  1. Haven't you ever done something you regretted in a rit of fealous jage? Yeah, the cover-up exposes a character flaw, Homer, I agree. Enough to scrutinize and grill him about that aspect of his personality. Not enough to bar him from the coaching profession as long as there is not an existing pattern of behavior there. I wish he had just had the courage to say, "yeah, I'm sorry, I'm human, I eff'd up!".
  2. THAT is where he learned his patented "horse-collar motivation" technique. Seriously, Leavitt is just what we need at this time, provided his legal issues get resolved.
  3. From what I witnessed last Saturday night, there are several players who could truly benefit from some Jim-Leavitt-style motivation!
  4. I desperately want UNT to win and be respected. I do not want this status to come about at all costs.
  5. Yes, but they were askin' for it!
  6. Only if Leach would agree to weekly "sessions" with the best clinical psychology faculty members we could recruit to work with him!
  7. Jim Leavitt is my choice, unless the pending litigation will not be resolved anytime soon. Mike Canales, if he shows something, is better than "up and coming assistant". Don't know enough about the others yet to make an intelligent choice. We don't need a household name, we just need a solid coach. Hell, give Chico his shot he's paid his dues.
  8. Exactly what I wanted to say! It was time for this change but that doesn't give me any pleasure. Negative things just continued to snowball for this man...sometimes you just need a fresh start to get back on track. He obviously gave the best he could bring under the circumstances with which he had to cope. Thank you, Todd Dodge, and good luck to you!
  9. I absolutely agree with you. I'm just saying that the current staff does not consist of Curly, Larry and Moe. There are some serious people on this staff that a new HC would seriously consider retaining. And not just to maintain continuity...because they are good.
  10. Oops! I did not realize that Leavitt was in litigation. The numbers make him untouchable. Oh well. Leach is a head case IMO and I'd just as soon pass on him anyway. This isn't going to be easy!
  11. Think about this: RV hires Jim Leavitt. Reunites him with his former OC, Deloach is respected and has brought the defense back, most of the other coaches may also be acceptable to Leavitt. Another coach would probably clean house and start over, meaning the athletes start from scratch with plays, terminology, etc. This team is close to turning the corner...I believe it. I would hate to see everything torn down and the beginning of a rebuilding effort...again. Can we salvage something here?
  12. Notre Dame. I grew up less than 5 miles from the stadium and was raised on the Fighting Irish. My uncle was an usher at the stadium and passed tickets to me from time to time (I still have those stubs). I was also brainwashed for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, but that is another story. Suffice it to say that I have been deprogrammed and have been REprogrammed for the Rangers and Cowboys for many years now. Since I was an undergrad at UT-Pan American, I follow their basketball scores and record as my UNT backup team.
  13. I may attempt the trip for Tech but I normally don't put up with the agony during the week. For me to arrive in a timely manner during the week I have to take off from work two or three hours earlier than my normal workaholic departure. This is not for trip time as much as it is getting to a point near Carrollton by 5:00 p.m. to be in the front wave of the tsunami. I don't mind doing that once in awhile but I could not do it for a full season.
  14. Personally, I cross the river to Bossier City and stay at Diamond Jack's (the old Isle of Capri). I'm booked there again this trip. I do go into Shreveport to the Riverwalk area and like to eat at the Blind Tiger.
  15. I can't claim to have been to that many schools but I can verify that ULM has a very nice tailgating setup in a wooded area next to the stadium. Our new setup may be somewhat like it, although ULM's is flat topography whereas ours may be sloped and uneven in places. I guess we'll just have to see how ours is laid out.
  16. Monroe won't make your lifetime list of memorable places, but it is easy to get to and from and is not unpleasant.
  17. \ Glenn, I like the ULM trip! I lay up at a casino in Shreveport for the weekend and make the easy drive over to Monroe for the game. I just bought my tickets this morning and I have them held at Will Call in Monroe by our Ticket Office folks. Yes, there is a dandy little tailgate of our own and their folks are very hospitable too. Do this, you will like it a lot. And we WILL win the game too (unlike the last time I went).
  18. Best wishes for a fantastic birthday, Rick! Celebrate the firefighter's way...extinguish those candles!
  19. So I think what we are saying is that the present sloped dirt ring above field level is eventually going to be seating. Is that correct?
  20. What John said!! Congratulations and many happy returns.
  21. He may be, no reason to think he's not. Your avatar and he would probably get along.
  22. Deep, Row 17. There was some back-and-forth movement to Row 16, but the problem was on 17.
  23. Flyer does not owe anyone an apology, folks. We were all subjected to boorish behavior from some tanked-up Southlake "swells" with familial ties to players.
  24. Pass me the pipe!
  25. Shavod Atkinson!! He improved his play for the fourth week in a row. Two solo tackles and three assists. Shavod and his teammates did a great job on bottling up Morris and the FAU attack. Congratulations, Mr. Atkinson!!
