  1. Yep....bringing back some Mean Green memories, drex.
  2. At least the guy who started this thread showed up for the game. Seems, however, it just gave our broken record Complainer in Chief another reason to post a complaint about something he doesn't care about and doesn't follow. Maybe someone can send him a UTA t-shirt.
  3. Yep...yep there are...only folks that seem to think they are perfect or who are just looking for something to criticize would see this as anything more than it was...a simple oops by the person running the video board today. But, if you want...go ahead, and crucify them for the oops. I am sure that will make it all better.
  4. So much fun watching this team play. Exciting win by the ladies today. These ladies have earned the right to be playing before larger crowds. Too bad more students and Mean Green fans are not showing up.
  5. Nothing really...the young lady running the video board put up a promo graphic for the Jan. 30 th game against Rice, but listed the game day as Feb. 30th. It was pretty funny...even though most people in our section did not even notice it until we stared tucking it up about it. You know...like really, Feb. 30th....there are not 30 days in Feb. the last I checked. The young lady just put in the wrong month. Really no biggie, just a boo boo by the young lady running the video board today. Too bad it happened for sure, but not earth shattering. Most folks there know the schedule anyway, plus it was another great comeback win by Jalie and company.
  6. Yep...all administrative stuff...as you indicate here as well.
  7. Understand, but your words were more than a little harsh. His position under those two other head coaches was director of football operations. The guy who coordinates and oversees the logistics of football team travel, meals, equipment and many other operational functions...with pretty much zero on-field responsibilities is the last person worthy of disdain regarding on-field performance of the teams. You are aware that Tommy Perry was retained as well? In my opinion, this actual on-field coach was another good retention by Coach L. Anyway, glad you like Scotty personally. He is a very good man. I think a perfect fit for the duties he will now perform.
  8. Absolutely correct! I am really pleased that Scotty was retained. He has done a great job for UNT and, indeed does, have the respect of many of the area's and state's HS coaches. To speak ill of this man is to show your ignorance. Coach L and Company are going to be known in the offices of HS coaches...Scotty will be part of that change in the way UNT coaches operate. This old crap that UNT coaches are never seen by local coaches is going to change under Coach L.
  9. YEP...true statement.
  10. SPRING GAME...APRIL 23rd...2pm "kick-off". Game will be preceded by a 5K run event and, of course, the HOF breakfast/brunch/lunch event.
  11. All this talk about this school is better...that department is better..UNT is seen as a school for the poor kids and those who cannot get in elsewhere is just all a bunch of bologna. It is "individual" centered and usually coming from folks with an axe to grind for some reason or another. In my 40+ years in the financial services industry I never once heard anyone dismiss my UNT degrees nor speak unkindly toward UNT. And that goes from my days of original interviews to get my foot into the financial services area fields, to my days as a bank president before Texas went to branch banking, my days as a Regional Manager for a top tier bank, to my days working for Smith-Barney in the High Net Worth program to my final years as a CFO for a non-profit think tank. NOT ONCE! And, through most of my career I was hiring UNT grads and others and supervising employees with degrees from such "enlightened universities" as Harvard, Yale, UCLA, Stanford, and lots of what folks consider top tier universities. All with my UNT degrees. Folks...it is not WHERE you get your degree...it is what you do with it once you get it! PERIOD! If you are embarrassed by what you hear from these folks...stand up to them...but better yet, let it go because they have absolutely ZERO clue what they are talking about. They are displaying their ignorance front and center. If you have had challenges simply because you have a degree from UNT, do something about it because it probably is not "just" because you have a degree from UNT. UNT is a widely recognized quality university that turns out graduates qualified to enter their chosen careers. In fact, as some here have noted, degrees from UNT in some programs get one a "leg up" on the competition. True story...in our Alumni Association board meeting today, one of our members related a story of how she decided to drop out of a Big XII institution because everyone in her chosen field told het that if she wanted to work in that field she needed a degree from UNT and not the university she was presently attending. No one she talked with was bashing UNT! She transferred to UNT, graduated and has never looked back...quit successful in her career field by the way. She cannot sing the praises of UNT any more than she does to all that will listen. Oh, and it had nothing to do with any won/loss record of any of our athletic teams. If anyone is ever "embarrassed" about their degree from UNT, they need to look in the mirror and see squarely where the problem lies. One is embarrassed ONLY if they allow them selves to be embarrassed or have done something to be embarrassed about. Usually, neither of those cases apply to this discussion. And, to add...I have advanced degrees from two other universities as well as my two degrees from UNT. It is my MBA from UNT that opened the doors to me and allowed me to prove that I was as capable or more so than anyone else with any degree from anywhere else. PERIOD. YOU control your destiny and your attitude. The decisions and choices you make are yours. UNT has provided you with the foundation...and a darn good one...you have to build the rest. Who cares what some kid says about his choice of universities...the kid will probably end up right back at UNT once he grows up a little. Who cares what it costs? In fact I am proud to tell folks about the quality of education they can receive at UNT at a fair cost, and how they can graduate with zero or smaller college loan debts. If they want to tease me about our athletic record...so be it. I take it in good fun and I dish it right back at them. Every school has something you can "jab 'em with". Get over it! If they are your friends you know it is in fun, if you don't actually know them...who cares what thery think? We have 38,000 students on campus...that speaks volumes about what people think of UNT. BE PROUD...BE GREEN! If folks know they cannot "get your goat" by talking bad about UNT, they will stop...well, most will...there is always "that guy" aropund, right? OK, off the soap box, but give this a rest folks...look around at YOUR UNIVERSITY...there are many many many reasons to be proud of being an member of the great MEAN GREEN FAMILY.
