely to stick together in a division. You could add Fresno State to the North and UTEP to the South and play a championship game in the Sun Bowl.

  25. I just checked your source and it is for a more recent year. You fail to point out that UNT had a net excess revenue of $1.2 million, whereas WKU and MUTS revenues equal expenses.
