  1. Just wondering...any news on how season ticket sales are going so far? I imagine the ticket office doesn't want to give out actual numbers as yet, but all previous ticket holders have had to respond regarding renewals to keep their current seats and new season tickets have been sold. Just wondering how e are doing. If not actual numbers can we get any idea of any percentage incresae...such as...."season ticket sales are 20% ahead of last year's pace at this time"...anything available or know about that? With over 5000 at the Spring Game (YIPPEE!) I would hope that season tickets are selling "briskly"...anyone know anything? GO MEAN GREEN....BEAT ZERO U..... BEAT NAVY ... BEAT SMU ...Heck...BEAT EVERYBODY!!!!!
  2. Speaking of Kickers...Jason Ball is the kicker for the Colorado Crush of the AFL. Went to Denver last week to watch him play. Great kid...great leg...needs a shot at an NFL tryout.
  3. Tough choice...I WANT BOTH!!!! But, make me choose, and I go with the stadium. Check the last few years and all the conference realignments. You never know when the wind changes...with a new stadium we maight just be "begged" to join a better conference well before ten years. We control our fate with the stadium...we don't control ur fate regarding a new conference. Let me worry about things I can control, not things I do not have control over. BUT...I WANT BOTH! Buy season tickets, join the UNT Exes, get on the bus to ZeroU...Go Mean Green!
  4. I think it's DD himself...hey, they can't pay much in the cold hinterlands, can they? Just kidding about the salary. Nothing new seeing this stuff for sale...often an ex-coach or ex-player...
  5. I have already booked a seat for myself and the wife...also a two-time UNT grad...this should be great fun...and why pay the extra $5.00 as a non-menber...JOIN the EXES! The Denton Chapter is planning some great events for this year starting with some good mixers! Meet and Greets and possibly some "interseting" guest speakers...to be named later as they say...GET ON THE BUS and GET ON THE BUS AS A UNT EXES MEMBER...we need you, your support and your active participation in Exes events and projects. Great way to support UNT and have fun doing it. By the way, the Sink Navy T-Shirts SOLD OUT at the Spring Game, but additional supplies are being ordered...grab one while you can!
  6. I too, say "Welcome Aboard"...I "watched and wondered" for some time too before joing the frey with a post or too...it's quite enlightening to say the least...LOCK & LOAD! O.K., here's a question....I heard from an ex-football player from UNT that there was not near the emphasis on the weight room and workout programs under Dodge than previous coaches. I guess that's the Man's call, but I wonder....if our "Big Guys" are not having to put time in the weight room doing all those lovely squats and reps, well, what happens when they have to push the big dawgs around from ZeroU, Mid Tenn, FIU, etc., etc. I hope this is just random mis-thought, but what has anyone else heard about Coach Dodge and his training thoughts regarding the weightroom???? Help....I hope this is just a nasty rumor...we need the Big Guys to be Strong Big Guys not just "bowls of jello bellies"....THOUGHTS out there from those who are MUCH MUCH closer to the program than I am...PLEASE & THANK YOU!
  7. It is my understanding that the Denton Exes will try to have shirts for sales at the Spring game...but they might run into a "cahllenge" getting permission to sell the Navy T-Shirts at the game. Why worry about it? Call the Exes and order yours now and it will be ready for you to "grab" at the Exes office across from Fouts. They are "WAY COOL". I have purchased seven so far!
  8. Try Burma Shave...oops...I think that one is gone too!
  9. Don't know if the Exes will mail out the revised "Sink Navy" shirt or not....probably would if you would allow them to add for "postage and handling"...give them a call and ask. No "harm no foull"...can't hurt to ask. I hear they will be available for purchase from the Exes at the Tailgating area prior to home games up to (and including) the Navy game "as long as supplies last" as they say...."get 'em while they are hot"!
  10. FREE????? How about showing your support and BUYING one of the "Sink Navy" T-shirts the Exes are selling for $12.00? $$$ go to scholarships and the shirts are great! Call the Exes office and order your TODAY! Thanks to the Exes for getting this going! Well done!
