  1. Why? The usual suspects would just come on here and complain about the job the folks in athletics, led by RV, did in acquiring the donations to make this happen. And, the great job they did in deciding to move the facility to a different location in order to capitalize on a much better situation for UNT and its golf teams. And, of course, they would bad mouth the so-called "17" who are collectively and individually helping so much with programs and facilities these days. Just FYI...this will be a fantastic facility for our golf program and will be a big boost for recruiting.
  2. What a concept....positive attitude and hard work! Amazing how those two so often are included in a successful person's resume.
  3. As much as it might seem odd that I would agree with Cerebus on much of anything, he is definitely spot on with the above comment. I think people would be very...very...surprised and some might even be shocked at the interest in this HC position, and in some if the names who have contacted RV expressing interest in the position. Yep...even some who the "experts" here have announced as "never wanting to come here." How it all plays out regarding coaching philosophy, salary demands, contract length, assistant coaches, etc., etc. is anyone's guess at this point. But, for anyone to even think that there is not a lot of interest in this job would be very foolish. As Mac liked to say on many an occasion...there are only 128 of these jobs in the country. Silly how some folks disrespect their own university by thinking this guy or that guy "would never want to come here."
  4. Just FYI...that talk would be wrong.
  5. Just for everyone... It is "Neal" not "Neil. Perhaps it is autocorrect, but we do need to get the UNT President's name correct.
  6. They both have other duties on game days. But, both have, in fact, visited the Alumni Pavilion. In fact, Dr. Smatresk has stated on more than one occasion that he would like to see it used more often and that he would love to attend more activities at the Alumni Pavilion. He sees it as a big asset to the University and its alumni. And, I believe it is "Neal" not "Neil".
  7. Ha Ha! Funny. Kram the gardener was out trimming shrubs, weeding and mowing the grass today.
  8. I see what you did there...... Hey, here's an idea....these same banner guys...anonymous of course....should set up a banner to fly over the Super Pit for the first home basketball game.
  9. As a true freshman, Brice has some "learning to do" going against seasoned D1 veterans, but I do think he oops bigger than when I last saw him and showed the ability to redirect shots in the lane. How much he will or will not contribute is certainly anyone's guess at this point, but I do think he has a chance to see some decent minutes this a season...if for no other reason than to clog up the lane a bit. Agree...he sure seems to be having fun.
  10. Now, that was fun! Ladies played a bit...a bit more defense than the men who seemed to be into the NBA All-Star game style of defense. Dunk-fest by the men. I will say that Rickey Brice looked like he has filled out a bit and did alter several shots in the lane. DeAndre Harris was shooting the three "lights out", and young Mr. Combs is definitely the real deal. Both Ja'Michael Brown and Deckie Johnson may just be lots of fun to watch. Missed seeing J-Mychal Reese play, but was assured that his injury is very minor and will be no problem. Ladies were shooting the ball well and their passes seemed to be much crisper. Did not see Terra Ellison or Taylor Roof due to injuries. These ladies might just be surprising a few folks and will definitely be a reflection of their coach. They'll be working hard. Some really great student dance teams performed tonight. I hope we see some back for half-times this year. Soooooo much better than the Little Dribblers! Three point contest and dunk contests ended the night....Jeremy Combs is our repeat dunk champion. Free hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, chips, candy, drinks, t-shirts and other goodies passed out tonight to all attendees. Really nice student turnout...I am guessing more like 1500 students...maybe 500 "regulars", but lots of "regulars" we're probably stopped by the rain. It was pouring at the Super Pit (outside of course) right at tip-off. New lighting looked good, and I was told there is still some adjusting to be done. No tables on the side where the floor seats are located. Don't know how that will work or if the tables return for the season. All in all...really fun evening at the Super Pit. Oh, forgot to add...the great George Odufawa was in the house and served as one of the slam dunk contest along with a couple of long time fans and donors. Really enjoyed watching George Odufawa play...gave it all he had every minute of every game he played. Here's wishing him continued success.
  11. Why? Does he not have the same opportunity as those in support of the banner and the anti-RV crowd?
  12. I would be down to ref. I could do center or line...no problem if we went with a three man crew. Or, if only two volunteered we could run the two man diagonal halves.
  13. Where...what station?
  14. PM on the way! Big difference between being called a "used car salesman" and being "despised" by a bunch of D1 HC's. Lot's of AD's are pretty much like "used car salesmen". They are selling a program. And they are always going to put a positive spin on it even if the "car" has a few mechanical problems and dents.
