  1. Something is not right here. He has labored in that department for twenty-three years in the shadows of two ADs. He is definitely a "settler", not the epitome of ambition. Don't get me wrong, there is a place for loyal foot-soldiers in most organizations. As I stated a while back in another post, I would like to see Hank continue in his broadcast and teaching gig, with his other activities subject to review and evaluation by a new, energetic AD from outside. I would expect Hank to develop a strategy and plan for his proposed community / fundraising duties with mutually-agreed objectives. His progress toward those objectives would be evaluated regularly. Step up or step away. As the new AD I could see myself valuing his continuity to help me understand the situation, yet I would always wonder about his loyalty to me. JMHO.
  2. Nah...he's just salivating excessively while daydreaming about lighting up CUSA secondaries.
  3. Lower than a whale turd at the bottom of the Marianas Trench would come close to describing it. My obit was drafted and waiting but was saved from publication by the timely announced departure of The Hattiesburg Hustler.
  4. Navy was awesome! The service academies always bring a crowd and the patriotic displays that go with it; being a vet myself, I enjoy that. That is why I am a big proponent of scheduling the service academies whenever we can. The last Army game here was messed up by a low ceiling so I am looking forward to the resumption of that series. If we could ever work Air Force into the equation some years hence that would be terrific also. They would all three hand us our asses on a platter today but I think things will get better in the next couple of seasons.
  5. Unfortunately, I was an eyewitness to that disaster. I still have flashbacks!
  6. Not just an arm (what's his name had one too) but the touch to go with it. I could see this guy getting some playing time if he adapts to new receivers quickly.
  7. I guess the conventional wisdom is to recruit high school players and develop talent, slowly building a formidable team. I like the way this coaching staff seems to have a "win now" attitude by loading up with JUCOs who seem to have the ability to play now. I suspect they will recruit fewer in the next year. Their attitude reminds me of this:
  8. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/423913/highlights/304476376 He could make a push for playing time. Throws a nice ball.
  9. Saw this thread I've read before and my light came on. Question: Can anyone set up a countdown clock that zeroes out on June 20? I would do it but I don't have the expertise.
  10. My first boss out of college had many folksy sayings. I can hear him now when even a tiny, tiny error or typo was made..."Can you be just a little bit pregnant? Either it is correct or not."
  11. This can be smoothed over...but it will require TWO Shiners ...in cans!
  12. Not only did they put up the erroneous information on Meangreensports...I just received an email with the exact same faulty crap.
  13. AGAIN! The AD keeps shooting itself in the foot! http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/060316aaa.html NOTE: One hour after my original post, I see they have now corrected the page. I printed off the original version and have the email to prove it happened, as below: " Littrell and the Mean Green wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 26 in El Paso against UTEP, whom North Texas defeated in 2015 at Apogee Stadium in Denton, 30-23 for the team's lone victory. "
  14. Having left the upper midwest for Texas over 50 years ago, I know why I did...I suspect that those passing on Nebraska consider the same. The phrase "cold enough to freeze the balls off (or on) a brass monkey" is a colloquial expression used by some English speakers. The reference to the testes (as the term balls is commonly understood to mean) of the brass monkey appears to be a 20th-century variant on the expression, prefigured by a range of references to other body parts, especially the nose and tail.
  15. I have been a life-long financial dude but I enjoyed (and enjoy) my history. Having said that, I will admit that the date should have popped right up to me instinctively. In my defense, I was born and raised as a Hoosier...but I got here as quick as I could and assimilated.
  16. Now if only the Green Brigade will add the song to their repertoire! It would be cool to hear them blast a few bars of the song after he sacks some QB on a critical third-down play.
  17. Another piece of the puzzle! Ekeler, Reffett and LeBlanc may put together a nasty D sooner rather than later.
  18. Any chance he's on a phone call with Seat and Coach Ek?
