The good folks at Rudy's are giving away free tickets to the Texas Legands basketball game against Los Angeles on Dec. 26th as part of their Appreciation Night. They are providing free tickets for all of their "family, friends and guests". I received an email this morning from Rudy's about the free tickets. I assume you can go to their website to find out about the tickets if you are interested, or perhaps just give them a call. Really nice of Rudy's to do this...great BBQ and great folks operating this community friendly restaurant. These games are fun..life you are looking for something to do with the family the day after Christmas....well, check this free offer out. These games are big time fun. Thanks to the ownership and management and employees of Rudy's for supporting our community and for being a great partner to the Mean Green. You guys are simply some of the best.

Not the entire fan base. Some see the negativity for what it is and move along. The problem is that it has "poisoned" a lot of folks from posting on GMG.Com who no longer feel GMG.Com is an "open" forum. The days of "discussions" are gone. Now we see personal attacks by certain people on a regular basis whenever some folks post anything...even positive comments, and we see the negative folks finding something wrong with every single thing UNT does. How anyone can find something negative in the hiring of Coach Littrell is just an example of how hard they try to be negative. Don't let it get you down. In no way do these negative folks represent the majority of the fan base. The fan base may be disappointed and down based on recent on-field and on-court performance, but the majority still support the Mean Green, and see plenty to be positive about in its future. Hang in there. What these negative folks want is to bring everyone else down to their level. You know how that works, you see it at your place of employment, in our schools, churches and neighborhoods. There always seem to be "those people" who are grumpy and see the glass half empty all the time and they love trying to convince others that they are correct in their negativity. They are the folks people avoid at the Christmas party because even then they find something to complain about. See it for what it is, consider the source and let it go. Don't let these folks spoil the party. No offense taken. You will find no video, of course. You can believe it or not. I trust my source as this individual has been spot on with each and every little bit of information provided me throughout the course of this hire...from the day Coach Mac was relieved of his duties. Besides, like you said, "he seems like just what the doctor ordered." Thanks for disagreeing with me in a respectful manner....it is just a message board after all.

We have added some new players in curtisdaa, unttau, Vince and Harry! Great news....really appreciate these guys stepping up to support our Cheer Team. Also...we have our two coaches....Andrew and his squad will square off against Harry and his team this year. Both are experienced coaches, so we should be in good shape coaching-wise. Things are beginning to shape up nicely for our event this year. And it is OUR event. Can't do it without everyone else. Many thanks....lots of room for players, volunteers, referees, etc. just let me know.

Find it yourself. I told you what went down.

It is a fact, Ben. He was offered a higher salary...a good bit higher. He asked that it be used for his assistants. I realize it is hard for you to believe any decent news regarding UNT, but it is what it is, and that is what happened. There just might be a Santa after all as far as his assistants are concerned.
-
That is exactly what he did. He wanted higher pay for his assistants, so he took less. Says a lot about the character of the man to me. Way to go Coach Littrell.

Lady Mean Green Defeat Incarnate Word 62-55
KRAM1 replied to UNTFan23's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Already matched last year's season win total of five. This team is fun to watch and worthy of support. I hope a few more fans will come out to watch these ladies play. They keep it exciting and play hard. Congrats to Jalie and company! Oh, and just check out the talent sitting at the end of the bench looking forward to playing next year. Folks, it is time to get behind this team. Hope to see a few more at the Super Pit soon. -
Let me make this 100% clear to everyone. For the last time..YOU WERE NOT PART of any conversation I had with anyone regarding Kenny Lyons. I have NEVER EVER mentioned KENNY'S name to any individual associated in an official capacity with UNT! No one...ever! In fact, I don't care enough about it to do so...period! Let me state it again for you..... I have NEVER EVER SPOKEN TO ANY OFFICIAL at UNT ...ATHLETIC OR OTHERWISE... ABOUT KEN LYONS in any capacity. None...never! How that in any way is a problem for you I don't understand. I, by the way, am wearing a sweater vest right now as I type this...have worn them for years...why is that a problem for you? I have UNT, Masters and Torry Pines sweater vests and will probably pick upt a new one or two for Christmas. Almost bought an Okie State one recently but passed on that one. Would you like photos when I get them? I play golf..lots of golfers enjoy sweater vests on cool days. So? Why do you care what I wear so much? Seems odd for a male to be fixated so much on what another male wears. Unless, of course......Heck, some like to wear big hats to football games, right? This will be the last I post regarding this stupid situation. You were not there. It is time for you to let it go.
-
And everyone is aware of exactly what you are. Again...you were not there, you have no clue what you are talking about, so why don't you just give it a rest? You are making a bigger fool of yourself with each comment. Why so jealous of my Ulys Knight award? You seem to be fixated on whatever I do in support of UNT while you do not attend, you are no longer a member of the Mean Green Club nor Alumni Association, right? Why do you even care? Kenny and I had a nice chat yesterday. If your poison had an any effect on him, he certainly didn't reflect any. He's smart enough to be able to see who is there supporting UNT and who isn't. He even stopped by on the way out after the game to chat a bit more. How about giving it a rest? Your ignorance of the matter is embarrassing for you.

