  1. Blake, I lived eight years of my life equidistant from Ciudad Victoria and Victoria. The locals called it "el valle de lagrimas", we just called it "The Valley".
  2. It will be quite an event...be sure to bring a plastic hooded poncho to guard against eagle "exhaust".
  3. Welcome! Many posters here have South Texas experience.
  4. OOOPS! You are correct. As a lifetime member, I forget about those things. If he is a member, he may be able to bring a couple buddies as guests but surely not a group.
  5. Speculation, to be confirmed by recent student: It would be the shortest path if you were on foot from most of the dorms.
  6. Alumni Pavillion is fine...for a warmup! Not rowdy enough for a bachelor party to my way of thinking. I always go by there for a while to "warm up" and touch my brick for good luck. A good grilled sausage wrap and some cold beer to get your party started.
  7. Houston has been on a tear and is due for a reality check. Pitching aside, the Rangers just seem to find a way to win. I'll settle for a split of this series. BTW, I just saw that Vegas has the Rangers at 13-2 odds to win the World Series (3rd); the Cubs are at 11-4 (1st).
  8. Not too far away...Sec 207, Row 4, Seats 5 - 8. Just a McNulty floater away!
  9. OUTSTANDING! The swept the and left them a little something for their special sauce. Rangers take the day off tomorrow. They are out of that additive now, but the next four games are with the and that's where it comes from. All we have to do is kick theirs!! Go Rangers...have a beer tonight, you earned it.
  10. Shouldn't have watched this so late at night...now I'm going to have images of two ex-wives dancing and shrieking in my head tonight. Thanks a lot.
  11. I was STUNNED I tell 'ya ...just STUNNED at the timely news articles there!
  12. Wear GREEN. If it is your first one, be sure to walk the area to get a feel for what and where before you settle in one spot or find one group. Be outgoing, you are among friends. The traffic will always be a clusterf so arrive early and stay later, if possible. Take the advice of the dudes who posted above me. Most important, whatever you do, get to your seat before kickoff because we're going to need all the fan support we can muster for our troops.
  13. I think the problem started at breakfast...
  14. I endured the trip to Norman with its horrendous ass-kicking...but I'm still alive! The worst problem that day was defense, as I recall (well, the worst of the worst). I think we have improved on that side of the ball but I'm a little leery of stopping the run. On offense, I think we will surprise some folks with our execution; this assumes the pass blocking holds up well enough. OK...here goes nothing... UNT 35, SMUt 24
  15. I'll be packing BOTH kinds of beer...Bock and Oktoberfest!
  16. Thought you were talking about this one. Networking! Hank Dickenson begins his 23rd season with the Mean Green in 2016. In his administrative role as the Deputy Athletic Director, Dickenson serves as the Mean Green's number two administrator and is responsible for day-to-day operations in the Athletic Director's absence. He currently holds the role of Acting Athletic Director during a national search process. Dickenson led the department's efforts for the Apogee Stadium naming right project which produced the 20-year, $20 million contract. He originally designed the Mean Green Corporate Partner Program that has secured multi-million dollar applications inside Apogee Stadium as well as previous scoreboard renovations at Fouts Field, the Super Pit and the Mean Green Village. Under his direction, sponsorship revenues exceed $1.5 million annually. Working alongside Dave Barnett, Dickenson also provides on-air talent as color commentator (football), play-by-play and color (basketball) with well over 500 North Texas broadcasts to his credit. He teaches Sports Broadcasting, as an adjunct professor at UNT, continuing a tradition set by Hall of Fame broadcaster Bill Mercer. A known fundraiser and active community liaison, Dickenson has been honored as the recipient of UNT's inaugural "Bob Rogers Service and Community Engagement Award", the Denton Chamber of Commerce's highest honor, the "Otis L. Fowler Award," as well being honored by the Boy Scouts of America/Longhorn Council's "Distinguished Citizen Award." A 1987 graduate of the University of Kansas, Dickenson also holds a master's degree in sports administration from the United States Sports Academy. He and his wife, Missy, are proud parents of two boys, Dan (17) and Joe (15). 17. Tough injury!! After minor surgery and some rehab, this Mustang is good as new...
  18. The Rangers triumph over the Indians in a nail biter! Dyson is going to give me a stroke before this season is over. Meanwhile, the thumped the AND the messed up the We're up 8 1/2 games on both losers with head-to-head showdowns coming in the next 10 games. Let's do it!!
  19. The Rangers have a bad (or good, depending on your perspective) habit of playing down to the competition. I apologize for not being able to finish this off with the stats. I bumped into them by accident a few days ago but I can't remember where. Seems like we were near or below .500 against the least competitive teams but over .600 against winning teams. If I find the stats again, I will post them.
  20. Here ya go! Posted by Stebo a while back. By the way, they have been known to do this 2 1/2 hours before kickoff. We need to get confirmation this year. An idea just came to me, courtesy of Shiner: Could we get the North!...Texas!... chant going this year as the team passes by?
  21. Anticipation was written all over their faces! Later that night, after the game...
  22. A blast from the past! This was the beer I grew up hearing about, between every inning of the Chicago Cubs baseball broadcast. Probably won't be sold at Apogee.
