  1. George has attended each home game, still has multiple Club Seat tickets, makes his Mean Green Club donations, serves with me on the College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board and has attended the Tuesday Coach Littrell Radio Shows. I think your question has pretty much been answered regarding his acceptance of the future of UNT Athletics. And, as yet, I have not heard him mention anything regarding the fact that Hank was not selected as our new AD. He remains very passionate about UNT and not just UNT Athletics. from what I have seen.
  2. I have to say...I am very impressed with this classy post. Thank you Sir! The past is the past...no harm no foul. Let's just hope others as well see the positive changes, the effort from this coaching staff, and get behind this program.
  3. Better hurry...just announced they were closing the one on Loop 288 in Denton. There is a chance they will convert it to a Taco Bueno if that helps, but no word on that as yet. Ten Pollo Tropicals closing in Texas. Loop 288 on is on the closing list.
  4. Well done, Sir! Good on you!
  5. He was sitting way up top in the end zone beside me and Ben Joiner. We were pretty high to get in any crowd shots. But we were pretty darn loud....that count?
  6. Sports Illustrated doesn't think much of the Mavs chances this season. NBA preview edition has them picked pretty much as an also ran. And only has a couple of Mavs rated in the top 100 NBA players listing. Hopefully, the Mavs will surprise a bunch of folks including the SI crew.
  7. Yes, sorry...definitely meant Jenkins. My bad. Guy had a super game and I type the wrong name. Ugh! They were running that triple option and capable of reeling off large chunks of yardage. Yep it felt different. Definitely agree with that. Just not your supposition that UNT didn't win, but rather that Army gave it to the Mean Green. They did not...the Mean Green took it away from Army and took home the Win.
  8. True. While Army was uncharacteristic with Their sloppy play, UNT engineered some of that sloppiness by its play. To say that UNT did not not earn this win with its play or even indicate as much is doing disservice to a UNT defense who stood tall against that triple option offense, an O-line who made plays when it counted, to Wilson (160 yards I think), to Ivery, to Fine and some spectacular play by Jeffries on D. To see the emotion in person of the Mean Green players was worth the trip. The Mean Green WIN this one by earning it and surprising Army with its speed and and ability to adjust to that triple option. The Mean Green overcame some untimely penalties, turnovers of its own and two missed field goals. But, the offense and defense came up big when it counted. Very proud of this team. Even prouder when I saw some of our players going over after the game to shake hands with some of the Cadets in the stands after the game. Also...no one at this game took a knee during the National Anthem.
  9. Kenny B played and played well...just no catches. I don't recall him getting many throws his way, but he played well. Did his job. Thompson and Rutherford...I don't know about.
  10. Returning tonight for the most part.
  11. Student turnout was excellent. If that number would return for the actual games the Super Pit would be really loud! Army of Dad is correct about a simewhat disappointing fan turnout. Decent, but not what it should have been. Glad I was there...lots of fun.
  12. Greenjoe...you going to do this? Really a great idea.
  13. No one contacted me either, but there have been several notes about basketball season ticket renewals within the Mean Green Club weekly newsletters and several announcements during the coaches radio shows. I have also seen reminders on Facebook and on Twitter. FYI...there will be a player meet and greet (with meal I believe) on NOVEMBER 6th (I believe) at the Super Pit for all those who have purchased and/or renewed their basketball season tickets. I believe it kicks off at 6PM. Announcement was just made during the last Coaches Radio Show. Was the first I had heard of it, so be looking for info in the Mean Green Club Newsletters, on Facebook and on Twitter. Should be fun!
  14. Rain at 50% chance now in the forecast for West Point as well for Saturday. But, big chance of rain forecast for the Rice game and nary a drop. So, keep fingers crossed, but pack accordingly. Rain chances seem to be increasing daily. Rain Rain go away......
