  1. There were numerous good ideas in the above thread. I would have reservations on ideas that substantially changed the configuration/use of space at the floor level in any permanent way. Particularly concerning would be narrowing any tunnel entrances. My reasoning is that this building is a muti-purpose building not dedicated to basketball. Those tunnels accommodate vehicles to transport exhibits or whatever that may be required to be delivered to the floor. Until it belongs solely to the athletic department, I don't see how it could be truly customized for our basketball use. That doesn't mean that great things can't be done to improve the "look and feel" on gamedays. Just my humble opinion.
  2. Agreed! My bad. I really should have suggested we edit the cry to "Complete the F'n pass, ......." but then I would have to advocate getting on a specific player. I do not advocate that. The statistics show that we attempted a balanced attack, for sure. Getting the ball to Harris, Goree, et al, in stride headed upfield a few times should free up some running room. Someone has to be capable of putting a catchable ball there for them. Surely one of our quarterbacks could do that. Playbook be damned! I don't care if they draw the play up on the artificial turf if they can execute it. They have to find a way to get the defense to respect the pass or we will be seeing more of our talented running back corps get hurt. One more thing : GO MEAN GREEN! I'll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for letting me vent.
  3. Trotting out the same offense against Rice will be a disaster. Until we can balance the attack we are going to get our asses handed to us. I remember "Throw the F'n ball, Dickey!!". Maybe it is time to update that call.
  4. Yeah, those Baylor boys said real bad stuff. And as for the girls, they all wore thongs under those Laura Ashley dresses !
  5. Duke, here is another voice warning you that the Mean Green thing can get to be addictive if you aren't careful. I earned a BBA elsewhere, then attended a few games casually in the 70s. Circa 1985 I became a graduate student and couldn't pass up using my student ID to attend regularly (finance people always look for value) and I've been around ever since. Look what it led to! Be prepared to change your life.
  6. Thumbs up to Carlos for speaking up. We have loads of receiver talent, including Carlos, and would like to see the damage they will do. Personally, I just want to see someone under center who has the ability to throw strikes to Carlos and the rest so they can spread the defense and take some of the pressure off our running game. We are simply one-dimensional at this point and we will get beat to death every week unless that changes.
  7. I need to walk back the above post and correct the record. I'm sorry, I was mistaken. That was not the smell of a dead pony...THAT WAS US !
  8. Agreed! I thought for sure we would see a change late in the game. It seemed the normal thing to do.
  9. I'll say "Amen", pastor.
  10. I would rather do the low crawl over a hundred yards of broken Shiner bottles and let Rosie O'Donnell cleanse her colon on my face than watch McNulty play QB!
  11. Thanks, fans, for the huge turnout. We are disappointed, didn't capitalize on opportunities. We are going to make a huge improvement by next week (or Rice will kick our ass). Andy Mac has to not make mistakes.
  12. Defense plays balls-to-the-wall until they are exhausted. They gave a super effort. Unfortunately, the offense could not hold the ball long enough to spell them down the stretch...deja vu. We have offensive weapons and do not have a quarterback who is capable of putting the ball in their hands. AGAIN.
  13. The radio guys say he is out 2 weeks or more with a broken finger.
  14. I love the smell of dead pony in the morning. Roadkill and flatulence with a hint of oats!
  15. Welcome, Brandon. Please accept the advice of an experienced old man and dump the girlfriend. Those infected with the "Imelda Marcos virus" are incurable and will cut into your Shiner budget in perpetuity.
  16. He's probably a pledge nicknamed Flounder. Some active has glued his pants to the stadium seat and he's trying to stand up.
  17. Yeah they seemed perplexed, especially the tall guy with the long arms. Even Caitlyn Jenner next to him couldn't sort it out.
  18. Thank God for the Green Brigade. It will save us from 49 Mr. Peppermints playing "She'll Be Comin' Round The Mountain" ad nauseum. Just the thought of that made me puke a little bit in my mouth.
  19. I will try Dallas North Tollway to 380 and make a rear entry.
  20. UPDATE - Per posted recommendation from rws69, I called Laura Nichols this morning at 940-369-8916. Excellent response! She assured me the parking passes will be in the mail to me in the near future. She has the cure if you are "irrigated".
  21. I hate to sound like a broken record but...I received my season tickets today AND I DID NOT RECEIVE MY PARKING PASSES. This is the second year in a row for me. I am irrigated.
  22. I am always wary of being an "early adopter". I'll let you brave souls charge up the hill and take fire. I will wait about six months and analyze the body count before I take the leap.
  23. If possible without significant effort, I would love to see a picture taken recently from the same angle/perspective. It would truly be an amazing comparison...in a good way!
  24. This thread brings back fond memories of being both a hazee and, later, a hazer. My personal favorite was being dropped on a country road in a T-shirt, underwear and shoes about five miles from campus at midnight. Being the smart pledge that I was, I always had a quarter taped to my arse for the nearest pay phone I could find. It was great life experience. When I was bussed from the Reception Center at Fort Bliss to the barracks and Smokey the Bear yelled at me to "Drop Fat F**k and give me 20!" I was able to comply without pizzing myself or calling 911 (actually, was there a 911 in 1967?), thanks to my fraternity experiences. It was all good clean brotherly fun in those days, people. The current crop seems to be a little soft, IMO, or am I just an old curmudgeon?
  25. Geez, I don't know how you could quit watching before the climax at San Jacinto, where Emily works her magic. If you have it on DVR, I recommend that you break open a Shiner Family Reunion box, down two or three, and then watch it.
