MGB: Firing Benford midseason would be a bad move for UNT

Not me, unless the interim was the ghost of Jerry Tarkanian. I'm looking ahead to October...this season is over. -

Good article, Brett. You made the case for patience (as hard as it is to be patient) very well. You know your post won't rack up points with the majority...the sharks smell blood in the water!- 61 replies

They play competitively...contrast that with their male counterparts. -
Depending on the team's leadership hierarchy internally, you just might be right!

I hear you. My opinion is that we're pretty much screwed whatever fork in the road we take. TheWren's short list probably has the names of Coaches "X", "Y" and "Z" on it, none of whom want to talk to him until their respective conference and/or tournament runs are over. I don't think our coaching bench is too deep after Benford and Evans; I would be surprised if Evans would stay if TB is dispatched. Just My Opinion.

Zero...Zip...None...in over 4 years now. I was a regular through JJ's tenure and before. I'll be back when the AD does the right thing. But I follow the team via this site or radio on a real-time basis, when possible. I have had thoughts, like you, about player performance and the "Q" word...that would be a "Portland State moment".
-
To your "in charge" point, I guess at this point I'm focussed on the young men who wear the green and take the floor to represent us. My opinion is that it would be to everyone's benefit to minimize the turmoil they experience.
-
Well, maybe LaTech will be a "Portland State moment", which would justify some action at this juncture. Then what? Who will steer the boat? How would that improve the potential number of wins? I am churning inside but my head is still in control. Let's all try to resist acting like THIS (FWIW, I'm tempted):
-
This. AT THIS POINT, a change is more disruptive than it is worth. It would be symbolic only. The guy we want to replace TB is not going to be in a position to talk for a few more weeks. I expect action in late March or early April re: interviews; if not, I'll be pissed.

The maintenance crew has set up the equipment outside the Pit and is doing a function check now.

So, you're saying "The beatings will continue until the record improves" ??

Coach Ek likes him...that's all I need to know. -
Make that TWO old men. Typo alert! It is Signing Day not Sighing Day. Or skunk sex: This basketball season is like making love to a skunk...I've had all I can enjoy!
-
Attaboy!! See, things look better already. For what its worth, as I've said before, I think TheWren and Smatty will act as soon as they are able to get commitments to interview from coaches they want. I personally have faith that the situation will be corrected soon, just not soon enough to do anything about this season...it is a sunk cost IMO.

My advice is to breathe deeply, sip a cold Shiner, and think pleasant thoughts...this shall pass. My doctor was on my ass about my blood pressure until I took that advice to heart.
-
How much MORE damage to the fanbase could be done in the next +/- 7 weeks? For practical reasons, I think we're stuck with TB for that period so I'm going to hide and watch.
-
I agree with you. It is one thing to hand Benford his pink slip and quite another to bring in the coach you want NOW...YESTERDAY! The coach we WANT will be successful and obligated to his current team until late March. Lets be patient and let two basketball men (The Wren and Smatty) work their magic. JMO.

But...in your heart you KNOW we are really Number 2!

EagleMBA replied to Caw Caw's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
True, but I was thinking of the geography of his other offers and Biagi when I posted that. Besides, there wasn't THAT much time between the offer and Biagi's hire. Not trying to make a story where none exists, only that the thought did cross my mind. -

Any chance it is Biagi influence? Question, no info. -