  11. Speaking of GREEN game day shirts...the "revised" version of the SINK NAVY shirt is "in stock" through the UNT Exes office...I now have 7 of them...passing them out to friends who I know will be going to the game. Call the Exes office NOW and order your shirt...there was plenty of "stuff" said about the shirt on this message board, and the Exes listened to everyone's concerns (not sure I agreed with the concerns, but that is a different matter all together, isn't it?) and changed the shirt. Now it's time to support the Exes efforts...besides...did you know that 100% of the proceeds after costs go to scholarships for UNT students???? That's doing something positive...helping boost spirit AND adding dollars to needed scholarship coffers...now, what are you going to do about it? Call and buy your shirt now...they are $12.00. Join the Exes while you are at it! They are doing great things for UNT...the Denton Exes scholarship auction raised over $20,000 this year for scholarships. Wow, they need and deserve our support. BUY THE T-Shirts! P..L..E..A..S..E and T..H..A..N..K Y..O..U...
  12. Not too sure the helment matters much...it's the head wearing the helment that helps to win or lose the game. Start winning and folks won't care what color or design the helmet is...let's get it on and win some games! If TD wants "his" stamp on it, fine with me, but show me an exciting team, one that won't quit and a staff that can and will recruit and I'm fine! Come on Dodgeball!
  13. Absolutely amazing...but Navy has a good deal of folks in San Diego. The "lesser" bowls are hurting for $$$$ and crowds. This may be an effort to help "fill the stands" for this "lower tier" bowl. I agree...absolutely NOTHING is "too much" for the current bowl system. Needs to be changed...but, that is a topic for another discussion.
  14. I sure hope everyone that is replying about the shirts will call the Exes Center on Campus and order their "Sink Navy" shirts TODAY! We need to get behind this project and let the Exes know we appreciate their efforts in trying to "fill the house" and to create some excitement for UNT games. I've got five on order....don't cost much and they will look great on game day against Navy. Give the UNT EXES A CALL TODAY!
  15. Just wondering...what's up with the new stadium and the fundraising efforts? Haven't seen or heard much about it in awhile. When is the effort in fundraising going to go "public". I am sure Rick V and his team are well into the "private" fundraising that will certainly have to take place. We need the "big money" folks behind this effort and it will take Rick V., his team, the new Prez. and all the Board of Regents working "behind the scenes" to get the big money folks pried loose, but will we go "public" soon with some sort of pledge drive to get the GREEN NATION behind it? Reminds me of church building campaigns....often the fundraising lacks a bit of urgency and pizazz UNTIL that first spade of dirt is turned and folks can see that it is really going to happen. Let's get going...let's turn that first spade of dirt. Does anyone have any news or thoughts on the new stadium and where we stand???
  16. Glad to see some response...and a bit positive at that...to the idea of bringing back men's soccer. We have the facility, the program costs would be "bearable" and UNT has a tradition of winning in men's soccer...and now women's soccer...great job John Hedlund and the women's team. O.K., we add crew and bowling for the women and work with Title IX....it's still all about the money. Would men's soccer supporters be willing to start a "fund/endowment" for men's soccer????? I am all for the new stadium, and agree that we need to get thast going and funded...can we do both? Just wondering.
  17. I, too, like the new design. But, then, I liked the first one too. Call me "graphics challenged"...anyway the new design looks good. I'll buy it and a few extras for friends. Let's hand it to the Denton Exes for doing something fun and positive and responding to a few people's "concerns" with the original design. Let's buy the T-shirts and let's wear them to the Navy game!!!! The Denton Exes need our support for getting this project rolling....BUY "em now...call the Exes and order yours today....my order is already in! See you at the game...love the idea about selling them at the spring game. GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. Thought we were already in the process of adding Men's Baseball??? It's not about "breaking even" in the non-rev sports...don't even know if SMU breaks even on its soccer program...and, we probably don't break even on Men's football at UNT YET, but the idea of too few Men's D1 teams in the area is a "challenge"...travel costs could "eat up the program" if we couldn't find more "local" teams to play. But, if UNT added Men's soccer, perhaps as an independent, we might be able to interest our "closet" neighbors into playing. Don't know, but would love to see Men's soccer back at UNT...would cost less per year than Men's baseball too I would guess.