  15. What chance did you give of a Mean Green victory over Marshall?
  16. That Disney cruise is pretty well sold out...unless you want one of the more expensive rooms. We have done that exact cruise twice and it would be pretty "tight" time-wise to use it for transport to the Bahamas Bowl. But, could be done, but you might not get to see the entire game. You suggested an inside room...I believe they are all sold. Wife checked about a month ago...just in case. Christmas season Disney cruises are pretty "magical"...if you will pardon the pun. The ship is extensively decorated, the characters are all decked out in season attire, gingerbread house building (reserve your spot for that activity early...it sells out pretty fast), character breakfast, etc., etc. Our grandsons lived it! And, yes, there is stuff for adults...adults only pool, some bar areas reserved for adults, etc.
  17. Just announced...Big XII will NOT expand at the current time. Vote was unamimous. Edit:. Just facts folks...just facts.
  18. Well, since both the Merchant Marine Academy (The Mariners) and the Coast Guard Academy are Division III schools for athletics, it would be a big reach for either to move to D1 to join any conference. As an Admissions Field Representative and scoccer recruiter for Kings Point (Merchant Marine Academy) I can tell you there has been ZERO talk about moving up divisions at Kings Point. It would be simply too expensive to upgrade facilities, add coaches, increase recruiting budgets, etc., etc.. The BIG game each year for these two schools is when they play each other in any sport. It is our Army-Navy game. By the way, that was a big win for the Mariners over Rochester. Athletes (both male and female) at any of the service academies are very special student-athletes. It isn't easy handling the academics, regimental duties and athletic responsibilities. Plus there is that 5-year service commitment upon graduation. Special places these service academies...special athletes as well. I stand in awe of every one of them...past, present and future.
  19. At this point the Alumni Association does not set up room blocks at hotels for away games.
  20. Tailgate will be at Sunset Station, La Dahlia Room. 3-5:30pm. Kickoff at 6pm. Located 1174 E Commerce St. Registration is free, food is free...cash bar. RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 26th... untalumni.com
  21. I recall the comments being made when Mason Fine was first announced as a commit...too small, small school program, no real offers other than ours. That signing seems pretty much A-OK now, right? i trust Harrell's and Littrell's abilities to recruit the guys they think fit their system much more than I have in some time. If these guys say a kid works for us, well, I am guessing he does. I don't care a flip who else may or may not have offered nor if the size fits some arbitrary profile. These guys are pretty good at picking the talent they think will work best here for the Mean Green!
  22. We have official tailgates that are really nice at each away game now. It is not like the "old days". If we want such programs to continue, our fans must support them with their attendance. The Rice tailgate is a perfect example...free food and very nice...band playing...cash bar. About 200 attended which was great. Several players parents and UNT folks in attendance. I encourage people to attend these tailgates..they cost a good bit to set up and everything is done for you. No set up...no clean up.. just fun. And, the opposing fans get to see that the Mean Green Nation is there in support of its team. I am not saying...don't do your own thing, but rather Why? Why, when this is set up for you to make it less trouble to tailgate with Mean Green fans, players parents and UNT officials? If you do decide to tailgate on your own at away games, PLEASE PLEASE save time to come by the official UNT Alumni Assoc/Advancement tailgate for more than just a moment or two at the end. These events cannot be maintained without support from our fans, alums, parents, etc.. The more that attend the bigger and better they will become. Again, set up your own tailgate, fine but set it up and shut it down in time to spend some decent time at the Alumni/Advancement UNT Official Tailgate. Thanks for listening. ?
  23. Yes! Great idea...fun too. Assume you would only be looking for men to change shirts in public? ?
  24. So, this indoor practice facility vs a baseball stadium question has me thinking...I know that's a problem right there! But, since there has been that issue of continued operational funds for baseball and the possible need to add one or two women's sports to add baseball, I wonder if the thinking is now along the lints of....well, an indoor multi-purpose facility could really help football move to a much more competitive position, thus brining in new season and individual ticket sales, more concession sales, more Mean Green Club memberships and more donors and funds overall to help all sports... male and female. Then, bring our other two revenue sports to very competitive positions and revenue stream would increase to level to be able to sustain baseball long term and see that it can compete at the highest levels. Stadium funding for baseball is not really the challenge. It is sustainability of the program, So, could this strategy be just what we need to be able to add baseball and do it right when we do? Just wondering...thoughts?
