  1. No...I said it was free for those purchasing tickets through the UNT ticket office. I have no clue what will be the entry fee, if any, for those not purchasing through the UNT ticket office. That has not been announced as yet. I do know that the event will run from 8:30am to 10:30 am the morning of the game. Other details are still being worked out through the Alumni Association and Athletic Dept. Details soon I hope. Now, it's trolling? Really, Ryan? Sorry, man, it's all good. You are probably earning some bonus "atta boy"points from your employer, so good for you. Hope it is a big success because of all the Mean Green fans attending the game. It's all good. Just calm down and enjoy the Mean Green win. Drive safely that morning. Hope nothing delays your arrival. ?
  2. Contrarian? No, just trying to ask a question. Don't get your tail feathers in a fluster. You knew there was an official tailgate before you started to set this up. Just wondering why you want to split the fan base. That's all...more power to you. You didn't expect a question or two when you announced a competing event? Really? All good, bro, remember...be civil. ??
  3. Alumni Event? There will be an official UNT tailgate...you get free admission if you purchase your HOD Bowl tickets through the UNT ticket office. Am sure the Alumni Assoc. Is participating in the official tailgate. If you recall the last HOD Bowl tailgate it was in the Automobile Bldg at Fair Park...inside and warm...good breakfast tacos from Rudy's I believe...UNT band, cheer squad, Scrappy, etc. Tons of attendees and lots of fun.
  4. Just a question...I get the event on the 26th at Dots (great idea), but why are you setting up an event to compete with UNT's official tailgate the morning of the game? Should we not all tailgate together since this is a bowl game and not a regular season game where separate tailgates are the norm? Just asking.
  5. You need to come to a game or two. The NHL style subbing has been out for awhile now. Substitution patterns are very similar to most any team UNT plays it appears these days. I have not seen the "in and out" stuff nearly as much lately. Maybe GrandGreen or Army of Dad, who come to the games as I do, could elaborate more. It is not something I pay much attention to as a rule, so another opinion might be helpful here as well.
  6. I was called within 15-20 min. of the official announcement. Who is you ticket contact at the UNT Ticket Office? Also, are you on Facebook, Twitter, etc., etc.? Tons and tons and tons of announcements through social media. Are you saying you need a personal call or you would not know about how to purchase tickets? Are you a Mean Green Club member? I believe there was ticket info included in the last couple of emails sent out by the Mean Green Club. Also....tons of posts here on GMG.Com as well. Also, if you have purchased tickets, you are probably off the "we better call him" list. I definitely understand what you are saying, but I have found promotions of the game and ticket purchasing to be more than I saw for our last HOD Bowl.
  7. Seattle Sounders win the MLS Cup without one recorded shot on goal for the entire game. Odd.
  8. Looks like Jared Mosley...new AD COO. Came from ACU (Abilene Christian) where he was once AD, and also played BB at ACU.
  9. Can't be back if they have never played. Let's just say that they will finally be eligible to play...no "back" about it for these two. Here's hoping they are as touted and can give the team a real lift on both ends of the court. Fingers crossed.....
  10. I donated to this cause, and I know of three others who have as well. I called Mike Smith and he took care of it for me as he did at least one other person I know. We bought tickets which will be given away to students on campus at various events and points around campus. If you do want to participate just call Mike, tell him how many if the $20 student tickets you wish to donate and give him your credit card number. Done! Easy!
  11. I thought I saw it announced that Mason Fine would be starting in the HOD Bowl. But, this thread is making me think I was imagining that I saw that. But, really, thought I saw an announcement saying Fine was starting. Not trying to stir the pot at all, just thought it had been decided in favor of Fine being the starter.
  12. I remind everyone that UNT was about an 18 point dog at Army early this season...and....what was that final score?
  13. The Eli Young Band will be at Apogee in March! There you go!
  14. Excellent post...but, for me, this game is going to cost me less than going to a game at Apogee. Even if it didn't...it's a bowl game and, hopefully, the start of a positive trend for this program. I am calling it the "All Academic HOD Bowl". This team earned this game due to its work both on the field and in the classroom. Anyone not going, well, fine, your choice. But, why spend so much time trying to justify to this crowd why you aren't going? Why the need to tell everyone why? Don't want to go...great...just don't go. No biggie and no one probably cares how you justify it to yourself.
  15. I expect Bradshaw ( I think that is his name), the same QB we faced in New York, to start for Army. The "good news" for the Mean Green is that he is not a passing QB....currently under 50% completion rate for the year. Who will start for UNT will depend on practice leading up to the bowl and Fine's health. If Fine is healthy and fit I would expect to see him start as I think he gives Army more to "consider" in their defensive game planning.
  16. I believe if you check the Alumni Association website, you can find info on purchasing the pavers at the Alumni Pavilion. If all else fails, pick up the phone and just call the Alumni Association. They would be Abe to provide info for you. The pavers have been on sale since the Pavilion was built. Unfortunately...lots of space still available.
  17. You could buy the tickets and get them to me (I have already purchased my tickets) and I would definitely work through the University/Alumni Association to get them into the hands of someone who could use them. When you order just have them Fed Ex'ed to me! Anyway...if interested PM me...happy to help if you want to do something like this. Yes....and it very much helps the university to order through the ticket office.
  18. Pavers at Alumni Pavilion are open to all grads. So are the pavers at the new student union.
  19. Yep!
  20. Eli Young Band will be playing for the Wingspan Gala this year in March. Black (green) tie scholarship event held each year. In the new student union again this year. Table sponsorship sales starting now. Hope to see some of you there this year. You can purchase individual tickets as well, but don't think those are on sale as yet.
  21. GMG does love uniform talk!
  22. Either one fine with me. If HOD fans could perhaps ride the train from Denton. Would solve the parking problems and the drive back and forth.
  23. Speak for yourself. I care very much about that state of UNT basketball.
