  1. I feel your pain. We are all sensitive to the way our athletes seem to be ignored...I hope Jamal performs and opens their eyes. As to the negativity in the press, the truth hurts. IMO, Vito just tells it like it T-I-Is. It is now up to the current squad to start writing a different story.
  2. Yeah, I see that as a possibility. I doubt that he could supplant Wilson strictly as a running back. You never know, he might be happy if we worked him into another offensive skill position while backing up Wilson. I never got a (real good time) I didn't ask for! Let Littrell and Harrell ask him what would keep him happy. With one season only to work with him, not many folks are going to offer him everything he wants, IMO.
  3. He was a red-shirt Jr. last season, per the article. He would be a one-and-done. Considering our needs, he could help us greatly for this coming season.
  4. Damn! The stars are aligned! This guy would help us immensely and I bet we could find enough reps to keep him happy.
  5. Meanwhile, back at the Athletic Center, another month...another check...life is good!
  6. Silver NAILED IT!
  7. Much needed win! The OT goal was a thing of beauty...from the camera angle the TV guys were using I could see that one coming all the way. Now on to Saturday and a home ice win to go ahead in the series. Stars can do it!!
  8. You can be our Moses Rose; I prefer to cross over Harry's line in the sand and stand with him and the others. Go ahead and dance to El Deguello if you wish, I prefer to fire the cannon.
  9. Just a thought. It would be interesting to see if the number of cases is correlated to the offensive scheme. What if increasing frequency in plays calling for pass blocking resulted in fewer head injuries? I know how much head and neck contact is experienced in a run-first, smash-mouth offense by the OL, DL and RBs.
  10. Well...that sucked. Suck it up, get back to the drawing board, and let's come out balls-on-fire on Thursday. We desperately need a split to even this thing up.
  11. Disclaimer: My only firsthand experience comes from playing HS ball over 50 years ago in a padded leather helmet; switched to plastic a season or so before I graduated. I played OG and some LB, and got my bell rung with regularity, but no concussions that I recall. I have a plethora of old dings (toe, knee, shoulder, neck, etc.) that bother me now but thank God CTE passed me by. I had uncles who lived into their 80s, both played HS ball and one played college ball, and neither developed any dementia. With that frame of reference, I will express some opinions, for what they may be worth. First, CTE is very concerning to me as a fan. I love the game but don't like to see young men get seriously injured (although a little nasty O-line action is OK). I am not fully aware of the latest improvements in helmet technology and whether that will ultimately stop the problem; perhaps the cases we hear about now have taken years to develop and the injuries occurred before the helmets started to improve. Second, I think it is more likely to have its roots in repetitive hits to the head than a few concussions. JMO. Think of Ali. Third, you can only do so much with protective technology so I suspect that any changes in the near term will come in the form of additional rules. Good luck with that! Fourth, there seems to me to be a lot of variables to sort through and research to be done. Are the positions the victims played random or are the cases concentrated around a few positions? Can we document what region of the head received the most damaging blows? On and on. There is a lot of work to be done here, and I'm sure there has been a lot of it underway for a couple of years.
  12. Most would urge that he go impregnate himself!
  13. A quick check (I'm an amateur at best) showed he committed to I,DaHo on December 20. I could see a scenario where he backs off that if they are going down, while the others that were sniffing around moved on. Pure speculation, no facts. I do like that our coaching staff is looking under all the rocks to try to bolster need positions ASAP.
  14. Agree with that. But somewhere along the line someone opened the door to let you demonstrate that you had the "right stuff"...and that is where the ice gets thin. Suppose the hiring manager is a Whorn or a Maggie looking at resumes. I know that I have given a longer look at UNT resumes when I had the chance to make a fresh hire.
  15. Harry's post was outstanding, but I get that you wanted him to be a bit more blunt.
  16. The Fearless Leader was there and prominently featured in the video.
  17. Harry, what a great post! You pretty well encapsulated my thinking as a veteran of the "Mean Green Wars" going back many seasons. Coach Littrell has "got next"; if he can get this team to perform and put up a few wins I too think he will see lots of fans in the seats. As an aside, I was struck by the fact that there was a pretty decent crowd at the Spring Game and that I did not see any fans I recognized. And they didn't all look like the "free stuff" crowd. I think Seth's support is ready to come forth with just a hint of better times...but they are all from Missouri!
  18. If he comes on board, this would be the perfect song to add to the pre-game audio:
  19. Sounds like the agent still smokes.
  20. RV will extend Benford if God lets him win at strip rock/paper/scissors!
