Let him prostitute his services to another school. IMHO, he would be BAD for team unity. He is just one guy, albeit at a key position where we had no meaningful production last year. I believe in our guys we have right now and am confident that one of them will step up and perform this year. Bomar is NOT the second coming!

I chose to ride the charter bus three years ago and it was a great trip. If they put another charter together next year, that is the way to go. OU even had the class to give us decent seats. Except for the rain, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Norman. Oh, and the finish...I didn't like the finish. We played them very tough and they slipped in a couple of late scores to make it look worse than it really was.

Character is a major factor, and this guy has none. When you lie down with dogs, you get fleas! I wouldn't even take his phone call if I was DD. I predict that we will hear more about Bomar in the future...and it will not be good.

My three favorite beers are Shiner, Shiner and Shiner...in no particular order.

I have two total hip replacements. Both were due to avascular necrosis of the femoral heads...feels like your're being jabbed by a screwdriver every time you move. I had mine done 4 months apart (minimum recommended) and it was a year before I had enough leg strength to confidently walk without a cane. The way they were talking, he might be back next year but I would doubt it seriously. For a competitive athlete, his rehab would be different than mine but I don't think he could get his form back in less than 2 years. I do believe he could race again, though. That is one thing you could still do well after recovery from that surgery. The man has guts and we should all be proud.

I think my sister went to high school with her. I'm going to ask Sis for the REAL scoop on her!

Notre Dame is my second choice. Born and raised 5 miles east of ND Stadium. My uncle was an usher and slipped me an occasional ticket when I was a kid. Growing up, I was exposed to all the tradition and fanfare that surrounds ND football and still get emotional when they play the Victory March. Having said that, there is absolutely no doubt where my first allegiance resides...and it ain't in South Bend!

Me too! I didn't really have a need because I bought the 2GB drive at Fry's. But when I saw the 512MB North Texas one, I just had to have it too. Shipping confirmation email came this morning and I should have mine tomorrow.

If we picked up a kicker ranked higher than the one USC signed he must be damaged goods. I say we should call a "do over" and go for someone ranked more in keeping with our status.

I went to Fry's at lunch to pick up apromotion-priced 2 GB PNY USB Flash Drive. When I opened the package there was a promo piece for collegiate merchandise. Thinking we would be snubbed again, I went to the site and, lo and behold, there is a UNT 512MB USB Flash Drive with our colors and the new eagle spirit logo for $29.95. Here's the link: http://www.pny.com/products/flash/CollegeUSB.asp

Eddrick Gilmore, on a cold February night at the SnakePit, once blew past Oscar Robertson off the dribble and did a 360 spin/jam. Those were the good old MVC conference days.

I always seemed to get the ugliest one.

Your son and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Me and Mrs. Eagle will double up for you. Faith will get you through.

I've been a member for several years now, and will continue to be one. If you asked for a show of hands as to how many posters here ARE and HAVE BEEN MGC members for at least a year or more you would be surprised (hopefully) at the number of affirmative responses. This trip we're on here is more than just buying tickets for our entertainment (I know, some here will want to debate the definition of "entertainment" after last season). If you haven't joined, PLEASE do, at any economic level that is comfortable to you.

PART OF THE SOLUTION or PART OF THE PROBLEM?
EagleMBA replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Count me in as part of the solution. I upped my season tickets from 2 to 4. Admittedly, getting butts in two of those seats might be difficult if we start slow again. BUT I BELIEVE IN THE MEAN GREEN!! -
Dickenson excells at business of sports
EagleMBA replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I've been on that campus several times, but it was back when it was UCC (University of Corpus Christi). My former business school Dean and mentor, Dr. Bob McMichael, went there when he was passed over for the presidency of Pan American University (now UT-PanAm). Bob got their business program shaped up and accredited. With the influx of the A&M money, I suspect the campus is much more impressive than it used to be. Great location if you don't mind the annual hurricane threat! -
The deck is just fine and I like to go there about 45 minutes before kickoff. If I had to gripe about anything, it would be the congestion getting into the place. There were some games last season that I gave up trying to get in because of the people backed up and lack of movement. That needs to be fixed this year.

Breaks my f'n heart to hear that, Cowtown. They'll probably be forced to sell the yacht and lay off part of the domestic staff.

I'm all about capitalism, Schumpeter economics, and free market competition. But THESE guys went too far! Since I heard the news, I've been humming a song from one of my favorite musicals, "Chicago"..."he had it comin', he had it comin'...".

Major talks like a coach...losing is not in his vocabulary...he has high expectations for his players...very POSITIVE message. The kind of coach I played for years ago. The message our men need to hear from our current staff.

There's no second-guessing the WAC "no, thank you". Being in that league would be a real nightmare from all the practical aspects. The SunBelt is the Rodney Daingerfield of 1-A for sure at the moment. Having said that, I'm glad we're there because I think the league is poised to be more competitive with its OOC schedule. True, the BIGS have loaded up our individual schedules with body bag games, but there can be a few surprises in there. I will be looking more for COMPETITIVE games (as reflected mostly by scores) as an indication of overall progress. A limited number of real blowouts and a handful of upsets would make me feel better about our conference after this season. This is the time of the year to dream and be optimistic ... and I AM.

I see your point, NC, and think it's a logical observation. I would defend his right to be named to the team by saying " Yes, he had to make a lot of tackles because of the porous defensive front...BUT HE MADE THEM!". Probably made a high percentage in the clutch, where he was all that stood between the offensive guy and a score. Haven't researched that, just my opinion.

MT (muts for you UNT fans) gets Georgia Tech
EagleMBA replied to KAjunRaider's topic in Mean Green Football
Congratulations to the MUTS for a nice piece of scheduling. The new AD seems to be determined to get them on the right track financially. We can only hope to be able to bring that kind of draw to Denton when we have a new facility. To borrow Plumm's mantra, "Build It! Now!! Friggin' YESTERDAY!!!". Well, that's not exactly how Plumm says it but I think it captures his sentiments. -
I don't know about suing over the security gate malfunction, but I would suspect it's grounds for breaking your lease without penalty. Give the landlord notice and ten days to cure, then look for another place in case you want to follow through. Maybe some attorney in Denton would do a little pro bono sabre rattling for the residents. If the guy can't score legitimately in Denton, he must be really messed up.

Well, as to the quality of his thought processes, he DID come from a party. Do you think he was stone cold sober? I think he might have indulged in a few adult beverages and/or a J. He just doesn't strike me as the type to say "Just a little ginger ale for me...I'm driving".
