  1. This whole thread kinda gave me the blues...then I thought about an old song by Delbert McClinton that seemed to fit...so here 'tis!
  2. Well, let's give credit where credit is due. I take back everything I thought about the athletic department...for tonight. But I'm keeping those links handy for future use.
  3. That kind of "vision" is easily corrected by taking the advice of this bright young woman: https://youtu.be/hPz95ge4z_E You might want to sing along: https://youtu.be/egZsHq0b1q8
  4. Don't want to overcook them...how many weenies were standing in line?
  5. Looks like he's at the Alumni Pavillion and cooking up some of those yummy brats! Yeah, it ain't Rudy's or Metzler's but it'll do.
  6. With brass bull balls hanging from the hitch!
  7. Speak for yourself! She left $100 on my dresser last night!! Of course, love is blind.
  8. Not being lazy...really! I think MG 93-98 has been reading my mind and just beat me to the punch. I couldn't say it better, so I won't try. If you are keeping score dmill, just take the above response, times 2.
  9. I did a quick check of Incarnate Word's site ( http://www.uiwcardinals.com/index.aspx?path=mbball ) to see what was there. Their OOC schedule last season was better than ours, with names like Purdue, Oklahoma, Cal-Berkeley, St. John's, LIU and Rice. They beat St. John's in NY in a game that Green hit for 24 points in 33 minutes; they also handled Rice, and he got 14 in 36 minutes. The others were losses and Green averaged 7.5 ppg in 23.5 mins against that competition. Overall, their team was 17 - 12. Green looks like a decent player to me if he can quickly mesh with the team and make whatever adjustments he needs to. Too bad his back is against the wall re: a one-and-done season.
  10. We are not far apart in our thinking. Yes, the supply curve is fixed...Pit and Apogee. To increase revenue you have to move the demand curve. If you increase ticket prices, you will have less demand (even fewer butts in seats) UNLESS you put winning teams and quality opponents on the court/field. In that event, the demand curve will move toward the supply curve and you could start to implement modest price increases as the best sections start selling out on a regular basis. Overall, you could then expect more revenue. The student fee is a different animal (not that I think the kids should suffer) because they all participate, like it or not. At least, they are entitled to attend all events for that fee. They should be getting Rudy's Barbecue for that fee but they're being slipped a shit sandwich.
  11. 1. Excess Supply If the price is set too high, excess supply will be created within the economy and there will be allocative inefficiency. At price P1 the quantity of goods that the producers wish to supply is indicated by Q2. At P1, however, the quantity that the consumers want to consume is at Q1, a quantity much less than Q2. Because Q2 is greater than Q1, too much is being produced and too little is being consumed. The suppliers are trying to produce more goods, which they hope to sell to increase profits, but those consuming the goods will find the product less attractive and purchase less because the price is too high. 12. Drowning, flailing away, in a desperate attempt to save himself...and his boss. This scenario is becoming more evident every day.
  13. VERY moving life story. Thanks for posting that, Deep.
  14. Has there been an update on Frazier's status since his bar brawl?
  15. That win motivated me to dig out my 1999 Stanley Cup shirt! I note that it is ready for replacement soon...how about 2016?
  16. Not the time to take on more passengers.
  17. Agree 100%. Also agree that more should have been done to accommodate his academic needs so that he didn't have to make the choice.
  18. This would be the infamous Bendenburg disaster! What makes this so horrendous is that, like the gory scenes in a Sam Peckinpah movie, it goes on and on in slow motion. This disaster started four years ago and still clings to the RV mooring mast with about a year to go before it hits the ground. Worse, to preserve some hope for survival, bystanders have been asked to just "bend over" until the inevitable crash to the ground.
  19. Dr. Phil would probably say you have a subconscious fear that the UNT athletic program is taking on prodigious amounts of water and it may sink...this manifests itself in conscious thoughts and interest in the RMS Titanic. CAUTION: This could lead to an obsession with the RMS Republic and ruin your life.
  20. So, is all that talent going to organize and coach itself? Benford ain't the one to get it done. Seeing me at a game sometime will be when Benford is no longer coaching at UNT.
