We got gutted by a team that was without their star player. WITH their star player they got DRILLED by Baylor (22 pts) and Pittsburgh (25 pts). I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'.

Good discussion and points made in the last few posts. Whether you inherit a diamond or a turd, it usually takes the new guy time to make it shine. I do agree that one takes more effort than the other. IMO, the reality is that we are on this train for a while so relax and try to enjoy it. If we can't stop it before it falls off the trestle, then be like Slim Pickens in "Dr. Strangelove" and whoop and holler all the way down.

All of this venom aimed at Benford on multiple threads after only 7 games got me to remembering. There was one hell of a brouhaha on here about running off Johnny Jones a few years ago (I counseled patience, you can look it up) and now he walks on water with a large majority of us. I am thinking take a deep breath and give Benford time to straighten this thing out before calling in the hit man. He has the basketball resume and he is surrounded by quality assistants. Lets demand some accountability from those kids whose job it is to play as a team and put the ball in the hole.

I wasn't really thinking about TM or any specific player. Collectively, they crapped in the nest and didn't show much TEAM. I would never intentionally dog on any specific player in any UNT sport, so if I gave that impression I apologize to all. They ARE kids and they don't have it together yet. Maybe we allowed the press to heighten our expectations too far for this team this year.

These guys have been reading their press coverage. None of them could hit a bull in the ass with a brushpile last night. I saw no sense of urgency, they were just going through the motions. UTA wanted it! You can trash Benford or RV or anyone you like but they will never handle the ball and put up a shot. It is on the players and they are proving to be overrated, IMHO.

Ditto on the itinerary and sentiments. I enjoy this trip and am glad that LATech will be in our conference since we lose ULM. Staying at DiamondJacks again.

Somewhere in my past I will admit to screaming "Throw the ball, Dickey!" at the top of my lungs on multiple occasions. This offense is "different" and we throw enough to balance, while controlling the clock. At least it doesn't feature draw plays on third-and-long. It is ugly when it ain't workin' but it was workin' in the third and fourth quarters last night to perfection.

In the second half, like a drum!

It was so annoying in the beginning that I just turned the radio to another station. The techies need to get their $hit together; radio remotes were done flawlessly even when I was a kid (circa early - mid 50s). It is even more annoying than the officials' mics at Apogee (what's up with that for the second year?).

It looked to me like Bynes would take that pass in stride and score. He was 3 yards behind the coverage at full gallop when he went down like he was shot. They worked on his left hamstring on the trainer's bench and I hope it was just a cramp and not a hammie pull.

Tevinn Cantly did his usual good job. It is puzzling that the stats reflect another o'fer for my man, because I saw him involved in plays and the announcers called his name at least once. It was a three-man tackle so I guess the stat man gave it to someone else. Cantly is a force when he is in there and I hope his dings respond to treatment and he is 100% for Troy. Tevinn did the Mean Green faithful proud.

Tevinn Cantly, my adopted player, is doing well. He is still banged up but his motor was running Saturday night. I saw him come down the walk at the Mean Green March with his game face on and knew he would go. The "official" stats do not reflect what he accomplished. He was getting good penetration and stuffing up his lanes, forcing runners into other tacklers all night. I was proud to support him and hear Coach Mac give him props during the radio show. I hope he is close to 100% for KSU.

OK ... IS THE GAME AT 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.??? I don't care but the woman does.

Didn't everyone?

I was away for a couple of days and recorded the game. First, I had time to check the stats and was stunned that my adopted player, Tevinn Cantly, had an O'fer game. Today I learned that he was injured early, which made me sad. I really wanted him to be able to play unhampered by injuries this year. Then I got around to watching the game and saw that Tevinn was getting good penetration. On one play in particular he was robbed of a TFL when the Tiger runner turned away from him right into another tackler. I am proud to say that he was a factor while he was in there. I sincerely hope that he quickly recovers fully. We need you Tevinn, but take the time to heal properly. On another note, I didn't see any quit in the Mean Green and I'm damned proud of your performance against a very powerful team. Special teams needs to rise to the test, and the D gave up a few big plays, but overall this game looked more competitive than the score indicated. Let's come home this week and kick some ass...it's better to give than receive!
