  1. I expect it will not be until after spring ball. If I was in their shoes, I would be concentrating on organizing spring camp and evaluating my roster from this moment until May or June. JMO.
  2. FIFY. Everyone has to grow up some time; he seems to be doing a good job of delaying that time.
  3. From your lips to God's ears. If he establishes that he gives us the best chance to win, then I want him on the field in spite of the fact we have to burn his redshirt. He should have the best command of the playbook on day one. For his sake (thinking of his overall career here and his personal development) I hope he doesn't have to be under the gun to play right away. I am looking forward to seeing him in Mean Green.
  4. To refresh your memory, its called "moving the chains". This is how Mac did it... THIS is how Littrell will do it...
  5. I did notice that UNT made the list on the TV sports last night. I think I was watching Channel 4 (don't remember, was into the Shiner). According to their graphic they put up while singing the praises of Charlie Strong, Texas was #8, SMUt was #64, and we were #114. They had several others but UT and UNT were the bookends.
  6. Amen! After seeing and hearing Ekeler, and seeing the defensive signees in this class, I am less worried about the defensive side of the ball going forward.
  7. One thing I like about this opportunity for Fine is that he is not under immediate pressure to see the field. In fact, I hope he can be redshirted this season so that he has the opportunity to fully adjust to the step up in competition and we can have him eligible longer. To state the obvious, there will be guys in practice who make plays on his ball that he hasn't seen before. But I think his skills will translate under Harrell's tutelage.
  8. I think his presser starts around 29 minutes in and then Dave Barnett's great little show comes at about 57 minutes in.
  9. Agree that it is sad, BUT it would be sadder for him to be buried on the depth chart behind four and five-star players and never get a shot to show his skills. He is in the right place IMO.
  10. I upped my grade a notch to A- . I think he has done one helluva good job in lining up some incoming talent to blend with the kids already here. Let's see what he and his staff can do with what they now have to work with. My grade could slip higher after the spring game.
  11. We have some good kids currently in PWO status. The only reason I singled out Pirtle is that I am intrigued by the prospect of Fine and Pirtle duplicating their high school performance for UNT a couple of years down the road. That would make a helluva story...movie material even.
  12. This is a guy that we could recruit and keep in a cage under the stadium until game day. Feeding would be slices of raw meat on a stick poked through the bars. On game day, we drop him a uniform and let him loose onto the field.
  13. They say the only ignorant question is the one you don't ask. So, having said that, where do the scholarships for the PWOs come from? Assuming for the moment that we have used 19, that leaves 6 from this year's pot of 25. When a kid who is a PWO (say Pirtle, for example) earns a scholarship, does it come from this year's pot or next year's pot?
  14. Thank you, Lord! It is easier to plug those gaps when you have a big Johnson!!
  15. I hope we didn't piss him off. Its hard to play with a sore Johnson.
  16. Enjoyed it. We was robbed!!! The schmucks rated Joe's commercial #4.
  17. I agree with you. In this particular situation, it appears that Daddy doesn't need a retirement plan for financial reasons. It appears to be motivated by psychic rewards. For Augie's future development, it would seem to me to be good for him to chart his own course and make his own decisions. JMHO.
  18. My worst nightmare! Well, next to falling into a wood chipper.
  19. With his knowledge of (and demonstrated performance in) a similar system, I have felt that Fine will work out well. Fine has the drive to succeed here. We seem to be set for this fall; give Fine a year to build strength and adapt to the higher level of play in practice and he should be competent in a year. Bring in one or two others as the opportunities present themselves, and we should have a good QB corps going forward. JMO.
  20. I get a distinct gut feeling that Daddy is driving the bus, not Son. Daddy seems like a micro-manager and Son seems totally submissive. It is almost as if Daddy is so involved because he sees his investment in Son as his retirement plan.
  21. This photo Vito uses has always bugged me! This is why! Either Augie wants to play at this level...or he doesn't. Starting to seem to me like a cup we should pass by.
  22. I wish him the very best in life with no lingering effects. I never want to see any athlete risk life-altering injuries for a game.
