Is the ASU finger sign really "The Shocker"...?? Now, that's some genius...

Alas, I tried that as well... No dice... Mini-helmets seem plentiful, but the full-size ones are harder to come across... I noticed that one of the vendors in the tailgate area on Saturday had some of the old white mini-helmets for sale... But, the price was very steep for last year's design...

... a full-size replica or game-used UNT helmet...?? I'm not picky about the year or design... I have already prayed to the god of Google and my prayer went unanswered... I was thinking someone local in Denton might know where one could be had... I'm redecorating my office and I'd love to have one as a centerpiece...

Last year Texas St. averaged 12,805 in a 16,000 seat stadium... Their student enrollment is 30,816...

I attended UNT from 1986-1991... During that time I went to pretty much every game I could unless I was out of town playing in pool tournaments... When my son got old enough to enjoy football and attend games we started going to games in 2007 beginning with the Navy game... We missed the WKU game in 2007 and starting in 2009 we have been season ticket holders... In 2009 we had to miss the WKU game because he was sick... So... Before last night I hadn't seen UNT win a football game in person since a 1991 game against Stephen F Austin... And my son had never seen them win in person... Ever... That makes last night's game all that much sweeter...

That being said, 24-14 would have been suffering aplenty... Some impressions from my first game at Apogee: The UNT defense came ready to hit tonight... There were some hits on Indiana receivers that are bound to show up in highlights of big hits from the weekend... I thought the atmosphere of the game was really quite good... The fans in 203 and 204 were really letting the Indiana fans in our sections hear it... And no one was complaining at all about fans standing during appropriate moments... Thompson's three overthrows on deep balls that would have been huge gains/touchdowns were incredibly frustrating... The pass interference call at the end was a total joke... Why weren't we expecting that first onside kick...?? Even my 10-yr old said, "Watch the fake." And yet not a single UNT player was anywhere near the ball when it came down... All in all this is a very satisfying win... And I tnink the squad learns more from hanging on to a big lead lead than the other way around... Young teams need to learn how to win games like this... In the past we would have lost this game... Tonight, and in the future, we win... I am pumped for the rest of the season because I don't see any reason why we can't be competetive against Tulsa and especially in conference play... Great win tonight... GO MEAN GREEN...!!

My 10-yr old and I are heading to Denton at 2:00pm... This is our first game with our season tickets as we had to miss the opener against Houston... We're planning to park at either Fouts or maybe on campus somewhere... A little 2 man tailgate, throw the football around some and then head across the bridge to the stadium... Come say hi if you are so inclined... Section 204 Row 25 Seats 15-16 I can't wait... GO MEAN GREEN...!!

I have more interest in this game than in any other this entire weekend... I think it's going to be a great game and at the end one of these teams is going to be 3-0 and primed for a big time season... I watched the entire FIU-Louisville game, and though I didn't think Louisville was really all that I was extremely impressed by how FIU was able to use it's team speed against a BCS team and hang on for a victory... While Boston College may not be that great either, UCF didn't "hang on" for a victory against them... They obliterated a favored BCS opponent holding them to 7 first downs and 141 yards of offense... I can't wait for FIU-UCF... I really think one of these teams has a chance to do something special this year...

There is absolutely no shame in having the score run up on you by Rice... Oh wait...

I could have sworn that back in the mid-80's and early 90's replays of the games were available on the campus tv station... I remember watching one against Eastern Washington at my apartment...

Thanks to Grant and all the others responsible for the great event... My son and I had a terrific time... And thanks to everyone who came over and gave us their bottle caps... Bennett was thrilled and was very hard to get to bed last night because he was "cataloguing"... Hope to make it to the Alabama party... Should be a good crowd...

I'll make a bet with anyone that WKU doesn't finish last in the SBC... I really think they are a team on the rise... They're playing their asses off against KU tonight...

Chancellor and Atterberry... I'll give a semi-pass to Dunbar and Thompson... They were absolutely overwhelmed... As I write this, Osborn is looking pretty good... Other than that, what a disaster... And the pessimist in me says that FIU might be the worst team we face in our first five... Houston and Tulsa are similar teams with more D-1 talent... Those could be long games... Still, it's going to be a fun season, and I am positive that they are going to get better each week under McCarney...

**SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD** Okay, first let me say that I know there is a Ticket Board on the Forum, but I wanted this to reach not only the largest amount of people, but also the right ones... So, here goes... I am a seaosn ticket holder... I have seats in Section 204 Row 25 Seats 15-16... And, as fate would have it, I am unable to attend the home opener against Houston... Therefore, I have 2 tickets that I want to sell... Why not sell them on Craigslist or StubHub or somewhere else...?? Well, frankly, I don't want to sell them to UH fans... I want to sell them to a Mean Green fan that either wants two more tickets or couldn't get good ones... I waited until today because I wanted to have the tickets in hand before I offered them for sale... My season ticket packet arrived in the mail this afternoon... I am positive I could get more for them (I was offered more twice today), but I am selling the pair for $80... The face price is $35 each and I am putting the extra $10 towards my parking for the Indiana game... I DO NOT have a parking pass... I want to see these tickets used by someone wearing green and going crazy for UNT... If you are interested please call me at 214-870-3364... I live in McKinney, work in Plano and I will be at the game watching party at Rudy's in Allen tomorrow night if any of those places work for delivery purposes... With this being the first game of the season, I will be very surprised if we don't at least cover the spread... I agree with an earlier poster that said that FIU isn't exactly Florida State... We shouldn't be that far behind in terms of talent, and our coaching has been significantly upgraded right...?? This is a huge trap game for FIU... Heavily favored at home against what amounts to a bit of an unknown quantity... The only thing that would truly surprise me is if we get blown out... But I think the days of SBC blowouts are behind us... I can't wait...

I am surprised at how often it comes up in a coach's first year with a new program that he is put in a position where he has to either dismiss or discipline a star/popular player from the previous regime... I am all for a new coach putting his foot down in disciplinary instances and taking the hard line... Hopefully Darius gets it together and starts new somewhere else...

The girl I talked with seemed to have no problem at all giving me seats on the aisle in 205... I am guessing that 205 still has a lot left... Don't know about 209, which I think would be in a different price point...

One other impression... Please, please, please when you make out a roster sheet for a spring game include the CLASSES of the players... I hate not knowing a player's class status during the spring game...

My daughter and I attended the game yesterday and got heavily sunburned (or at least I did)... There were four small things that left an impression with me... 1) I actually liked the white helmets with no stripe... I prefer green, but if they are going to remain white, lose the stripe... 2) The flea flicker touchdown that was called back was absolutely perfectly executed... It had 2 instances of flawless misdirection before the pass that you will ever see... A thing of beauty (if not for the penalty)... 3) The offensive line for the White team was really bad... I hope that is not a reflection of our OL depth... 4) Derek Thompson looked really good... He made some really nice throws like the one to Carey in the back of the end zone... I think he is poised for a big year... And now it is just a matter of waiting to see which seats I get in the new stadium and waiting for the season to START...!! Can't wait...
