  1. A little premature!
  2. Am I alone in wondering if Mason has fully recovered from his injury?
  3. Well, if you were on old-what's-his-name's short list, you just received the...
  4. It is bad PR and not a good omen that third-party observers have ranked our recruiting class so low. That's like their f-ing opinion. I refuse to get my bowels in an uproar over this, at this time. When we see what these guys look like on the field, when the coaches who supported these guys have a chance to coach them, and then when they underperform...my bowels will be in an uproar and I will be critical. When I go down the list and look at those guys, one by one, I see nothing to dislike. I understand the historical background and the statistics related to the rankings. If these are character kids, given their football resumes, this class is going to outperform.
  5. Keith Frazier has had a really tough run since leaving SMUt. I sincerely wish him the best and hope he recovers fully for the biggest game there is...life.
  6. Mama said, even a blind squirrel sometimes finds an acorn!
  7. In fact, Lois is flying in as we type!
  8. TheWren pumping up for the day that is coming... while shredding unsold ticket stock from this season.
  9. ANOTHER kind of smoke that gives you the munchies!
  10. TB's game plan in a nutshell:
  11. True. And, while not a basketball hall of fame coach, he has a very respectable resume...he is not chopped liver. I remember times when he would stop by the MGC room after the game and talk ball with fans. I also remember the time I first met him at a football game we played at Texas Stadium. He introduced himself before I could introduce myself. Good man and good coach. Agree that we should beat the bushes for candidates but we could do a lot worse, IMO. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Jones_(basketball,_born_1961)
  12. I have been fortunate enough to witness the magic of some good coaches. As an undergrad at Pan American, we had Sam Williams and won the NAIA national championship one year and runner-up the next. Next up at PA was Abe Lemons and I went back for games when able. Then there was Lon Kruger at PA. North Texas was an adjustment but I grew to enjoy Johnny Jones' work. I think TheWren will make a solid choice and I look forward to next season.
  13. Looks like he could put on a few pounds, but this arrangement allows him some weight program time. In Ek I trust!
  14. In the words of Clayton Williams, "If its inevitable, just relax and enjoy it!".
  15. Where you been? It is a great movie for sure; it has been so long I'll have to find and watch it again to refresh my memory. :)
  16. At 6'4" and 270, as a freshman, he has a lot of growth potential. I look forward to seeing what Mr. Tibbs can do.
  17. YOU DA MAN !!! Now I'm REALLY envious. Congratulations.
  18. SoundMan, you acted too hastily, although I am really envious. Valentine's Day is coming soon! If you had held out a little longer and dropped a few hints...
  19. I'm shocked, I tell 'ya, SHOCKED!
  20. The reasons I am remaining as calm as possible while waiting for the inevitable: 1) Does anyone know if there is an ironclad agreement in place which says between the lines that, barring an incident of moral turpitude, TB is allowed to coach his final season to conclusion? Tied to RV's "retirement" agreement? 2) This season is done in 7 weeks; I'm choosing to take a longer, future view of the program. 3) Given the demonstrated performance and record to date, any additional wins will be meaningless. I would like to see the players win a few more for THEM, but it won't mean much in the overall scheme of things. 4) Given the importance of the replacement hire, I want TheWren to take as much time as he needs to "get it right". In the short time he has been here, there has been a lot of high-priority things on his plate. This is another and he will get to it in the proper sequence. I have faith in his abilities and can be patient. For my friend UNT90, I am not fine with 0 - 18 but what will be, will be. I do pray that will not happen and the guys finish on a better note...I'm just not betting the beer money on it. Just my opinion. Further Affiant Sayeth Not!
