Going to be a tough one for the Mean Green. To have a chance at stopping this high scoring La Tech team, the Mean Green needs to play defense with the intensity it did against Southern Miss on Thursday night. Without that, it is going to be a long afternoon for the Mean Green...with it, the Mean Green is in the hunt for another home win. Can they? Will they? Here is hoping so. Go Mean Green! But, first...folks come by East Side in Denton starting at noon for the Cheer Scholarship basketball live draft party. With a bunch of Mean Green folks there it will be a bunch of fun. Hope to see some of you folks in attendance before the game...and, remember, I have thirty tickets to today's game to hand out to attendees on a first come-first served basis!

Excellent. Thank you. Got you down. note:. I have no idea why someone would give you a -1 for your response, but I gave you a +1 to take care of it. Really appreciate your support.

BUMP...the draft is tomorrow folks...starting at noon with a coin toss to see which coach gets the first pick in the draft. Come on out to EAST SIDE in Denton tomorrow (2/6) at noon and join in the fun. And, of course, to support our generous sponsors, Oak Street and East Side. Also...remember...I will have 30...well, now 32...tickets available on a first come first served basis to those attendees who would like to also attend the men's basketball game against Louisiana Tech that tips off at 3PM in the Super Pit. If you have not seen the upgrades to the Suiper Pit, here is your chance to do so without having to purchase a ticket. And, remember, they now sell beer at the Super Pit...just saying...THOR!

MGB: Key recruit Curtis Hollis has decommitted from UNT
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Hmmmm...odd this happened about the same time UNT announced the addition of Keith Frazier. -
Hmmmmmmm...not this time.

There goes whatever defense Richmond had last year! Yikes!

Thanks to Rob McKinney and the Low T Centers, we now have two Dallas Cowboy autographed footballs for our silent auction. I had already mentioned that we will have a Jay Novacek autographed ball on hand, but we now also have a ball autographed by NFL Hall of Fame member Tony Dorsett. Thanks so much, Rob. Your support for this event is very much appreciated. Folks, get your bidding numbers ready....these are a couple of great items any local sports fan will really enjoy owning!

Seriously? Did you attend our home games in the past against service academies? Darn good crowds for the most part and the local military folks always turn out. The last game we hosted against Navy had a great Navy following, as did the Army folks turn out for that game. I would like nothing better than to have a home game against Navy, Army or Air Force every single year from now on out. Great pagentry, often very competitive and well attended.

Anyone notice anything about this thread?

OK...so, explain please. I guess I am not following this one.

Wow! What a great turnout for the event tonight and the "feel" was very positive. One attendee estimated 1000 in attendance. While that may be high, the place was really full. There were appetizer stations set up around the room and two cash bar areas. I think that worked well to give more room in the middle of the room and kept folks from just hanging around a big buffet table in the middle of the room. The TV's were showing recruit highlights, and the coaches were available to meet and greet. Coach Littrell spoke and introduced his staff...at one point his young daughter wondered up on the stage...maybe about 2-3 years old ... Followed shortly by her older brother about 5 years old. I loved that and it was great to have his family with us as well tonight. Dr. Smatresk, Dr. Wolf, Dr. McCoy, Elizabeth With, Rob McInterf and Provost Graves were in attendance as well as Coach Benford and several of his players along with new addition Keith Frazier. I thought it was great to see the support from the basketball team and the university administration. I am sure I left out some folks, so others who attended might fill in the blanks. Coach Littrell did not review the signees other than to comment on the class as a whole. So, like advertised, this was not the type of signing day event we have seen in the past. I did notice from both the press conference and tonight's event that Coach Littrell does not seem 100% comfortable, in my opinion, behind a microphone as yet. I will bet this changes pretty quickly as he does more and more of these type of events. Overall, a fun event. There were lots of fellow GMG.Com posters in attendance as well. Mean Green Club and Athletic Department personnel were there selling season tickets and working Mean Green Club renewals and new memberships. Fun chatting with everyone. Hopefully, others in attendance can fill in additional info on the event.

That would be great, but our oats could do about as well just pulling names out of a hat. Ha! would be great to have CornWallace with us...thanks.
-
Sure...did a press conference too...how did you miss it? There is a list of players in this thread I believe. I will have a sheet at the draft for you. Remember UNT90 is on IR and won't be playing.

UPDATE: I have just been informed that there is a decent possibility that we will have a couple of uniformed UNT Cheer team members with us for our live draft this Saturday. That's really extra effort for them as they have a game at 3pm that same afternoon. Hopefully, we will have a nice turnout in support of our sponsors, East Side and Oak Street, and to show the Cheer Team members that we support what they do as well. No promises on the Cheer members being able to make it, but they are trying to arrange some schedules to make it work. Remember, you don't have to be playing in the game on the 27th to attend this event. The more who attend the more fun it will be. Come on to East Side Saturday at noon and enjoy some draft day fun. Also, remember, I will have 30 or so tickets to give away to those attending ...on a first come first served basis...to the 3pm men's basketball game against La Tech.

Oh...big goof...YES, FEB 27th. I will edit my post. Thanks for the catch.
-
I do wish he would give it a shot. He is a great guy, and probably has a bit if game in him. But, like forevereagle said...he probably just doesn't want to. No problem, not everyone enjoys such things. No foul there.
-
As stated....recruiting still goes on...even in the so-called dead period. It is only "dead" for face-to-face visits. Lots of other communication methods. Am sure Coach knows this and will use his remaining time appropriately.
-
Thanks so much...keeping fingers crossed.
-
Really? OK...so if we have a full 25 or close to it, it is only because we are breaking the rules? Got it. It is, however, very possible that he has them "in hand" but has not announced and will not until signing day, right? And what rule is he breaking if he picks a few more up between today and tomorrow if that's when a kid decides? Perhaps you are quibbling with my use of "signed" instead of committed? Of course, a source can be wrong, but it is positive news to me even if we get close to 25.
-
Man, you really are bummed...you quoted it twice. Ha! Understand completely. A 5pm start time makes it pretty tough for some folks to attend. Some folks can take off a bit early...some definitely cannot. Some are local so it helps...others not so much.

Soccer Now Pretty Mainstream
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Agree. But, I would wager that today a ton more kids play soccer than hockey in the US and that the trend for MLS average attendance figures is a nice upward slope on a graph of attendance. -
I was recently told that Coach Harrell is really high on the kid out of Oklahoma, Mason Fine, and really wants the kid at UNT as a QB. Will be interesting to see how this develops. Also...was told that Coach Littrell still expects to sign a few more players before the deadline...maybe up to the full 25. We could be in store for a pleasant surprise or two if a couple of things fall UNT's way before the deadline. We will know come Wednesday, and get to hear about it from the coaching staff on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd from 5-7pm at Apogee's Hub Club room. Here's hoping for a big turn out to meet and greet our new coaching staff, and to find a bit out about the UNT recruiting class of 2016!

BUMP...time is drawing closer for the live draft Saturday at East Side at Noon. I do have the 30 tickets to the men's game that tips off at 3pm after our draft. I will be giving the tickets away on a first come first served basis at the live draft. So, come by and watch the draft, grab a great brew or two and then head over to watch the Mean Green take on Louisiana Tech at 3PM in the Super Pit! REMEMBER: Final sign-up deadline to play in this year's game is FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5th.