  15. The situation you discuss was probably done anonymously. You are right, people who do such things anonymously usually do "shitty" things (just using your word here...not one I find appropriate in public forums).. Yep...utterly loathsome. Sort of like calling for someone's firing anonymously, huh? Again....if those you discuss hiding their activities from their employers because they fear repurcussions, might want to consider changing their behavior or changing their employer. Why do things that might cost your job? Pretty stupid. If you won't do something openly, don't do it at all. Seems pretty simple to me. By hiding, they are admitting that they know they are doing something wrong. My how folks stretch so hard to justify poor decisions and unprofessional behavior.
  16. You brought up the "given their employment" thing. I just put it in a UNT context for you. Go back and read your post...you brought up the employment angle. And, again....if you think you should not use your real name due to employment considerations, perhaps you should not do it at all. Thought I made that point perfectly clear. Look, I have said all I need to say on this subject..my position is clear. You have your position, I have mine...like I said, no one is changing their mind. Probably time to move on.
  17. Yep...they should. Not man enough to use your own name...then keep your comments private. You lose that right when you go public in public forums. Man up or shut up. Anyone who criticizes the institution or their institutions's personnel when they draw their paycheck should shut up or resign. Plenty of internal and confidential avenues to get your point across without bringing shame upon yourself and the institution that provides your paycheck. Like you were told, or should have been told, as a child....if you wouldn't say it in front of your mama, don't say it! People who do such things anonymously should be completely ignored and considered to be the small person they are demonstrating that they are by their need to be secretive. Own it people...or don't do it! If this hits too close to home for some folks, so be it. You can rate my posts anyway you wish if it makes you feel better, but man up to your own comments, actions and things you say you stand for. Character counts...you have it or you don't. One knows by your actions. So, I guess I've pretty much said all I need to say on this topic. No need to beat a dead horse. Call me old school or whatever you like, but that's my take and I am staying with that position. Everyone else is welcome to their own opinions on the matter. My opinion...your opinion...won't change anyone's opinion. Sources from that "fraternity world of D1 coaches" please. There are, what, 128 of them as head coaches and many more times that as assistants. How many have you talked with about RV? Or, is this just more made up poop to please the haters? Snopes is waiting. Statements such as this need to be backed up with proof and names. Pretty strong statement to throw out there without any references that can be verified. Hey, I don't know if this is correct or not. You say it is...I am just looking for references or is this going to be another anonymous thing?
  18. Thank you James. Appreciate your support. It is exactly what I received as well shortly after my renewal donation. A letter of thanks should follow within a short period of time. I believe mine this year was signed by John Nitardy.
  19. Who said it mattered to RV? It should matter the most to you. Stand up openly for what you believe in or don't stand at all.
  20. You don't know my name? I have used it here often and others have used it often as well....where have you been? I am more than open about it...Mark (Kram is simply Mark spelled backwards) Miller. Yours? Since, of course, you have decided to come out of the shadows and man up a bit. Congrats on having the gonads to go public even if it was after a "discussion" about hiding and all. I can respect that you finally decided it was worthy of sunlight.
  21. Why would I confront anyone? Not the way I handle things...just because we disagree on things doesn't mean one should be "confronted". But, if I ever did any such thing it would be in the open and not hiding behind an avatar or alias. Heck, I have even invited folks over for a chat...they rarely do since they prefer to stay hidden I guess. If you aren't man enough to be public with your beliefs, it pretty much says all most folks need to know.
  22. Yea...I think folks have a pretty darn good idea who it is. Just interesting that he chose to hide behind an alias. If one has to hide to do something, it seems to me one might reconsider what they are doing. Be proud of your actions...and proud enough to be public with it...or don't do it. At least you understand that and walk the walk. I abhor this action, but respect that you are man enough to be public with what you are doing.
  23. It's how such folks work. They hide. I respect those who list their names. They are at least willing to back up their talk and actions publicly. The others, well...... While I absolutely abhor what UNT90 is up to, he is at least willing to do it in the open and not hide behind some avatar on a website or on his GoFundMe site. I can respect that, just not the action. Anyone ever heard of that "Lewis" guy with the $500 donation? I am guessing that it is an alias as he is not listed in the current program as a MG Club donor. But, I do realize several donors missed the renewal date for program inclusion, so perhaps ""Lewis" is a real name and a donor. Just color me skeptical.
  24. Decent crowd...front room and back room fairly full. Lots of the "regulars" and a good many new faces as well.
