Too Many Law Students?
KRAM1 replied to Greenrex's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
If you talk to the Dean of "out" school, you will find they are working diligently daily on accreditation and do feel confident in gaining such. I have not talked to any of the students so I can't speak to their "stress" over the accreditation issue, but I have to assume that if they were that worried about it they would not have enrolled in the first place. Now that the school is a reality, shouldn't folks be supporting it instead of finding ways to find fault? While it is in Dallas and is the "Dallas" UNT law school, it does carry the UNT system banner of which UNT Denton is the main cog. A successful law school will go a long way to increase the positive perception of people in general regarding UNT. Most, I would hazard a guess, have no clue what part of the overall system it belongs with, and frankly, they probably don't care. It is all UNT to them. A rising tide floats all boats here folks. And, before someone here gets butt hurt again, this reply is aimed at no one nor is it disagreeing with anyone. In fact I agree here...most do not seem worried, as stated, in obtaining accreditation as they are working diligently daily on obtaining same. -
These gun arguments are fun and all that, and we all know that no one is going to change their position. We also know that both sides can come up with stats to support their views. No news there at all, but what I see missing in most of these narratives is the role that our mental health systems, or lack thereof, play in these situations. This guy in VA clearly has a mental problem...he looked for reasons to be mad and upset over any little thing...was fired for the same thing from at least two other jobs...the guy had a problem. However, our mental health system in this nation is extremely lacking to care for folks with any sort of issues and they, even if recognized, cannot be compelled to treatment. Long ago the "do-gooders" worked to end most institutionalizations of mentally ill patients. Rather they were to be treated "within society". Now, even if a person is identified by mental health professionals as having a serious mental health issue, unless they are deemed a threat to themselves or others, they cannot be compelled to agree to any sort of treatment. While this VA shooter clearly had mental issues, it pales in the face of the Colorado movie shooter, the kid who shot up the school and on and on. The "more gun control/less gun control, "guns don't kill people, people do", if he couldn't have gotten a gun" arguments go on and on, but none will amount to squat unless we touch this very real issue. My family has personal experience with a relative having serious mental health issues, and I once had a brother-in-law with very serious mental health issues. I can tell you from experience that, if they had wanted, both could have purchased a gun any time they wished even though we were incapable, legally, of getting them the treatment they could have used to find help because neither agreed to treatment. Thankfully, neither ever bought a gun, but one did threaten an individual with a kitchen knife. You guessed it, even then we could not require...nor could the authorities....that he attend treatment because he was not ruled an on-going threat. Really? The "good news" to this story is that both finally agreed to treatment and both responded beautifully. But, point is THEY had to agree to it...of course a family "bribe or two" helped. Hey...any port in a storm. today's mental health professionals, for the most part, are very good at what they do, and could help many of these people BEFORE they become killers IF we were to change a few current rules, regs and laws regarding mental health issues. so, argue about gun control all you want, but it gets no where until and unless we find a better way to identify and treat the mentally ill.

nope. did not misread a thing...not even your reply here. PS: you would have to get up a lot earlier to spoil anything for me. You aren't important enough for me to care what you think. PSS: if you don't like my replies...don't direct your pompous posts directly to me. Easy, huh? PSS: these folks on Ashley Madison are scumbags ... you are free to defend them if you wish. Or, to make up inane possibilities how some fool could have been vindictive enough to "join" in someone else's name. i think it may be time to cut this thread off...at least for me. -
Too Many Law Students?
KRAM1 replied to Greenrex's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The warning signs of this have been around a long time. Really no news. As to "Out" law school it does aim at a different segment of the law population and is working to provide a much more cost effective law education. We will see how that works out after a few graduating classes. But, a lower cost, urban based law school in the Dallas metroplex seems doable and has the potential for success. We all wait to see. One thing many law schools and colleges in general fail to do a very good job of is I the area of placement services and career counseling. If the UNT Law School put some significant resources into that area perhaps success for both the school and its newly minted law grads would follow. Hopefully, UNT is doing just that. Edit: Funny...someone's ego is either butt hurt or folks just are being testy...pretty funny. Maybe it's that new "follower" I got recently. Ever since I got that notice from GMG.Com it seems a bunch of negatives are appearing. Isn't it odd? -

You know lots of self-righteous men frequenting strip clubs? You just may need to find a new set of friends. You are correct about those last two sentences.. -

Yep...I would Alonzo. Why? Because I would know some jerk did it and not me. And, so would anyone who knows me. It would take a real jerk to do something like that and a very small person...not some "prankster". As you know...it would be pretty easy to figure out the computer from which the registration was made. Most jerks who would do such a thing would not be bright enough to "borrow" a computer...and might even have done it from their office..say at UNT. Yes, Sir, I'd still be laughing my rear end off at these scumbags. Don't need to double check...don't care. But, pray tell, why would someone do that a year ago since no breech was even anticipated at that time. A tad too late now to be very effective with that sort of childish low life action. You do, however, seem to know a lot about that site. -

hmmm. No, but thanks for playing. -
Why do Mean Green fans keep buying tickets from places other than the UNT ticket office? That just makes no sense to me at all. Now, I am sure there is a reason, but why not support our own ticket office rather than stubhub...which means you are buying from a SMU ticket holder or some random ticket broker, ticketmaster or the SMU ticket office? I want those SMU folks to "eat" the tickets they bought and are not using. I guess they couldn't even give them away, huh? Yes, yes...far better to attend and support the Mean Green no matter where you get your tickets, but why not order from UNT? Just wondering...not trying to complain because these folks are attending the game in support of the Mean Green no matter their ticket source.