  12. Never heard that word before. Thanks...learning something new every day. Now I understand why they may have been shut out of that "Crowley" thing...pesky liquor laws ruining people's fun. Bummer!
  13. Selling growlers at the Denton location I do believe...according to Thor. I'll be heading down soon with my growler...hopefully.
  14. Too much talent? Hmmmmm.
  15. And yet...here you are...one of the few posts in the thread. But, you have lost interest, right?
  16. Exactly..but this comes up every year.
  17. Where many in attendance will not remember it at all....see earlier post from an attendee. It is not the University's job to expend resources where you, me or anyone else think they should in order to expand the brand. They get to decide that...personally, I think The New University in Frisco is doing a pretty good job of expanding the brand in Collin County. Resources much better spent than on a parade float in my opinion. If you really want to expand the brand that is...but, that is just my opinion. You are definitely welcome to yours. You reconsidering helping to expand the brand by heading up the St. patty's Day Parade Committee? I'll be a good worker bee under your command and won't tell you what you should do even though I am actually volunteering to help. What ya say?
  18. Well, Ben, it isn't. But, neither is it the responsibility for others to do things other people think they should when those other people are not willing to step up and help. Nor is it the responsibility of any department within the University just because someone thinks it is a good idea for them to expend resources on. But, seems lots of folks here think someone else should do this...just checking to see if some of those folks might be willing to step up and help bring their great idea to fruition. I find this all the time in the several volunteer areas where I participate. There are always those folks who want to tell us what and how to do things, but when we invite them to actually volunteer to help do what they want us to do that they often are never heard from again. Lots of talk...no action. You know...all hat no cattle. I will reiterate again...I am willing to help as a volunteer...just don't have the time to head this one up. My parents told me to not tell other people what to do unless I am willing to help make that happen. Seems appropriate here as well. I am willing to help. Who else is? Maybe NTAlum09 will step up to head this project.
  19. OK, so Ben was all good as long as someone else did the work and spent the cash. Check. Got it. Hopefully, one of the others thinking this is a great idea will step up to lead. Just PM me with the meeting details and I'll be there. Who else will join me and volunteer to help the committee chairman make this happen? We just need one of those guys championing this idea to step up and volunteer to lead.
  20. Sure deal..no problem. You are really good at avoiding the real question however. And, no one drove you away or anyone else... personal decision...at least take responsibility for your own decisions.
  21. I nominate greenjoe, gangrene, Ben Gooding and 97and03 to form a committee and head up the effort to get UNT a float in the Greenville Avenue Parade. You guys shouldn't have to do much work and it shouldn't take much time, right? Just let me know when and where the committee meets so I can volunteer to help you guys. Happy to help, but can't head it up and will be out of the country on St Paddy's Day parade date, so can't be much help on "game day", but can help before that time. I'll wait for the call, text or email letting me know who will be chairing the committee and whe rebounds/when the first meeting will be. We better hurry as it is getting a tad late to get the application in with the required fees and decide what level of float and how that float will be acquired. Who will be our fearless leader here? Greenjoe? Gangrene? Ben Gooding? 97and03?
  22. Yes, I know....so, why are you are on here discussing individual players, games, etc., etc. on a continuous basis...since you "have no interest". If you don't follow the team, on what level and how do you have any knowledge of the team and its players to post, often multiple times a day, about the team? Just seems odd for someone who "doesn't follow the team" and has "lost interest" to be so interested in posting about and discussing that team, it's coaches and players on such a continuous basis.
  23. Well, if you have lost interest as you say you have. I think you protest too much...your actions speak louder than your words here regarding any "lost interest". When most folks lose interest in stuff they stop doing it...you seem to have increased your following of the team...just from afar. Perhaps you might want to just be honest and admit you still follow the team. You certainly have not "gone away". And, as far as I know, no one has suggested you should...or that anyone else should. Seems to be a self-inflicted wound to me. Your call. Just why not be honest about it? No shame in that.
  24. If you have "lost interest" as you state you have, why do you keep following the team, commenting on games which you have watched or listened to or read about and continuously post here in the basketball forum about the team? Seems really odd for a person who claims to have "lost interest".
