  1. A man who would sit behind RV for fifteen years and go-along-to-get-along doesn't have the drive to get the job done that needs doing. I nominate this guy for the job:
  2. What a waste of a quality start by Perez! I couldn't post about it after the game...I had to vomit. We got Bush-whacked. Now our lead is back down to 9 games and here comes Houston. We must win tonight, I hope Griffin is ready to rock.
  3. Here's where it came from... Michael A. Sicuro and Trip Kuehne <advancement@unt.edu>
  4. The fact that oldguy didn't get the email would imply that his address was not included.
  5. There is an email out addressed to MGC members this morning from Michael Sicuro and Trip Kuehne: The University of North Texas athletics program has reached a critical juncture in its history. At this moment, UNT needs your input and support to make the athletic department the very best it can be in the future. Our alumni, boosters, and former athletes are the lifeblood of the program. During this time of transition, it is extremely important for us to hear from you personally so that you have a voice in the restructuring process. As consultants to UNT President Neal Smatresk for UNT Athletics, Michael A. Sicuro and Trip Kuehne personally invite you to participate in an open forum to be held on the Club Level of Apogee Stadium on Monday, June 27. This candid, honest discussion regarding the state of the athletic department and program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will continue until everyone is heard. The program will begin with comments and a brief Q&A session with head men’s basketball coach Tony Benford and head football coach Seth Littrell. The goal of this meeting is to identify issues of concern and outline steps to better engage, involve, and communicate with those passionate about UNT athletics. We expect a full house, lively discussion and hope that this open forum will begin to unite our fan base.
  6. So...Pezwad was born in Iraq, raised in Virginia, and graduated from George Mason in 2010. What is he doing here? He reportedly just walked into the Denton mosque one day. Sounds like he was admitted to this country under some refugee program. Same pattern as Mateen.
  7. Talk about needing a day off! We are pretty beat up, but they can rest tomorrow before Boston shows up. Starting pitching is going to be a problem and I hope we've got some good arms we can call up. For tonight I'm going to enjoy our ten-game lead over Houston. Here they come! Hopefully Seattle will continue to play themselves out of contention.
  8. A policy like the above could actually MOTIVATE people to join the MGC and buy tickets.
  9. Is it just me, or does this situation seem like it is being kept under wraps? Hopefully, the FBI is all over this guy like white on rice! Questions I would like to see answered are: 1. Citizenship status. 2. What is he doing in Denton? 3. How does he support himself / who is supporting him? 4. Who are his friends and associates? 5. What do the contents of his electronic devices say about him? Looks to me like just another Mateen ready to go off.
  10. Damn! We played down to the competition tonight. Cincy is one of the worst teams right now. We had some luck..Seattle lost and Houston is on the verge as I write this. Hopefully, we won't lose any ground tonight. Nonetheless, we laid an egg tonight. :(
  11. He started on a self-improvement program at 24 Hour Fitness under the direction of his personal trainer.
  12. In my defense, I wasn't counting dollars, just butts. And we can agree they are all butts. So, 700 sounded about right to me given a favorable starting time and assuming reasonable weather and no TV. The video showed about three sections of red in the lower bowl so I stand on my wild-ass guess. We can certainly agree that 700 is absolutely sucky and definitely underperforming.
  13. We can calculate what their attendance might be. The band is "79 Guys and a Dog", that is 80. Then Mummy and Daddy, that is another 160. Then assorted fraternity and sorority-types, say 200. Players' families and friends, SMUt faculty and miscellaneous pervs will add another 200. That adds up to 640 before another 60 as a fudge factor. They will fill 700 seats, which is a tremendous turnout for them. That would seem to me to be far short of the standard allotment for a visiting team to Apogee. JMHO.
  14. Yes, the cost of higher education has outpaced inflation. Side note for general amusement: In 1969, I came to Dallas and went to work for $8,027 per annum; my Social Security payment amounts to more than three times that. What is sad is that my wife and I got by pretty well on that 8 grand. As a single man now, that Soc Sec doesn't go too far today. Had I not saved and invested over the years, I would be in deep doo doo. Inflation is the cruelest tax of all.
  15. They could do what I did for two degrees and work their asses off to pay their own way. It is known as taking responsibility for oneself. Was a member of social and professional fraternities as an undergrad, married with children while a grad student. Missed the undergrad graduation ceremony because I was already at work 500 miles away. Never had a student loan. It took me a little longer but did not harm my career progression. That is the way it used to be done.
  16. Agree with Rick about what the real issue is. But suppose, for the sake of discussion, that I wanted to assent to the dilution of my Second Amendment rights. In that case, Cornyn's bill seemed the least offensive to me. Why, you exclaim? I do not trust the Government to be competent enough, and unbiased enough, to compile a decent list. I do not trust Obama's Justice Department (Eric Holder in a skirt) to resist the temptation to load the "terrorist" list with perceived political enemies. These are the people that had Ted Kennedy (pleasant thought actually, but unjust) and recently Stephen Hayes, a well-known journalist, on the "List". At least Cornyn's bill would have forced them to show a Federal Judge in confidence in a timely manner why the citizens' right to purchase a firearm should be abrogated. If the Government can't do this, the people should not be on the list.
  17. So is Barnette, the setup man. He has me on the verge of soiling myself every time he comes in...but we play great defense behind him.
  18. Rangers do it AGAIN! Houston still 11 games back, Seattle no better than 8 1/2 back (tied in 11th at Detroit). HOW 'BOUT THEM RANGERS? Now bring on those Reds.
  19. There is definitely something fishy about the author of that piece. PS - That fish is a Northern Pike...get it?
  20. Yep! Had a "senior moment" and forgot that we employed a "headhunter". Mea culpa.
  21. We don't disagree. My thought was that we will attract too many resumes with the bar set that low, when we know full well that we are looking for someone with more to offer. JMO.
