  1. Looks like Starr, the uber lawyer, is going to skate with a demotion/reassignment. I hope his new title becomes "Chancellor/Sexual Advisor", his office becomes the broom closet in the law school, and his job description is "When we want your f'n advice we'll send for you!".
  2. Good question! Has the response from the administration caused them to keep a low profile? Maybe when Starr's exit is official we'll hear more from them.
  3. Tell it like it is, Dale! A winning football program is vital...but not at ANY cost. See something / do nothing and look the other way won't cut it. If you were on here, Dale, I'd give you a +1, so Wag Tag got it.
  4. Their game the week after UNT is at Baylor. I imagine they could have a little fun with their "Beat ___" sign. Example: "Beat The Rap"
  5. Me too, but I took it to mean that their personnel didn't have the speed and/or size to execute it and they got burned now and then because of it. If so, that's OK by me. I'd rather get burned on my toes than on my heels.
  6. Landmark...rhymes with They are both a joke!
  7. I don't doubt that at all. Perhaps the new AD would appoint him Assistant AD for Community Relations and keep him in his broadcast gig. Let him develop a plan to improve community support, give him whatever support he needs, and judge him by the results.
  8. At the risk of causing some to foam at the mouth, there isn't a band better at tradition and pageantry than Notre Dame. They are awesome in person and I have many memories of seeing them in my childhood. Youtube shows that their current "look and feel" is the same as it was in the 1950s. Tradition binds generations of students/alumni together. The band always takes the field to "When Irish Backs Go Marching By" and morph into the "Notre Dame Victory March". Musicianship, however, always goes to the Green Brigade. For anyone who has never seen it, here is a link to an amateur video of the entrance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjDF6j4bi-E
  9. Agree. He looks great on paper. There is a good chance he has just gotten caught up in petty internal politics at ULM. I would urge Smatty to at least interview the man and see how he comes off.
  10. IMO, the opinions expressed regarding Hank are in no way personal. This AD needs to be a workout expert. That entails someone with big balls to come in and make often unpopular decisions and changes. This requires someone from out of town, unfettered by personal relationships, to objectively evaluate the situation and effect changes that will fix the problems. The fisherman can show no sympathy for the bait!
  11. I'm sorry, but I would like to see a hard-charging guy about 15 years younger than Steve or Mack. This job is not a morning in the office and an afternoon at the nineteenth hole. I want to see a midnight-oil guy who will dig into this department and fix it.
  12. Sincere advice: Since you live in Lewisville, go by Eagle Gun Range when you have a chance and check it out. They do sell those rental guns, but I don't know how frequently. They will be very gentle with you. Scope it out. Then take Rudy's advice too. You will ultimately find a well-maintained used weapon for a reasonable price. Check out this organization: http://www.dallasarms.com/ . One of my former colleagues is a Director. Their next show is June 11 & 12. Good luck.
  13. Shake it off, Big Guy! I jumped on that resume too...it touches all the right buttons. Apparently, the man behind the paper doesn't quite measure up. You wouldn't know until you did the due diligence.
  14. I agree 100%. This is no way for the head of Baylor to behave. http://giphy.com/gifs/cheezburger-fail-wrong-fnL6zdt6KtNy8 They need a new head person.
  15. Have they named a special prosecutor?
  16. Great list of accomplishments and the (IMO) proper academic background for a good AD. He has hands-on experience in all of the critical job requirements. Interview this man ASAP, Smatty!!
  17. I hope he is not getting an early start on Hillary's List! ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
  18. Here ya go. It was just overlooked.
  19. "To those who have criticized my job performance during my lengthy tenure, I say this...PULL MY FINGER!"
  20. I did it online. Good paper trail if they manage to screw it up is a plus.
  21. True. I admit there is such a thing as "too big".
  22. The Glock 19 is about all I can comfortably carry concealed at my 5'8", 180 lbs. The Glock 26 is too damned small for my hand...these are the kind of things you find out by renting and shooting guns you think you might like. Regarding ammo, even a 9mm round will get a little "snappy" in a smaller weapon. I shoot nothing heavier than 124 gr JHP.