Sort of hit a wall here folks....could use a bit of a jump start....we need players and a few more donations to hit that $3,000 goal. It is a great time to commit to play and to pay your $30 registration fee through the GoFundMe site. Easy and a great way to give the event goal a bit of a boost. Also...we are still looking for a referee or two and some silent auction items. Just post in the main game thread, on here or send me a PM if you can help out. Remember...even $5.00 helps a bunch toward the goal. Hey, it's the holidays, help these student-athletes out. Let them know you recognize the hard work they do in support of UNT. Thanks to all who have contributed, signed up to play, signed on as sponsors, provided silent auction items and who will do so in the coming days.

just adding season ticket holders to the count as usual. Not near 2,180 actual bodies, but actually more than I expected. Especially since DISD messed up the date. We are not the only school who does one of these early games. As I stated earlier, ODU had about 8,000...mostly Norfolk ISD kids in attendance for a 10:30am tip-off game this season already. Some kids did show for this one, and were loud as usual, and seemed to have a great time. Hopefully, next year the DISD folks will be back in full force. My guess...and I am bad at crowd estimation mind you....about 600. Maybe Army of Dad and Army of Mom, who also attended, could give you a guess as well. We did have Kenny Lyons "coaching" from behind the UNT bench throuhout the game, which did add a bit of fun. It was his first game of the year...free admission day. Several of us miss seeing him "coach" now that SUMG no longer attends and provides him tickets. At one point he was really "coaching up" Ricky Brice, who probably wondered who the guy was. Benford probably had to clue all the new guys in on who that big guy "coaching" throughout the game was. Too bad Kenny doesn't have more of a role to play with the team these days. I wonder if the "Mailman" remembers the day that Lyons "schooled" him on the court? Greatness right there folks and a reason why Kenny is in the UNT HOF.
-
It is my understanding that DISD messed up the date for this game on their school district calendar, so DISD students will not be present. Thanks DISD superintendent! Ha! Just using a play off a common theme here these day. So, free admission makes a lot of sense. Maybe a few more folks attend and maybe a few more concessions purchased, etc. Hopefully, some of the surrounding school districts are still set to attend. Who knows. ODU did this recently with, I believe, a 10:30 am tip-off. Had over 8000, mostly Norfolk ISD kids, in attendance (free admission). You think that place was loud?

Excellent! Appreciate it. Got you down for a large!

Folks...we sit at $2105.00 toward our goal of $3000.00. Sooooooo close, yet we are seeing few new donations at this point. This is a great cause that benefits a group of student-athletes that we all see at every UNT athletic event and around the community. These students donate their time and often their own limited funds to support UNT Cheer activities. They could use your help and support. Any level...any amount helps more than mostvrealize. So, please give this event some thought. How can you help? Several ways... Make a donation to the team through the GoFundMe site, Sign up to play in the game on the 27th of February, Donate an item for the silent auction, Come to the game and support the event...bid on some silent auction items, and/or Volunteer to referee or work the event. Just let us know what you are willing to do to help. The Cheer Team needs you!