Nope...how about we just sit together for a couple of games and discuss "limitations" after actually seeing them play? Or, of course, folks could just continue to opine about "limitations" based on zero game experience information and only their preconceived biases from hundreds of miles away. That's fun too, huh? -

I would say, that given the scruitny that any action touching on this subject gets today, that these guys were more than a little bit stupid. ODU can at least say that they were not living on campus property. There is that I guess. Funny, I had just read the ODU president's state of the university speech in a recent issue of the Nirfolk paper and said to myself that the guy was serious about this campus issue. Then...boom...this! Will be interesting to see what ODU can do about it. Pretty darn stupid. -

Until I see them actually play a game or two I think I'll reserve my evaluations of the limitations of the roster that Coach Benford built. So many new players on that roster it seems to me that it might be a tad tough to judge "limitations" at this point. -
Seats for women's basketball are all general admission, so you can sit pretty much anywhere you like. Hope to see you there.

Well, if you don't like divorce lawyers....stick to your wedding vows. Fairly simple. No one is cheering here...just enjoying that these folks got caught. Like I originally said...you want to cheat? Great, be honest...tell your spouse and get a divorce first. the word scumbag comes to mind when I think of cheating spouses and sites like this Ashley Madison crap. -

Oh, I definitely get that...but in this case I will make an exception. The divorce lawyers must be smelling blood! Going to be some broke folks after all this is said and done and some careers lost. Only sad part is the kids in the families of these jerks...and that would be both cheating men and women. -
Three transfer outs for Miami this offseason. What? That only happens at........oh, never mind.
-
Way to go Mean Green soccer! Good start!
-
Just buy them...they cost hardly anything. I have several conflicts as well, but the cost is so low that I bought the WBB season ticket as well. You never know, my schedule may change and I might end up being able to make more than I now think. Could happen.
-
Who the heck cares? Kid is inveigle at UNC....may not play a down at Marshall either, but Zi am sure the Thundering Herd has a forum where this is better suited for discussion.

Who knows since that OU-TU game is looming. You tell me.

And, this is one of the big time programs some here keep telling us are so wonderful and do just everything right. Man, can they ever schedule and promote...just ignore all those rapists. -
Yep...sort of looking forward to seeing what Jalie can do with this group in her first year as HC. Should be interesting. Will also be interesting to see if folks come out to support one of the Mean Green's own as HC.

Hmmmmmmm....what power you ascribe to my posts. Do they really hit home that much? Highly doubtful unless, of course, those self-wounded are of such low self-esteem that they just can't handle the retort. You are probably just hurt that some are considering skipping your high whine bitch-fest. If they don't attend who will be there to listen and politely agree with your whine? And, if there are only three of us left, I can guarantee you that we three will be having a great time supporting our Mean Green, and we won't be trying to make up excuses or blame anyone else for our decisions. Nor will we be engaging in any bitch or whine-fest. So, I guess that right there leaves you out if this happy trio. Here's a question worth pondering....If UNT90 goes on a bitch fest in the woods and no one is there to witness it, does it really make a sound?
-
Seems some of your normal die hard tailgate group is considering not attending. You guys may be the only tailgate group to get the high whine trophy for homecoming. Are you guys going to be wearing OU or UT t-shirts? Who gives a crap about Texas or OU? They both suck! Talk about trying hard to find something else to bitch about. Do you wake up every morning thinking about what you can bitch about?

I just must say how much I am loving these folks get caught with their pants down (pardon the pun) with this Ashley Madison breech. I really wish they would just publish everyone's name in the papers or on Facebook or something. Poetic justice at its best right here folks. Married? Want to have an affair? Get divorced first! Just back from Norfolk, VA and was enjoying reading the local paper discussing how many sailors names are showing up with Ashley Madison accounts after using their Navy.gov email addresses to keep this stuff away from their spouses. Navy is investigating the possibility of charges due to the inappropriate use of government computers. They are also looking in to possible consequences for those actually participating in these affairs. For military folks with security clearances having an affair opens them up to potential blackmail and is a potential security risk. Some careers along with more than a few marriages may be deep sixed over this. But, I must say that I am seriously enjoying seeing all these cheating scumbags being exposed in their affairs. My opinion, of course, others are free to see it any way they choose.

This whole thing seems to have hit a nerve with you. No one even brought up the "bad fan" concept, but you. And you do seem to over react to anyone else posting a concept other than the one you stated regarding the UT-OU game. Chill...no one is calling anyone a "bad fan". But, there are levels of "fandom", and anyone who would choose to attend or watch UT-OU on TV in lieu of attending UNT's homecoming game is certainly not a solid fan of UNT. That does NOT make anyone a bad fan! It is a personal decision....if some random school's game is more important than one's own school's homecoming game, then pray tell, how can that person rightly claim to be an ardent UNT fan? Either way is fine...UNT needs all the fans it can get, rabid, dedicated, true green, t-shirt, occasional or a fan qualified by who UNT is playing. All are good. No need to get defensive about it. Just is what it is....show up when you want. Butts in seats are always welcome. Not sure what good it does to rag on the "home team" about the schedule and loudly proclaim why one won't be attending, but if that provides rationalization for not attending, cool. No problem. We'll see these folks whenever they feel like showing up. It's all good...it's college football, tailgating and great fall atmosphere. This new GMG.com update is killing me....I try to reply to UNT90 and it ends up as a UNT90 post in my reply to KingDL. This is just crazy....still lots of bug using the I-pad with this new update...just crazy. And, once it happens I can't fix it! Sorry all, for the confusion....my bad!
