I understand and appreciate your thoughts on this co-interim thing. My take on this is that you can't let the inmates run the asylum, they have to be supervised. One supposedly knows the offense and the offensive players; the other supposedly knows the defense and the defensive players. The players all know these guys. This all happened so quickly that it is probably too late to interject another coach into this mix, even if one was available. This is not a long-term solution but it is not a bad five-day solution, or even a seven-game solution, because that is what I think it is. JMO.

My personal strategy will be to attend the last three home games and then hide and watch. As changes are made, I will evaluate them using all my double-secret, proprietary techniques. If I like what I see by April, I'm in for another roll of the dice. If I don't like what I see, that budget line item may get re-titled as "Custom AR-15 w/Optics".

I sat through the whole debacle; I always make it to the Alma Mater. After a while, it didn't hurt so bad - in fact it was funny in spots. Sort of a 3 Stooges performance. I honestly do not EVER remember seeing a less-competitive football game played by North Texas. The boys from Portland came to town on a mission, they had a very good team that appeared to me to be very sound fundamentally, and they kicked our ass. I think it could have been even worse if they wished.

Who knows? One THEORY (no facts) might be that RV has been given the date of his own execution and was told to take out Mac before he cleans his own desk. So RV does it this way out of bitterness. I've witnessed a lot of that Machiavellian bullshit in both the public and private sector; I worked in both.

Did THAT actually happen? If so, it is the most classless way to dismiss a coach I have ever heard of. That alone is enough to drop the ax on RV. Mac has his faults but he did not deserve that!

I suspect this is one of those decisions that was made quickly out of necessity. It is certainly not a logical decision to make but when you have a game on the fifth day from now with Godzilla, you go with what is immediately available. You have a few days to sort it out after next Thursday.