Remember....we will hold a "live" player draft this year. To be held at Eastside on Saturday, February 6th at noon. All welcome to watch our coaches pick their teams this year. After which we will depart for the UNT men's basketball game at the Super Pit that tips off at 3:00pm. Come join us! It will be fun and we will be paying back our sponsor a bit by purchasing a beer or two while we enjoy the player draft. Come cheer or jeer the coaches as they select their teams.

Fantastic! Great to hear...referee or player this year? T-shirt size? Appreciate you.

Am out of the country with limited connection so just now saw this. Terrible news. My thoughts and prayers are with this family in their time of sorrow. As hard as it must be, remember the good times and take comfort in the fact that she knew she was loved and that you know you were loved. May God grant this family peace.

Just because we can't doesn't give a potential NCAA team "cover" for poor attendance. If it were the reverse, UNT students would be packing the Pit. They have in the past, they will again!

I, too, attended the UTA game last night. What I came away with was a real respect for that UTA team. They move the ball extremely well and do very little "standing around". Some of their passes were incredible and the players all seemed to be looking for those type of passes. They have a couple of players who seem to have NBA potential and actually played that way. Combs seemed to be frustrated the entire game as the UTA defense collapsed on him...and every UNT player, coming into the lane. I cannot recall so many blocks, misdirected or just flat missed shots in the laneby UNT in some time. We made one nice run in the first half to come back from a rather large deficit, but only got close. Then UTA went back to work and built a 10 point half-time lead. Pretty much over from that point on out. Interesting who sat and who plated for UNT. I assumed it was because we needed quicker players to match UTA's quickness. UTA played as a team....UNT needs to learn to do the same thing. Now, about that arena....yes, nice, but my very first thought upon entering the seats/court area was that I was back in Hot Springs for the Sunbelt Tournament. While it looks very nice and is a tremendous upgrade over "the stage", I just was not that impressed. Seats are flimsy plastic and seemed to be set very close together. One plus were the handrails going up/down the row stairs. The Super Pit really needs those. There were not nearly enough concession stands and those open were super slow. They do sell beer and you take the can into the seating area...no plastic cups here. I guess they figure no one will toss the cans onto the court. Restroom facilities I saw were nice and clean and parking was free in the multiple level garage. As to their crowd...nice, but nothing to write home about. We met a couple of UTA grads at J. Gilligan's on Abram St. Where we met up before the game for burgers and beer. These two said that UTA had made a big deal out of the game and discounted tickets and promised everyone a t-shirt after the game ( got two...there were bank t-shirts or something like that-left them there). They said the parking garages would be packed and 5000 were expected. Well, the parking garages were not full 30 min. before game time when we arrived and no where near 5000 made it into that arena. But, still, it was loud and the UTA fans were definitely into the game. That UTA team is darn good! We got beat by a superior team last night...man for man they matched up against our guys and pretty much beat them time and time again. They appear to be well coached and UTA seems to have their coach, but how long he will stay if UTA makes a run this year is anybody's guess. I saw a earlier estimate by UNTFan23 that we had about 100 fans in attendance. I would guess that was about right...included in that crowd were Willie Davis and Bill Miller...two of UNT's greats! All things considered, not a bad turnout on a weeknight by the UNT faithful, but I recall days when we ventured over to watch games played on the stage where many times that number of UNT fans made the trek. Sign of the times I guess. Too bad. Also...let me say this...very poor student turnout by UTA to watch a team that has NCAA Tournament potential and who is coming off wins over Ohio State, Memphis and who took UT to overtime before losing a close one. That surprised me.

For some guy called Silent Eagle you sure do talk a lot. HeHe!

Fear not and fret not Mean Green faithful. You are about to be rewarded for your wait.

I will just have to forgive him for that ZeroU decision he made back in the folly days of his youth. I am sure he has learned from his mistake by now. So, let's all forgive this minor youthful indiscretion. He's probably a man now like that current coach who resides a bit north of Norman these days. :-)

Another Mass Shooting
KRAM1 replied to meanJewGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Appears that the police have apprehended the gunmen and that some or all of the gunmen may have died in a gun battle with police.
