A word of caution. I have friends who make the Austin trip occasionally and I did once a few months ago. Beware of construction delays and detours! My trip took an hour longer than normal, both ways. As an abundance of caution, I would launch a half-hour earlier than you indicated and drive like hell when you have clear sailing. A 10:30 arrival in the Fair Park area means you won't get to your seats until after kickoff and you will miss all the pregame ceremonies. Just my advice for what it is worth.

DMN College Bowl Selectors Like the Mean Green Alot to Win!
EagleMBA replied to Green59's topic in Mean Green Football
On paper, UNLV looks pretty good. This is an excellent matchup and a worthy opponent for us. Vito probably sees that, hence his prediction. If our guys are focused on gameday we will cover. If they still have visions of bowl swag dancing in their heads at kickoff, we're in for a UTSA performance. Watch them on the sideline about the second quarter and see if there is energy. An impressive win would be great for the program but I'll be happy with a win...period. -
The knock on the door came this morning! Sec 23, Row 39.

I received a telephone call this afternoon. My tickets should be delivered tomorrow via FedEx. FYI, I ordered on 12/8. I was patient but just about ready to pick up the phone...they beat me to the draw. If they are overrun, that is a good problem for us to have. As long as I get them by Monday, I'm good.

Just out of interest: 4 how many fans will this be ur 1st NT Bowl?
EagleMBA replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I am a 68-year old virgin. There was always something going on to prevent me from breaking away to New Orleans, and I have always regretted not experiencing that. I have seen a few Cotton Bowl games (pre-Jerry World) over the years and only once had to leave due to a frozen butt. I hope we will have reasonable temperature with little wind and no rain this year when I lose my UNT virginity. I'm asking Mother Nature to be gentle. -

Haven't seen mine at this writing. Hopefully, some time today.

Oops! What I meant to say is that our men will have their hands full, based on the video I saw of UNLV linemen. They are clearly very powerful and will be hard to move out of their lanes.
-
From some UNLV video I noticed that they had some very large linemen. My first observation was that they were major lard-asses with big guts. Like they spend too much time at buffets on the Strip. Show me they can play sideline-to-sideline and I'll tip my hat to them.

Talked with the North Texas Ticket office!
EagleMBA replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
I bought my parking pass from HOD. They use a ticketing system/purveyor called Tix. At checkout my options were 1st Class Mail or (DUH) Will Call . What, me worry? My pass is being mailed. -
You asked for it. Mean Green HoD commercial
EagleMBA replied to DT 90's topic in Mean Green Football
Frankly, I'm impressed that they reacted so quickly. Re-purposed or not, they got it out as soon as the facts were known. Now there is time to put a more specific product out. A tip of the hat to all involved. -
Thought Holtz might give a little love to Mac when our game came up...not a word from any of them.

I got an email that said all tickets purchased by the 18th would be "assigned" and shipped out FedEx on the 20th unless you want to do a WillCall.
-
I just bought mine and put my seating fate in the hands of the AD. Logged in with the account number from my season ticket package and reset my password. I have done this before with road games and always got treated right re: location and surrounded by friendlies. No worries, Mate, just order your tickets and take what you get. You will not be disappointed.

Crowd was a pleasant surprise. Better than I thought for the conditions. I was layered and still froze my obama. That was the coldest 40-degree day I have experienced in years.

Your Memories & Thoughts of JFK, 11.22.63 Up To Present
EagleMBA replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I was sitting in a freshman English class in the Liberal Arts Building on the Pan American campus in Edinburg when crowd noise in the hall got louder and louder. The prof checked it out, came back looking ashen, told us quickly the bottom line, and dismissed class. I walked back to the dorm and crowded around the TV in the lobby with other residents. After a while (I am ashamed to say in retrospect) we decided to go to Mexico, have a few cervezas, and mess with the ladies. When we got to Reynosa, the "establishments" were all shuttered. When we asked why, we were told "Because Kennedy is dead." The Mexicans showed more respect for Kennedy than we did at that moment. Memories of the events of that day, the effects it had on history, and the ghost of how ignorant I was at that age, will be with me until I die. -
Agree, Emmitt. I only dread the thought of giving them more incentive to be spoilers.
-
No offense intended to anyone. To me, it symbolizes attitude ...take no prisoners! The Alamo is not the only place around the world where it has been played before a battle. Maybe we should play "Hey, Baby!" before kickoff so our opponents feel loved.
-
It would be VERY appropriate just before kickoff if one of our talented musicians in the horn section picked up a bugle and sounded El Deguello !!! If any of you read this post, could you make it happen?
-
To Hilbert, my adopted player this year, I second that emotion! I know you have a couple more in you that you've been saving up for Soza.

What's your connection and why do you follow UNT?
EagleMBA replied to Travis's topic in Mean Green Football
Born and raised in Mishawaka, IN, just a couple of miles from Notre Dame Stadium. Uncle was an usher and I got to see a few games. After high school, I came across the country to attend Pan American (now UT-Pan American) in Edinburg. After graduation, took my first job in Dallas. In the 70s, took some graduate work at NTSU and SMUt. Finally got around to getting serious about grad school in the late 80s and did the MBA the hard way (6 hours per semester while working in the investment banking business). Started to go to football games when I got my first student ID and I was hooked. I bleed green. -
Happy Birthday, Mark. For your birthday I have arranged for an eagle to drop an anvil on a roadrunner a week from tomorrow.