  19. Hey, let's bring back Men's Soccer at UNT. Our Women's team is doing great...they have a great coach and are building a real winning tradition. They also have a nice facility. With that being said, let's think about bring back Men's Soccer. At one time it was the "winningest" athletic program on campus with NCAA playoff appearance, etc. Last year a "reunion" game was held on campus and the attendance and participation was great. Seemed to be plenty of people there who would support adding Men's Soccer. Yes, I realize there is Title IX to deal with, but the bigger deal is the money. Is there any interest "out there" in working toward setting up an endowment to support Men's Soccer? I think Rick V. and the administration would support it, IF...the BIG IF...they were certain funds would be there...not just for one year, but for several. You know, it doesn't cost so much to put 11 men in short pants on the field when you compare that cost to football programs. Other issue...who to play? Not many DI Men's programs around here, but there is New Mexico, Tulsa, SMU, Creighton, etc. Just thinking...we have the facility...can we put the team back on the pitch?
  20. Just another resaon to support UNT...At this time, it is a GREAT value for your dollar...great fun at the pre-game tailgate parties...lots to do...friends to see, etc., and it won't cost you an arm and a leg like it does at SMU. Ticket prices, game day events, even parking seem very reasonable when you compare it to our "friends" to the south! See you at the game! It's a great event for the whole family....and, you don't have to take out a loan at the bank to enjoy it!
  21. STEP UP and do something better! Go for it...I'll buy your T-Shirt too if the Exes sell it. I am sure the Exes would love you to volunteer and get involved. Someone did and the PC police get all over it! I am all for the PC Police crowd doing something positive instead of complaining about what other folks are doing. It sure would be crowded at Denton Exes chapter meetings if the local PC Police crowd would show up and get involved. But, tghen it is always easier to criticize others than do anything yourself, right? Just thinking out loud. Enough of this already...let's get fired up for some great DodgeBall...and let's fill the stadium for Game 1 of the DodgeBall era. All are welcome at Fouts Field. I'll see you there....
  22. Score another for the PC police...I think it's great that the Denton Exes are doing something fun and supportive of the school and athletics. Sure hope all you PC folks who were "offended" by the original T-Shirt buy several of the new and PC-Correct versions...Sure hope no one gets their feelings hurt this time...sure wouldn't want that...by the way...you PC folks...buy season tickets and support the team! Buy the "new" and "improved T-shirt too. Hope to see you at the game! GO MEAN GREEN...GO DENTON EXES for getting going and helping "sell-out" Fouts Field for the Navy game! You guys deserve a real "thank you" for getting it going....see you at the game! Gotta run buy my new and improved "Sink Navy" T-Shirt. I will wear it to the game PROUDLY!
  23. WOW...The PC Police are certainly out in force starting with Greenjoe.....or whatever the name is...I have a son and a daughter-in-law in the Navy and they thought the shirt was great, I am a veteran of the Viet Nam era and I think the shirt is great. It is too bad that in today's world everyone looks for "hidden messages" in everything. IT'S A FOOTBALL GAME! I think the Exes should be congratulated for doing something to support the school and to "rev up" interest in the game. The shirt OBVIOUSLY references a football game! Get a life! I doubt that any Naval Academy Midshipman would be offended. They are smart enough to realize it references a FOOTBALL GAME. I LOVE THE SHIRT,...sign me up! I will wear it proudly! I think I'll get a couple extra for my Naval officer son and daughter-in-law. They thought it was a "hoot"! I can't remember the last time something like this was done by the Exes or anyone else for that matter. Maybe it doesn't happen because whatever is done..someone will get their feelings hurt! Let's don't even keep score at the game...it would hurt my feelings if we lost...let's just give everyone a trophy for participating...and...don't yell too loud it might scare the birds flying over the stadium. Thanks to the Exes for doing something positive...shame on the PC police!
